- apzdsx, on 10/12/2007, -16/+42Backups? Is that what they're calling pirated games now?
- ForlornHope, on 10/12/2007, -12/+32WTF? So now we're front-paging announcements that something might maybe happen in the future, possibly?
THIS JUST IN: At some point in the future, the Wii will have a price drop. DIGG ME UP. - MrSidnet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18It would be nice to have region free backups instead of ONLY having the region free mods. Lets hope it works as it implies.
Damn I hate all this Region crap.. - calebhawk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15actually its already out... but its killing some people's modchips so be warned
- Waffleskates, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13I demand the rotating reindeer.
- MagicBobert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10This just in... Wii jokes aren't funny anymore.
- Leg0z, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9PAL Wii games wont even boot on NTSC systems, backups or no. I dont really care though as long as my NTSC system can play Japanese imports. Im looking forward to hours of whacky Japanese games where I flail the Wiimote about and try to make out their crazy moon language.
- calebhawk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7ya u need a program called rawdump and a lg dvd drive, and u can backup a wii game in about 3 hours...
- oblivinated, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Region free does not mean pirate. I am an English speaker yet I live in an Asian country. Here, it is much easier to obtain a Japanese Wii (which I currently use). But, I want to be able to go back to the states and bring back English titles when I get a chance. Currently, this is not possible because of region restrictions. Sigh, playing Zelda without knowing the plot or understanding what the heck is going on is quite the pain.
- Juntistik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@gir53457, I'll buy my software too, Only I'll back it up in case somthing happens to the disc. Not everyone that uses modchips are pirates. Who the ***** are you to say people dont do it? what about the homebrew software scene (in the case of modding)? I can't even count how many hours I've played homebrew software on my modded xbox. (Super Mario War/Xlime) They aren't even making money from it!
- ipodman715, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"Region_Free_Patcher_NTSC_To_PAL_WII-SYNDiCATE"
No PAL to NTSC yet... - Jarasmen, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10@apzdsx:
Yeah, well, it is technically a backup, a copy. It doesn't have a peg leg, an eyepatch and doesn't say "Arrr" all the time. Important is are you using this power to copy for the good of mankind or for evil deeds. Or you can be a Grey Jedi and not give much ***** about that. - Rickler, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11After paying $50 for Wario smooth moves, Nintendo should allow me to pirate a 30 dollar game, there is no way that game is worth more then 20 dollars.
- twtmc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5So this only works with modchips, correct?
- dacheetah, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@gir53457:
"You mean copy. Back up requires you to actually own the disk instead of borrowing it."
No, he means backup, he never said that you borrow the original, and on the assumption that he's referring to the legal, and VERY useful application of this software, then owning the original is implied. (You then put the original in a safe place, so that flying Wiimotes, sticky fingers etc cannot damage the originals.) - LogicBomB, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5So this is wiigion free? :)
- kalidav, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4How does it work exactly? You need an image of the game first?
- shadowcode, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3At calebhawk;
Do you buy a game if it's really good, even after you've finished it? - Longshanks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3We need a way to run homebrew.

*/ - Canadianinjapan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't have a wii yet myself but I really want to be able to play japanese games on it when I find one.
Region locking is a huge pain and forces people to do crap like this since there are good games that never make it to north america. - calebhawk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4they may care about us, but theres no way they could support piracy... i installed a cyclowiz and play my backups and a few pirated games... i love nintendo so much that i almost cry when i play a pirated game but then i think about the $50 i saved if the game sucks...
- bohemian03, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1can someone please explain how to use this? sorry i'm new to all of this stuff.
thanks. - dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I just want a working Region Free modchip. I'll pay to have it modded. I want region free downloads from the VC store and Region Free games. When someone gets that and gets it onto the market, they've got my money.

http://tophomemortgageloan.com - calebhawk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1depends if its a title like zelda or metal slug... both really good games but i only "own" one, guess which one it is...
- Canadianinjapan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1actually I saw this program yesterday so the story with "soon" in it was old by the time it was popsted.
- arcticblue, on 11/20/2007, -0/+1It says 40 comments, but I see none. Weird.
- masterthiefster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This article sets a new standard for digg stories. That gives me an idea:
Duke Nukem Forever! To be released soon
We have just heard that a beta version of Duke Nukem Forever may be going out to testers very soon. It is a first-person shooter unlike any other. Multiplayer is rumoured to handle up to 75 players with apparently zero lag. Stay tuned! - chichiboo, on 11/07/2008, -0/+0well since i am a total dumb ass when it comes to this and also afraid to mess up my own wii. here in philippines there are stores that makes your wii available for your region. and also you can charge people who messed it up.. better than going to this troubles if you are not good at it.
NOTE: this is illegal but it is somehow supported by the people so it sells - Kalidascorp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As far as I know Nintendo didn't want region protection, but they put it in or else the government could go hunting for them... for economic reasons... Importing games is basically throwing money out of the country and into the hands of Japan.
I'm sure that Nintendo doesn't really mind us doing this to the Wii, as long as it doesn't interfere with other's game play (hacking online games...). But they don't support it as well, or rather they CAN'T support it. Government and all that.
We need to get a Nintendo representative a seat or 50 in congress. - Faxlee, on 02/26/2008, -0/+0It is easier simply to find the game from your region
http://www.wiiiso.com/ - thund3rstruck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@gir53457
Dude, seriously.. who the ***** are you? Is it really necessary for you to reply to every comment? We get the picture, you want to pay for your games... ok by all means do that. However, some of us prefer to get our games for free. Who made you GameJesus? - Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2No, its still piracy, if you're not buying the games. However, its Nintendo's fault in creating this situation where we NEED to pirate foreign games and patch them in this way. The Wii should have been region free.
- aptiva, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2It's called the WiiKey
- Gir53457, on 10/12/2007, -9/+6You mean copy. Back up requires you to actually own the disk instead of borrowing it.
- stratmancj, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3http://shaunj66.gbatemp.net/syn-rfp.rar
- dotorg, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1That is a hell of a shot if a flying wiimote makes it through the drive door and takes out the disk in the Wii...
- frase, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3Wiigion Free
heh heh - calebhawk, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2@waffleskates:
did u ever really need the utopia boot disc? every dreamcast backup i ever downloaded was self boot... - Gir53457, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2@ three
Unless your pirating MS software, then you get to join the circle jerk for ***** who think too highly of them selves. - threepio, on 10/12/2007, -14/+5I realize that Region Coding sucks - but seriously, if you've got a hardon for the Wii (like most of us on Digg), you shouldn't be digging this story. Piracy, in this case, sucks.
- Gir53457, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1I'll just buy my software instead of having to go through elaborate schemes to pirate them in a them.
- cockaroachie, on 10/12/2007, -14/+1I think Nintendo will support this new technology. I've read on digg that they are a very good company and they care about gamers, unlike Sony.

What is Digg?
