- mobil1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29Why all this pre-order allocation hype? EB and Gamestop aren't the only stores that will be selling Wii. Walk into Walmart or Target on release day and grab one off the shelf.
- johnhummel, on 10/12/2007, -6/+27I have a correction: it turns out there were 30 Wii units available - but the Gamestops had opened early at seeing the line to sell to them. So if you didn't arrive 2 hours early, then forget it.
Don't digg this article - it was incorrect. - MrSidnet, on 10/12/2007, -8/+22Most Useless Blog Entry. Ever.
Oh, and also due to the update, it's now innaccurate. - millixaw, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13I got my preorder, was #1 in line. My penis is HUGE. Much bigger than yours.
- x0rtrunks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The most negatively dugg story ever
- TrainwreckX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7People who shop at EB/Gamestop are total airheads. I pre-ordered from a large chain store that started taking pre-orders a month ago.
- aiken, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Sounds like you need to start a game store that pays "kids" $20 for their used games and sells them for $30 or something. You'd corner the market. I wonder why nobody else is doing it?
- voets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5i got mine preordered im all set
- curtis3389, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6The actual reason they aren't allowing more pre-orders is thanks to Xbox 360. My local store had over 200 pre-orders on launch day, and they received 2 Xbox 360's. This wasn't an isolated event. It happened all over the country. Thousands of people received a call on or around launch day that came off as "We're sorry, but we ruined your Christmas. Have a nice day."
- Arcadian, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6For people who still want to pre-order a Wii - Toys R Us hasn't started theirs yet. The one I work at will be taking theirs the 29th, and should have more then EB Games and Gamestop.
- MioTheGreat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+42? I was there a little over 3 hours in advance. I'm #7 on the list...
- Cyborg771, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If I can't preorder at EB I am just gonna line up at best buy the day before
- dagamer34, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Anyone know the chances of getting a Wii at Walmart or Best Buy on launch day? It would seem as if EB/Gamestop only got about 20% of the initial launch allotment.
- Nitro420, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9I arrived at 9:30 to get one of the 19 at my EB. I was confused that there were only like 4 people there waiting and they let us into the store and said, "Wii's are gone.. we finished the pre-orders at 8am. Some people were here all night." Apparently they just handed the pre-orders out at 8am, 2 hours before the store opened.
- MicHalpin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2anyone think that maybe Nintendo wants less Wiis in "Game Stores" and more Wiis in the stores that everyone goes to not just gamers since that does seem to be their sales pitch for the console that they want your grandma to go buy one for herself she is more likly to go to Walmart than to EB.
- hellalazy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i was in line for both consoles
13 ps3
14 wii
i dont get this blog though - stealthboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1With all the recent stories about Gamestop/EB Games it seems like you all think that's the only place to get a Wii. Just because they limit their pre-orders to some number does not correlate to any final launch numbers. I pre-ordered mine from Amazon. I'm sure most people will go to Walmart or Best Buy. So what exactly is the point of this blog entry?
- johnhummel, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8I just called up the local stores and said "How many did you have"?
Most of them said 30 - 35, so that's where I got my info. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There are plenty of Wii's to go around, wii brains.
- ChildeRoland420, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I called up the local store to ask on Thursday and they said "I can't tell you." I tried again Friday after about 4 in the afternoon and he told me that they sold out but he couldn't tell me how many they had sold.
Is this some company policy, or is Kevin just being a dick??? Really, I want to know. - TrainwreckX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@kingfoot
On the East Side around Redmond and Kirkland we had 12 PS3s per store and 14-20 Wiis. Weird... - Noloco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Milwaukee,Wi I was at the Gamestop which isn't to distance from another 6 of them in the surrounding area. But I was there..In case there was a line..Though there wasn't a line from 6am till 845 at which time my g/f brought me Star Bucks and I had to go cater to those drones at work. But when she arrived for my departure there was two other guys. She told me they only did 6 pre-orders. We was 3rd. So thats cool. There was a line though she said and some didn't get their pre-orders..Well It wouldn't of been cool if I didn't. I was up reading relaxing and playing my Sp :D No one else was around at 6am.
- theonlybigboss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Same in largo fl
for those of you that don't know were that is, its about 40 miles east of tampa - Factionrider, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Between 18 at Game stop and 36 at EB Games there were 54 preorders in my entire city, Johnson City, TN. I got to EB games at about 9:20 and was the 10Th person in line.
- andreo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I don't think it really matters with the Wii. I don't see much of a problem with supply. Nintendo hasn't had any production problems and they want to make sure that everyone that wants a Wii for before the holidays has one.
So I won't be spending any time camping in the cold, rain, snow, or who knows what else for a Wii. I will simply get up at a decent time on launch day, head over to Target, and pick one up along with a copy of Zelda. - squirrel83, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeh no shiz, Although I live in Hawaii I just found out last night that it would be availible today and all across the island Gamestop only had 21 slots per store and allready are full. The guy stated that Bestbuy was gettting 200. . . but called and they stated they're list is full as well.
Pickle Stickes - Factionrider, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Somehow we set the store alarm off while the manager was at the bank, and when the sheriff showed up he ended up buying a game for his kid.
