- DiggsOnlyNeoCon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26I can't wait for Wii Eat! I'll eat all my meals with the Wii Silverware, and it will track my diet and send it to a personal phsyician!
- carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23I'd like an IM channel and a Music channel thay plays off the SD card or cd myself.
- Itazura, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17In case no one noticed, it is in Greece only, the hospital costs alone in America make this impossible.
- funk49, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Maybe they could build the WiiHealth interface so if I have a heart attack while playing boxing, it will call 9/11 for me. That would be super.
- heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Actual article translated by a human:
http://www.legendarypokemon.net/2007/04/11/English/some-very-interesting-nintendo-news - jewdiknight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Wii Music would be cool if you can save the music you made onto your flash card as a mp3 and import it into your computer. I played the demo at E3 and I conducted the Zelda Theme, I must tell you it was my favorite demo there. Very little game play but it was so much fun and made me feel like a superstar.
- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -12/+19What...the...hell? I love my Wii but this all sounds incredibly lame to me. It's like they dug to hell for ideas and used the bottom of the barrel. The orchestra thing might be interesting, but I'd think of it as more of a minigame or something and the checkup thing is just...well..absolutely lame. I have no idea how the Wii will get any meaningful data out of you (finger pulse monitor I'd guess) and since when has getting a health check up been a fun and exciting thing to do unless you're really worried you're going to die sometime soon?
Give me an IM channel and some streamlined internet multiplayer. - coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yeah I agree. I bought a 1gb SD card on sale and it's full of MP3's but it's also never used because it's totally impractical to have to go into the photo channel anytime I want to listen to music. A Music channel would be great.
- thebaron2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5As far as the Health channel goes, It all depends on what kind of information that they can get from Wii. If it's just some arbitrary crap - like Wii Sports fitness mode - then you're totally right.
If, on the other hand, they can actually get some meaningful information, _somehow_, then I think it has potential to be pretty cool. Maybe not for "traditional," younger gamers, but definitely for the older, "non-traditional" crowd that Nintendo is trying to appeal to. What gives me hope is this little tidbit, FTA:
"Sounds kind of basic, until Katrinakis adds that the game will collect biometric data and send it to local hospitals (contracted by Nintendo) through a Wii channel."
Why bother to contract out hospital work, which can't be cheap, if you don't have information that _requires_ a professional physician to analyze? At worst, the information will be completely worthless and this thing will be a total flop. At best, they'll find some way to use a Wii-like "game" to produce information useful to a doctor in making a meaningful prognoses. Most likely, you'll have to pay extra for some sort of attachment, like the finger monitor that you mentioned. - TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You mean you haven't "experimented" with the wiimote?!
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm not so sure getting a health diagnosis from a game console is such a good idea.
And if it askes me to turn my head and cough you can forget about it. - cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This stuff may not appeal to hardcore gamers, but it`ll keep mom and grandma in front of the wii, and good for nintendo for continuing to expand the market.
- theshalit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I'm assuming safety is most definitely not guaranteed
- adhd123, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That's what she said.
- Galactoise, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dude, Wii Health will have tons of replay value. I, for one, will make it my life goal to acquire every symptom attainable. Just think of it like Pokemon, but for illnesses.
"You've caught the legendary illness Smallpox. Congratulations" - DracoLord, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2dugg for TO THE MAX!
- freetyme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Here's Nintendo's plan for expanding the market
1) Grandma/ Grandpa / Soccer Mom (henceforth will be called non-gamer) see you play Wii, Wii sports interest them they decide to get one
2) You show them how to use Internet, News, Weather, Mii, Game, and Everybody Votes channel they have fun with that. Nongamer loves checking weather, and sends you messages every once in a while asking if there are any "games good for them" you suggest Wii Music and Health, maybe Cooking Mama
3) They have fun playing Wii Sports, Health, and Music, eventually they move on to something a bit more challenging because their addicted to those Wii channels and want to see what else the Wii can do. They either pick up something they heard you mention. Mario Kart Wii, a golf game if their older or just like golf, or maybe My Sims.
4)Your non-gamer relative or friend messages you about what is happening at the Lodge, gardening club or junior's sport, and ask you what you have been doing. You message back saying that you just got Super Smash Brothers Brawl, you of course put in parentheses (that's a Nintendo fighting game), just so they know not to pick it up. Fighting game should turn them off, right?
5) Before you know it "non gamer" is on Nintendo- Wifi connection playing Brawl (and hopefully you know because I'm hoping its one unified friends list using the Wii address book) and they beat you bad with Pikachu.
6) Before you know it Grandpa, Grandma, and Soccer Mom are all in the line at the grocery store talking about who they beat in Brawl last night. They are inexperienced with any console except the Wii, the Wii having built them up from Wii Sports, to Wii Health, Mario Kart, Sports games, and finally fighting games. Nintendo just created a consumer loyal to their brand, at least for now, because they have only played a Nintendo console, after all their now familiar with all the channels, Nintendo games, and probably got addicted to Nintendo franchises as well as control. The gaming "elite" or "1337" is gone, you now have to bear the humilation of being beat on Brawl by that "non gamer" turned gamer, beating you on Brawl with all sorts of characters. - superrcat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ha. This has to be not true, otherwise good luck with HIPPA.
- mkoufari, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually, the Greek site has already removed the comments about the two games and posted a retraction (http://news.contra.gr/Technology/Hellas/149445.html) saying that they were this guy's personal opnions based on his own estimations and expectations, and not based on official Nintendo information.
- Kipp3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think it's kinda cool they are coming up with this kind of stuff. But for a younger audience, may have a few kids puzzled over what the hell is going on. You really need to be interested in this kind of stuff to appreciate it. It's a start, I'm more interested in when they come out with more games from way back. The original Mario is pretty damn fun. :)
- TimDub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1my thoughts exactly. i deal every day with the pain-in-the-ass that is HIPAA. there is no way that supposed feature is going to fly in the US.
- fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Another set of useful features like the Wii poll, keep it coming Nintendo; this is AWESOME!
//sarcasm - dasilva333, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1heres the video of wii music if u guys are interested

and some more:
http://media.wii.ign.com/media/827/827335/vids_1.html - MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Exactly. People are looking at this as "why isn't this Halo or GTA or Mario?" but that wasn't what Wii Sports was either. Wii Sports was a simple idea that anybody could pick up and play. It's what sold the system and got new people to play. I think Wii Music has the potential to do the same thing.
- RetiredExplorer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They are already have that. It's called the Sims.
- macroc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The wii health thing doesn't sound feasible... roll on wii music tho!
- Kipp3r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"Wii New Life" since you screwed up your life, why not create a better, newer life, with more features!
- knetworx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Can't have Wii Sex until you have a Wii-Wii with a Wii Hard-on.
- trer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Wii Sex?
- dotorg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0When someone is checking my wii health, it better be a she and she better warm her hands first...
- tutivlahos, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1And you think they have computers in the hospitals here in Greece? yeah right...
ok, maybe one, in the cashier. :)
FTA: "No word on how the data will be collected or processed" lol - mobbydick, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Wii Health? I mean they coulda made GameCube Health 3 years ago. I don't believe Nintendo's whole health talk.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -16/+0Or maybe not...dugg down and blocked
