/kudos wii - Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -10/+44sssshhhhhhh....
digg him down! - Edrick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18So.....do you put on your robe and wizard hat?
- grimreaperev, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14You're probably right, but think how good this is for a console that just came out and lacked media attention.
- Soniti, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9.. and cast level 27 eroticism...
- anachronaut, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9"Amazon servers crushed by Diggers trying to buy $100 Xbox 360"
They're dead in the water... hilarious, or it would be if I weren't trying to buy one. - navster15, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13"You know how I know you're gay? You listen to Coldplay."
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+85 minutes? Try 45 seconds. They sold out *quick*.
- ChronoReverse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9You mean besides Super Mario Galaxy, then Super Smash Brothers Brawl, and then Metroid Prime 3?
Yeah, there's no killer apps about to come out for the Wii at all. - nroose, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"Amazon" and "Amazon UK" are two different things.
- Calypsoaf, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9I see, so being annoyed by the fact that every other news story on the front page automatically makes me a PS3 fan boy? Sorry to break it to you but I have my Wii sitting in my front room right now, and enjoy it very much. I just don't understand the need to eat, breath, and drink Wii 24/7 all day every day. Yes it is fun, but no, it is not the flying spaghetti monster of all consoles here to save us from our precious free time.
- eean, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Well all good Harry Potter fans go to the release parties. There's enough books for everyone and you get to wear a wizard hat. :)
- Easty, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12People who enjoy listening to a band who are the musical equivalent of the Rich Tea biscuit, apparently.
- garg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I wonder how much money Amazon is losing because of downtime caused by the 45 seconds of the $100 dollar xbox360 deal.
- deadlogic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4already sold out. damn. and i waited 5 minutes for a page refresh.
- cardyology, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4dont forget your "wizards sleeve" haha...
- argh44z, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4sold out. A page I loaded at :58 finally loaded at :00 and said it.
- garg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3darn... so did any one manage to connect? I didn't even see a buy it button haha..
oh well I'll just take the money I saved and buy half a Wii - foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Coldplay?
WTF? - davidod87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2IIRC, the PS2 sold out on Amazon in 22 seconds - but probably because of the lack of units available back then.
- liveinabin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is significant. The only real tangible sign I've seen that the Wii might actually destroy the competition (I mean, most of us think it should, but that's just hope).
Can't wait to get one. That said, I have a load of games to play right now so I'm leaving the first wave of units to people who really want to get stuck into them right away (Zelda fans etc.)
However, after Christmas, I'm right in there! - megaton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I managed to snag one of those $100 360s, but now I can't check out! Everything keeps timing out!!
Future tip (that I'm going to regret sharing): Refresh the page a few times a few minutes BEFORE the start time, then double it and initiate a page refresh that time before the start time. For example, if it's taking 1 minute to load, refresh the page 2 minutes before the deadline. (1:58PM EST, in this case.) By the time DOES load, you'll be one of the first. :) - paOol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if there were 3 million PS3's at launch, no one would want to get them to sell on ebay, and only 10 total units would be sold. true story btw.
- imafish2002, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I swear i started to develop RSI from clicking refresh from about 8:50 onwards. Then my one-clock checkout didnt work so panic set in, still managed to bag one though!
- tehdan3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2i agree
- republicoftexas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does anyone know how many they actually were going to sell for that price? Did anyone manage to get one. I couldn't get on the page for 9 min:(
I guess i will go by a wii tomorrow. The guy at best buy told me he had reason to believe they were holding them. Yeah I wonder why. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://column.newsvine.com/_news/2006/11/23/454842-amazoncom-causes-their-own-denial-of-service-attack
- MrSidnet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25 minutes later, it's SOLD OUT! lol
- garg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2meh... everyone knows.. Amazon.com is down.
- MrSidnet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1haha Im noticing that too. Just stuck on Loading screen
- Easty, on 10/12/2007, -8/+7I was one of those people.
*is smugger than a fox eating a croissant on top of a penthouse suite in paris while surrounded by beautiful naked ladyfoxes* - furiousmonk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Apparently pre-orders of Tampax and The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants are in the top 5 as well.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Yeah, if there were 3 million PS3s at launch it would have CRSSSSSSUSHEEDDDD records too
- RiotActing, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4"CRUSHES"? You NintendoNerds are something else...
- zonk3r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yeah? But there weren't were there? No. They had about that many ready for the entire world, thus the looting, shooting and general insanity...
- Calypsoaf, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3The reason being, the Wii released its killer app (i.e. Zelda) with the console. PS3 did not do this, and the 360 just finally released its first killer app (Gears of War) when the supply of systems is already sustainable, and thus no preordering is necessary. The problem is Wii has nothing notable in the foreseeable future besides Zelda to carry it beyond the initial onslaught, whereas PS3 has its big hits coming out sometime later this year, more than likely in time for Christmas next year. I belief we will not see true sales numbers for how things will turn out until late this year, I expect Wii to slowly level out sometime in Spring and PS3 to pickup steam as we head into NEXT holiday season, with the 360 already basically stabilized into its niche already.
- Topher06, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Honestly, since when did Coldplay require pre-orders, and in the hundreds of thousands. If I wanted to listen to a guy whine into a microphone, I will just pull out my Counting Crows cd.
I think all this proves is that Amazon isn't all that when people think of buying something online anymore. Next week, boxed Kleenex will become Amazon's top pre-ordered product. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0A good showing for the Wii, it looks to be great value when compared to the PS3. However, all you can really read into this announcement is that the Wii has a much stronger core fanbase than the PS3. The real test and profit comes from all the people who get theirs within the first year.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1A Wii story on the front page?
This never happens.
Still, congratulations Wii. - Calypsoaf, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3In other news;
Wii anything crushes the frontpage of Digg....again.... - Whackly, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Breaking news: somehow people who aren't excited about the Wii still don't get that they are the tiny and shriveling minority. Sliced bread and Oxygen took a dive today as well as the PS3, Console Jealousy, and Subjective Fanboyism. Footage at 11.
- billybob476, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1If Wii cheat on me, I will CRUSH her.
- Supernova36, on 10/12/2007, -13/+4This article relates to Amazon UK, and you are talking about 'something' to do with Amazon US.
- MrSidnet, on 10/12/2007, -15/+2Too bad the "1000 Xbox 360 Core Systems that are going to be sold for $100 on Amazon.com" doesnt ship to Canada. dammit
- culbeda, on 10/12/2007, -23/+8A multitude, apparently. Your ignorance of that fact doesn't make it otherwise.
- unibomber999, on 10/12/2007, -34/+6I don't think it's a secret anymore.
- AkatsukiNoTobi, on 10/12/2007, -123/+15I am predicting that the 1000 Xbox 360 Core Systems that are going to be sold for $100 will break the world record of an item being purchased online the quickest.

What is Digg?
