- drakethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -4/+38Man I really need to get a Wii :-/
- danielrh9, on 10/12/2007, -4/+33This is really a service that Nintendo itself should be offering. It's a shame that you have to go to a third party for this sort of service. The WiiConnect24 service is a little disappointing so far.
- ThrasherC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21It can be a message OR a download -- it glows blue for both.
- mingistech, on 10/12/2007, -11/+22That glow means you have a message waiting for you.... not that the system is downloading something.
- negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15i find it funny that the incorrect comment about the blue glow meaning "message not download" is dugg up more than the correct response of "message or download"
the average digg user is a ***** retard. - ChemEng, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9@negativefx
Fixed: "The average digg user is a retard."
I think you were giving the average user too much credit there. - tehJR, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9I agree. I should have automatically received the update last week . I shouldn't have to read digg to get info on the new update.
BUT, I have every faith that Nintendo has big plans for it and will make us all very happy with it in the near future. - steponsnyder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6No, they'll still appear here - you'll have the pleasure of reading the articles twice.
- anonatron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Hopefully the updates will be more reliable than your server...
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I was going to post the same thing before I thought about it. My understanding is that you can't get e-mail from people not in your address book. That means it would be useless to sell/give away your e-mail address, and if you get SPAM from vc@darkain.com just remove him from your address book.
- MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5To those who believe Nintendo will set things right, look at the DS online capabilities. I'm still waiting.
I love Nintendo and think both the DS and Wii are great systems but Nintendo seems to always find a way to come up with awesome ideas and then screw them up. I'd say HOPEFULLY Nintendo will fix many of these issues but the fact that these issues exist is pretty sad in itself. - Lazybones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Demo's and more channels are coming in the new year. There is no question that LIVE is a WAY more mature and powerful service at this point and time.
It also isn't free... not that it really costs that much though. - berwiki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5No, they'll still appear here - you'll have the pleasure of reading the articles twice.
>:-) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Check Duggmirror before you link to it.
- bang21, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5My understanding is that the blue glow is WiiConnect24 working. That means you could just be getting new messages, but it also means it is automatically updating. It glows anytime WiiConnect24 is active.
- mingistech, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5When the News Channel launches they should have the new VC games listed.
- humanerror, on 04/03/2008, -3/+6Already done, and better.
http://www.wiikly.net - CaptainRotundo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wii Sports with my 5 year old son is fantastic. If you don't have small children around it can be just as fun with adults and alcohol :)
- ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4ambiguous language...
is this a suggestion ("They really should do that"), or an indication that they have plans?
My guess, a suggestion. - yugiohdan6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Everyone ready for Wii-SPAM?"
if you start to get spam just remove that address from your address book... you can't get messages from people that aren't in your address book - caffiend, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I haven't purchased Zelda. I'm waiting for someone to beat it so I can borrow it or buy it used. I bought Rayman Raving Rabbids used and love it. The wife REALLY loves it (which is prob the main reason I bought it). That game really utilizes the functionality of the Wiimote and it'll make you laugh.
- danielrh9, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Yeah, I don't doubt that Nintendo will start getting things right in the coming months. I feel that even if the system was ready for launch, WiiConnect24 wasn't. The only reason I can see for delaying Opera and the Weather and News Channels is that there are still bugs being worked out.
- whirlwind12, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Sounds Like i, Robot. Better watch out or the wii's will take over!
- mhusson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2An RSS feed would be way more useful for me. Does anyone know of a good feed for Virtual Console games?
- n8r0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Now if I could just find a Wii at one of my local stores...
- darkain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There will be an RSS feed tied into the same page mentioned above, as well as lists for every region comming soon.
- negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yep! because going to "What's New" is a difficult and traumatic experience. I better have someone tell me rather than see for myself.
- Lazybones, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It should connect just fine, the Wii is a wireless G device and supports up to WPA2.
http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/19/wii-faq-answers-to-your-wii-questions/
"Does the Wii support WPA?
Yes. The Wii supports WEP, WPA-PSK (TKIP), WPA-PSK (AES), and WPA2-PSK (AES). Pretty surprising!" - negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Bah! I prefer 'an indication of plans' because then my previous comment make sense ;)
- EbenieRosa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Caffiend
Did you post that on IGn the other week? about you and your bwife? - bsonline, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That's not why the Wii wont connect. I have the same setup, and it auto detected my network and works great. It stopped working after the 2nd update, I just recreated the settings and *boom* I had all the power of ...uh... Wii Shop at my fingertips.
- weprin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Judging by the fact that those whom are calling the average Digg user retarded are being dugg shows that more than half of the Digg user population thinks that more than half of the Digg user population is retarded.
Stop calling yourself retards. It's not healthy. - contextclouds, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This might not apply to you, but to get me by until more Wii games are out I picked up copies of Ikaruga and Eternal Darkness.
Of course this only works if you don't have a GameCube yet. - marcomc2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1When you beate zelda? ***** man, thats gonna take me a while. i mean, im about halfway through, but there is SO much left to do. by then, ill pick up metroid or something
- isthisnametaken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just as a general question to wii fans.
When you beat Zelda, what game(s) are you playing?
I was looking into getting one, but I really don't see much out there worth buying.
any suggestions? - caffiend, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@EbenieRosa
No, I have never posted on IGN. I guess Rayman is just popular with the ladies! - caffiend, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Lazybones
The Wii is 802.11b, not G. You have to configure your router for mixed mode if it is only outputting in G. - MaxSteele, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have an idea...
If you want to know what new virtual console titles are available, why not go to the "Wii Shop" channel and *look*. - spyder91, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6Everyone ready for Wii-SPAM?
- juheimbu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The last time I looked at "What's New," it showed me every game in the store. Not terribly helpful...
- AXNJAXN, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I've been waiting for something like this! Now I won't have to keep checking the Shop channel every five minutes on Monday to see if Gunstar Heroes is on the list.
- MattyLite, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Well you don't want your Wii automatically installing firmware updates . . . that's like begging to brick your system.
- MartyMcFly713, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Wow does this sign me up for spam too? That's exactly what i need, junk mail on my Wii.
No Thanks! - richrockx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2its a nice little feaure for them to notify you, personally, if I am waiting for a game, I might not remember what day it launches and I'd like the reminder, no matter how many release calendars I have plastered on my RSS news ticker
- Kolenka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Odds are that people who beat Zelda already (like myself) aren't trading it in until they 100% it... but then again, with sales beyond the half-million mark for Zelda in the US already, it is still possible for someone to be trading in the game soon.
- Squall06, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Well, whoopy hurray for Xbox. I'm so glad that digg is saturated with people who like to get involved with these "my dick is bigger than yours" debates. Dude, I mean no offense, but I am asking nicely, please allow yourself the pleasure of growing up and mature to a point where you don't have to compare video game consoles as if they're your favorite pokemon or something. We're all very happy for Xbox Live and it's auto-updates that have been "doen" for years now, and surprisingly most of us are just as happy that Nintendo has an officially online system, and so..... there will be digg articles that will have something to do with this feature. That's all little man, so be happy for those of us that are happy, and then you can go play Gears of War.
- loof, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Or ignoring them all together.
- diecastbeatdown, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1sweet! still waiting for the LAN adapter before i hook mine up. Since I'm running my wireless in a G-Only setup with WPA2/WDS the Wii won't connect.
- hansamurai, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I'm actually selling my Wii to my brother in law after I beat Zelda (over five dungeons in) and I'll buy another Wii once Smash Bros. comes out.
- virtualball, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Awsome, thanks!
Now I won't need to wonder what is new every week!
