Granted, mine costs a lot more LOL. - FishyJoe, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27What about the Wii Lightsabre?
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16I hear this old guy in the deserts of Tattoonine can show you how to build your own...
- Alenalda, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10that kicks so much ass good thinking :D

It's an adapter for the wii remote, not a different input device.
However it does look like they added a nunchuck style joystick. - inio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I suspect there will either be a calibration step or an on-screen cursor. I'm hoping for the calibration step myself, as having the physical connection between where I'm aiming and ... well, where I'm aiming would be nice. Nintendo has used calibration-based aiming before - remember the Super Scope 6?
- spiffyfitz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Even if that statement were remotely true, who gives a *****?
I play my N64 all the time, more than my Wii even. What is the latest isn't always the greatest. - spiffyfitz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4The Wii remote doesn't put the onscreen cursor exactly where you're aiming the remote, though. It just scoots the cursor above or below the sensor bar depending on what your settings are... I hope they make it work like a light gun instead, so it can be more accurate.
- patrickloggins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Looks awesome. I was completely surprised by the whole lock-in wiimote thing, but after seeing it, it makes perfect sense.
However, if this thing doesn't have some serious rumble.... - doddilus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2or for gods sake put more adjustment options than "above tv" and "below tv"
- Slickjim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Hey, that 2005 game was awesome, and I will blindly spend money to relive that experience, going so far as to inject my family with a lethal virus if it simply makes them cry out en Espanol. Once I can do an awesome crescent kick and suplex, I'm hitting the streets of Manhattan with a suitcase, 20 shots, and a raw egg.
Point is $20 is worth the added feeling of realism to some people. - ChrisRX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I think the current implementation is best though. If using a light gun it becomes less accurate if you use a smaller tv.
At least with the sensor bar the range from one side to the other is the same no matter how big your tv is. - Epyn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah way to chime in if you haven't played RE4, which has a totally different control scheme than the older titles.
- Jezmund, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1WOOO its about time. Been waiting for this since e3
- IMustBeEmo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Actually, there is one. Look closely. Closelier! (South Park =D)
- Noremac, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1they need to get some house of the dead, area 51 stuff. i guess duck hunt will be good enough...
- EvanVolm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@thenativeraver
That joystick has been there ever since the first pictures of the "blaster" were released, actually. - DyslexicDan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1We have seen a "on rails" shooting game in Rayman and it work well enough. Granted it was a bit slower paced then RE:4 but its in the ball park.
- ThankTheCheese, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I notice there is an analogue thumb stick at the back of the prototype. I presume this would mean you could play a FPS and move around completely with the gun -- no need for the nunchuck. that would be very very cool :D
- henrythehorse, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Now I can buy a seventieth controller for my Wii.
- guywhodoesstuff, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The day I can have a AK-47 shaped Wiimote is the day my life begins.
- NeoCortex, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I don't understand why news sites use GameStop as a source for information. They don't know anything that we all haven't heard through rumors. They just make up their release dates, prices, and specs in order to be able to take reservations. Then they update their info once there is real news about the product.
- piratearggghhh, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Has it come down to this? Excitement over a $20 plastic blaster and anticipation for game that came out in 2005 along with 20+ year old NES games?
- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Personally, id prefer to load the wiimote in the butt of the gun, as if it was an ammo cartridge XD
But thats highly unlikely since the wiimote already has all the necessary sensors in it, if it went in the butt they would need to waste money adding sensors in the muzzle of the gun.
Hmm, I wonder what the blaster addon will look like. At first I just assumed it would be like the prototype shown at E3 but then I was informed that such a device would be illegal in the US as all fake guns are required by law to have a bright orange tipped muzzle, no matter how blatantely fake they look. - ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Will Res Evil finally have decent controls?!??!!?
If it happens, I'll probably die of shock! - Zamfir, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1How "innovative"... Still holding on to Duck Hunt Nintendo?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2Wii is a last gen console that thinks its next gen
- swrostmore, on 10/12/2007, -15/+6since the normal wii controler can point-and-shoot, isn't releasing a gun peripheral redundant? Any console can sell an additional "gun shaped" pointing device. The wiis strength is that its out -of-the-box controller can be used in a wide variety of ways. If nintendo releases a wide variety of input devices (what are they up to already, 4?) then why couldnt other consoles simply produce a motion-controlled wii-mote knock-off for use with certain games, negating the wii's major advantage?
