- jackpot, on 10/12/2007, -4/+31"so the 30th"
Look who's wrong, should be the 29th. Is not being an ***** really a dying skill? - Danjak, on 10/12/2007, -11/+32The guy made a mistake, no need to be a dick about it.
- jpbleuu, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20he wasn't really being a dick about it. if you are going to post a story to digg you should at least make sure you get the dates right.
- VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13The title is stated... Jan 23rd for Mario Kart, but in virtual console it is not showing up. I believe that will be next week on the 29th, that is usually when they come out with their VC releases. And also on a side note, the News Channel will be live shortly too and I'm very interested to see how they will do the news, because the weather channel is awesome.
Now; all I want to hear now is when Streets of Rage 2, The original Mario Kart, Super Mario 2 and 3, and Link (Zelda 2) hit virtual console. Can't wait for those. - totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14"but you aren't getting anything new with these Virtual Console titles they release; Nintendo is simply trying to get you to rebuy your games."
wow, stop the ***** presses. - dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17The concept of the weather channel is good, but the execution sucks. I don't want 5 hour old weather updates. Use it right now, and I guarantee at least one major american city still has a moon on it, instead of a sun. I get instant weather updates by middle clicking on the dashboard on my mac.
So, if the news channel is going to be more of the same, and we get old news updates (Cheney shoots man in woods!, Nintendo changes name of Revolution to Wii!)
I'll pass...
We do have a web browser in there, one that I'm sure is far more timely and better updated on content... - dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Hacked Xbox, locating, downloading, and testing roms, buying mod chip and a new HDD, installing and flashing stuff= $100-300, 3-4 weeks.
Owning a Wii, downloading points, purchasing game= $10, 10 minutes.
Enjoy your Xbox, you earned it. - HMTKSteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I'm going to run out of money with all of these great VC releases!
- rockforever, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Yo, RealityCheque. What are you trying to say? We all know we have to rebuy the games. The games are WORTH buying. Thats why we buy them. Its not like Nintendo has turned us into there zombies and somehow tricked us here. You use words like scheme, but what you are proposing as an alternative is theft. Your an idiot.
- djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8"but you aren't getting anything new with these Virtual Console titles they release; Nintendo is simply trying to get you to rebuy your games."
So you're telling me that my old SNES outputs over component at 480p? *****, I never knew. Better go get that puppy out of the garage then. - awm4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I wish that some of the classic games like Mario Kart 64 would come out with on-line capabilities.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Pilotwings!
when is that coming? - nihility, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Wasn't A Link to the Past from SNES? That description is straight from the press release too.
- DerekJ212, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Does anyone digging down dvddesign even have a Wii? The Weather Channel is great, but I was surprised to see it was always at LEAST 5 hours old. Its a simple problem that needs to be fixed.
- totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Link to the Past was posted? WTF? Why doesn't Nintendo send me Wii-mail to tell me these things?
- Negyxo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Actually, who the ***** cares?
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"In other words, this is a scheme to get you to rebuy all of the games you already own (or have roms of)."
I don't own Mario Kart 64, and using ROMs instead of buying the game is illegal. It's their product, they're not under any obligation to let me have it for free, past-gen or not. - n8r0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I am not quite sure what to think of the News Channel. I rarely use the Weather Channel or the Opera Browser. I guess it will be a nice "feature", just something to show off when the family comes over.
- Korexz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'd still rather play Double Dash... Never got into the 64 version.
To all the people stating that you are getting nothing new... there is a documented update feature on the VC games. I expect that once Nintendo starts taking games online you will be able to update your VC game to do the same. It is only logical...
And this time Nintendo has also stated that you own the game permanently... so next system (WiiII?) you will be able to keep the VC games you bought and bring them with you....
Final part of all this is the connectivity between the DS and Wii... how long before I can take my VC games with me on my DS? - speedy11309, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3yeah and this one was submitted ~2 hours before that one was. therefore, i bury that one and digg this one up.
- MegaSilver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Wii Play, a collection of nine new games in the Wii Sports style, will be available Feb. 14. Wii Play comes packaged with a Wii Remote™ to highlight the fun multiplayer aspects of Wii, and to provide an incredible value."
Has anyone heard if they will be selling this as a stand-alone game for a few bucks. Why not put it up on the Wii Shop channel. I already have all the remotes I want to get. - staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Mario kart 64 was actually my favorite version. Getting it as soon as it is released.
- ToastPop, on 04/17/2009, -0/+3Glad to see we're finally getting another N64 game. My DS already has remakes of the good games that have come out so far (Zelda, Mario 64, etc.) so I haven't made any use of the VC yet.
