My personal horror story involved waiting in line at Best Buy for 4 hours (not exactly a record, I know), but me and more then 15 other people in line watched as Best Buy employees were lead into a back room, and purchased their systems. One employee was able to purchase 3 systems. More then enough to provide the 15 of us that were waiting in line a Wii.
I thought Best Buy had rules against this, both employee purchases, and more then one system per person. - gk128, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah my Sears, also at a mall, only had 2. I was the 2nd on there. Only 5 of us were there for tickets. Since the number was so low I felt bad for the other people I had been talking to, but not enough to give up my Wii.

- H0LLIS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I waited in line with my girl at Fred Meyers for 4 hrs, got rung up at 12:01 and got home by 12:15. They had 90 and when I tried to give my ticket to the first person that was screwed out of one, they wouldn't let me. So I have an extra that needs a home now.

- andreo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I had a TRU pre-order that I picked up this morning. But when I got home from TRU I got a call from Gamerz. I asked them to add me to their pre-order list back in September or so. But they could never tell me how many people were already on the list or how long they had been taking names. I never thought that I would hear from them.
I ended up telling the guy that I just picked one up at TRU.
I did ask someone at TRU if the had sold out. I was told that they wouldn't know until they "checked the tickets against the inventory" or something like that. Which I will take as a no, because when I asked about Elmos I got a resounding "we don't have any". The same happened for PS3s. I didn't bother checking any other stores since I wanted to get home to play with my Wii. I'll see what the damage looks like in a couple of days when I checking for the component cables. - ElectricGrandpa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was at Canada's largest wal-mart, and Canada's largest Zellers... and they were both sold out... In fact, the Zellers only had 9... And I was 13th in line... Grr...

We made it all the way up there before getting busted. They said the manager had already sold the two to the first two people in line inside the mall anyway...
I was really pissed at meijer though. They advertised a midnight launch, but when I went by there around 9 pm they had a sign up saying all units had already been reserved. These Wiis were next to impossible to find in the stores. I saw on the Grocerygame forum that people were subscribing to this site to get cellphone and email alerts for online stores like amazon,circuitcity etc. i signed up, and had a Wii in less than 5 days. Then assuming that it would be easy to get a Wii(160 at best buy, 60 at each target around here) I didn't camp out for the Wii so I missed it. Damn I ***** that up. So now I'm hoping for a second shipment as early as tomorrow to go get my wii.