- CrazyForSW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think they just sold out faster, I don't think they have less stock than the ps3. I actually called the guy at eb games on Thursday to make sure they were doing preorders (before all the confirmations online) and he said they had more supply of wii preorders than ps3.
However, I went on friday at about 11 in the morning and they had none left. I guess I have to wait in front of best buy now. - sparkmonkeyz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I went on friday at 10:30, my eb opens at 10:00, and he said that they sold out all of them in 5 min, wich was over 20, the amount of PS3's was like 4.
- melkore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I did the exact same thing. I took an early lunch at 11:30 went to EB Games. They were out but the manager said that the Gamestop had 3 when he called 10 min. ago. I hauled ass over to GameStop and picked up the last reserve.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Nintendo hypemachine: "Squeal like a pig, boy!"
Fanboi: "Wii! Wii!" - worldrally, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is only pre-orders remember...Gamestop/EB don't know how many they're getting yet which is why they're limiting pre-orders. Chances are there will be a lot more on launch day.
I read this story earlier this morning about the Wii preorder where the POLICE turned up...interesting read:

. - falconwolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't know about you guys but I'm going to a 24 hr Walmart to get my Wii. Midnght is my magic number.
- dharm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1when i went to my local eb, they had very limited pre-orders on the wii (just a few). Several other eb here didnt even know how many they were going to get.
- nonchallant0819, on 03/27/2008, -0/+0This is a great story... found this one through http://www.google.com

http://www.TopNotchCarpentry.com - domokun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Got mine around 12:30PM.
Walked in, asked if they had any preorders left. paid for it. walked out.
Miami, FL - vishusdelishus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I live in a sparsely populated area where I could snag a 360 by walking into a walmart on launch day. They continue to have stock and have actually never been out since launch. I forsee no problem getting a Wii.
Suckers. - curtis3389, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1There were 32 preorders at my local GameStop. This was double that of PS3. Of course they were sold out faster than PS3 due to demand. Under 45 min. and that's one person at a time.
- xboxmods, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1my stores only got a few, in the valley forge area, and they were sold out before the stores opened :(.
- krakkinem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0A friend of mine went to Gamestop here in San Antonio this morning with his brother to reserve one, and they too only had 14 to reserve. And they even checked IDs to enforce their "one per household" rule. So, my friend and his bro could only reserve one, and they had to give up their other ticket to the last guy in line.
I want one, dammit! - johnhummel, on 10/12/2007, -8/+7That's exactly what happened to me. I didn't expect people to camp out for the Wii, since there would be "plenty".
Seems that demand is so high, we'll have to camp out anyway at launch date at this rate. - neckfire, on 10/12/2007, -2/+113 were available in oaklan CA. I was 15th in line-
Goddamn internet. - YoGramMamma, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0At my local Gamestop in Charlotte, NC... I was first in line for 1 of about 18 (i think) Wii preorders. I got there at 6am because i talked to an employee at a further away gamestop that I wasnt planning on going to, and he told me that he was off this morning and would be going there at 6am himself. I figured better safe than sorry. In my pre-investigation to determine which actual location i was goin to go to.. i was told indirectly that all the gamestops in my area were getting about 15-20. Neither store would tell me an exact number but they both said "just a few more than the PS3" and they had 16 ps3's at one store, and 12 at another. I got there at 6.. and sat in my car (reading digg on the local coffee shop's wifi, and snoozing in and out while watching recorded episodes from last night's "My Name is Earl" and "the Nine") and then next person showed up at about 8. By 10 there were about 8 of us out there with many others rushing in as soon as the doors were opened. We had to wait till 10.. no early let ins. the employees only got there at like 9:15. They passed out slips of paper with numbers on them for the people in the order they showed up.
Like i said, i was 1 (greatfully) put down my deposit.. reserved some more games and consoles.. then left. I called the store back like 20 minutes later and they said they were sold out within 10 minutes of being open. - fortezza, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I was going to check , but I was too busy going on a date to do it. Sorry.
- Lorddaveron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Here in Greenville SC there was only about 20 preorders at our EB Games.
- mbthompson, on 10/12/2007, -15/+13Not sure how many PS3s were avialable because I could give a rip, but at least in Pennsylvania it seems that more populated areas are getting 34 Wii preorders per EB Games/Gamestop store while smaller areas are getting 12. I know in the Philadelphia area stores were getting 34, however in Reading and it's surrounding areas they were only getting 12. Not sure what Lancaster and Pittsburgh look like at the moment.
- ErinIsADrunk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1my guess is that since the Wii is suppose to cater to both the gamer and the non-gamer, EB/GameStop want to make sure that they have plenty of consoles available for walk-ins. My other guess would be that they haven't received an exact number for the # of units they are getting and are airing on the side of caution to avoid another 360 debacle.
- bbdude, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1My Gamestop had 30 Wiis, 14 PS3s. Buried as innacurate.
- LoompaOompa, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0i got my reservation this morning in Dallas. there were only 16 available and I got to gamestop 2 and a half hours early. I was still number 12 in line. Where the hell are you guys that you're getting 30 or more?