I really hope they make arrangements to get Goldeneye on the VC, my life will be complete :D - iprod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Not soon enough
- n8r0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I doubt they could put it on the Shop channel, unless they placed all of the 9 games on there seperately. The Wii only has a limited amount of internal storage space (512 megs) and I doubt that Wii Play would fit.
- jiggidy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2well todays the 24th and still no mario kart.
- rockforever, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3PS RealityCheque, Don't say your a WiiBasher on a Wii forum. Or anywhere for that matter, the Wii rocks.
- PiratedTVPro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There's a reason I only own 3 Wiimotes, and have 4 Nunchucks.
WiiPlay is that reason. - NoQuarter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It only updates the weather every 6 hours, but does the "current weather" not change after an update? Surely it could just download the forecast for the next 6 hours and display it accordingly?
The News channel would have to update more often though. - LotusStarscream, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes, you are correct I noticed that too. I think its only in the description though. Anyway I prefer the 64 version of Mario Kart to the SNES version, now if I could only find more god damn Wii remotes.
- whiledo, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1Actually, this one was submitted before that one.
However, it was submitted about an hour AFTER this one (which has 900ish diggs):
http://www.digg.com/gaming_news/Mario_Kart_64_coming_to_Wii_VC_next_week - jburchard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nintendo isn't keeping anyone from continuing to play on their modded XBox. You deserve a nice pat on the back from all of us for setting up that system. However, overall market for roms and emulators is next to nothing. Granted, among techies and Digg users, they are well known, but the majority of video game players have no idea what they are. Even if they've heard of them, they have inkling how to get their hands on them. So, instead of complaining about Nintendo's VC system, we should congratulate them. They have opened up a market to millions of people.
- JohnH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's worth noting that Mario Kart 64 will be only the second N64 game for Virtual Console, after Mario 64.
- theratdotus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1does anyone notice sometimes it takes forever for things to load in the wii browser? and the wii doesnt have many good games out, just zelda and madden.
- volcompimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How about a title that I don't already have (or have an equivalent of) on DS (or GBA).
I just beat LttP on GBA which I hadn't purchased that long ago but I'd rather of played it on VC.
I'm sure as soon as I beat Minish Cap they'll add that and GBA support as well. - Korexz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have 4 pre-sells... ; )
But they are for friends that I knew would want them once the found out that the Wiimote comes with the game... - charlie55, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2cant we digg this down, i wasted 10 minutes going to my wii and looking for mario kart. isnt this what the inaccurate tag is for?
- Guard, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2"A Link to the Past from the NES ®,"
Umm... wasn't Zelda: LTTP for the SNES?
(Edit: Nihility beat me to it >. - VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1No Stand-Alones planned at all. Currently, all Wii Play games are sold out and you can not pre-order them at all. I guess you could wait in line, or camp out at your local target and 24/7 wal-mart to get the game, which I'm being told, megaloads have called gamestop and ebgames to preorder, but they are turning them down.
- Chode2235, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Zelda? Which Zelda are you playing and how? LttP on GBA, or have you got OoT etc working via emulator and flash cart?
- PhiKapChappy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You can pre-order from best buy's online store
- heyisa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When will the game i played the most in my life be coming out for the VC?
Original Gameboy Tetris.
Can't wait to make that space shuttle take off by twisting my wiimote quarter turns, and moving it around the room. - treed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I see "Link To The Past" in the press release, but not the NES part. Yes, it was for the SNES.
- Tikkimann, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Dugg for having "No blog spam!" in the subtitle.
- monkeyhero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It was already stated in an earlier post that it's actually coming the 29th.
- RealityCheque, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The 480p point is a good one.
- spokenrope, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"Hacked Xbox, locating, downloading, and testing roms, buying mod chip and a new HDD, installing and flashing stuff= $100-300, 3-4 weeks."
Softmodding my Xbox took about an hour. Already had the roms (though that might have taken all of another hour), didn't have to buy a mod chip or a new hard drive. I just had to follow this link (provided by digg) once upon a time:
http://www.productwiki.com/microsoft_xbox/article/how_to_go_from_xbox_to_xbox_media_center_in_30_minutes.html
If you want to say that playing old Nintendo games in this way is not supportive of Nintendo, then that's one thing. But there's no reason for you to fly off the handle about something you clearly know nothing about. - trer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Mortal Kombat for Super Nintendo. WITH Blood!
- cyborgbob, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3NINTENDO ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
