- gandre, on 10/12/2007, -7/+50And 4 million Wii articles on digg....
- theblooms, on 10/12/2007, -5/+36Well, I guarantee one of those 4 million will be for my kid's (COUGH - COUGH) Christmas!
- arunforce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18One interview can spawn 10 frontpage stories on Digg.
- shrewduser, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16just so everyone knows what 4 million means, according to wikipedia the xbox 360 has moved 3.2 million consoles....
- BloodJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -20/+32Will you be my daddy?
- IcanFLY, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14The real point is that digg is what it is. If people choose to digg the many wii articles.. they will.. if people choose to digg the many vista sucks articles... they will... if people choose to digg the many apple articles... they will. Complaining about users being idiots/morons/dumbasses/any number of other insults will be ignored by most people. If you want to improve digg then submit your own high quality content. There is no point getting annoyed about what appears on digg, because i'm sure nearly every digg user has been annoyed at one point in time by some of the articles appearing on digg.
- marcusb, on 10/12/2007, -10/+19So don't use digg? The point of digg is that we choose the stories, so do not digg if you don't like it. In 5 minutes something else will be on the front page anyway, so whats the big deal? Digg isn't all about the front page.
- Oakes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Wow...I haven't considered that. Nintendo's planning to ship more in two months than Microsoft has shipped in five (the data is from March 2006). I wouldn't be surprised, either.
- EochaidRiata, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Wow, now these crappy blogs don't even bother attributing the story to the real source?

- mntpng, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9I don't think four million is enough. I predict shortages and therefore I will preorder.
- Spaz007, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6So True gandre... So True
- aplusplus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6All I care about it securing myself a green Wii. I also just felt very uncomfortable typing that.
- PhaseDMA, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5davidv - I'm not sure it counts unless you can actually sell them too.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I've pretty much decided that if I don't get a top-five reserve position at a *trustworthy* shop, I'll be camping-out for my Wii. I'd get to meet fellow Nintendo fanatics here in Austin, which would be a perk. And no doubt there'd be some really memorable DS matches that night.. :)
My boss at work knows that I'll be worthless to her for the days surrounding the launch, so I'll be sure to have vacation that week. Depending on what buzz the Wii has at that point, the camping trip might be 24 hours, 16 hours, or a mere 8. We'll see.
Aside from amount of time spent on the sidewalk, there will be other factors to consider.. do I camp alone and send my bf to wait at another store, just in case the store I'm at doesn't have enough Wiis? Or do I put all launch eggs in one retail basket, opting to go for comfort and with both of us at one store, thus allowing line-position-holding for food trips & bathroom breaks? And what do I pack? This would be my first console camp-out, so I'm just beginning to consider these questions. Kinda exciting, even if extremely geeky. - davidv, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7@ LR2
Sony says they expect to do the same, 6 million by end of the fiscal year in March. - zeldafan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'm still deciding on the color of mine, I hear black is very nice.
...I'm sorry to everyone that read that, I promise I won't do it again. - NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7I don't know if this is the case everywhere (and forgive me if this is old news to everyone else - I've never bought a console at release like I plan to do with the Wii), but my local GameStop told me that if I reserve a game any time before the pre-release of the Wii, they'll callme when it goes up for pre-release, so I can get in there and reserve it myself. I've already reserved Red Steel...
- gameboyhippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I really don't think I have a color preferance. I'm just going to get the first one I get my hands on.
- saudama, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1We can only wait and see what happens with this strategy.
- r0x0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1is 4 million enough?
if the wii is going to scroll like butter, then it will sale like flapjacks - mobbydick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They're planning to sell the same number as Sony (6 million). It's gonna get funny when Sony has shortages, or PS3s get left on the shelves.
- Darren07, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14 million i splenty, untill now, xbox360 has only sold 3,5-4 million consoles.
- LR2_, on 10/12/2007, -15/+16Anyone know the figures for the 360? or any other system?
- Anth, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I agree, 4M isnt going to be enough. I better start looking at places to pre-order them. Anyone know any reputable stores (ones that wont screw you by selling them in bundles or on ebay instead of fulfilling pre-orders) that have started pre-orders?
- theman8631, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6"And that's relevant, how?"
I'ts incredibly relevent, one of the most important factors of launching a console is distribution. If you can't get a console except using some service like the 360 trackers then their sales will decrease substantially, and the success of the console will coinside. - Siliticx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3what's so special? the ps3 is doing the exact same thing..
- romainechester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Same to you, sir.
- chayner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The big difference between the PS3 and the Wii is that almost 3 Wii's can be sold for the same price as 1 PS3. Features, game selection, etc aside... I think that the Wii will sell much faster on pure price-point alone.
- ZeroMP, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I can't wait to play with my own Wii
Wii rox the Gaystation 3 ALL DAY! - da_bradler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1are you sure that 3.2 million concles moved isn't just a north american figure, this 4 million is going to be split up pretty good 2 million will most likely go to japan 1.5 to north america and .5 to europe(just the way the margines are normally split) do you think that's still going to be enough?
- itanshi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3mm as i mentioned before somewhere, in a democracy we have the freedom to vote for our own slavery. so *shrugs* i do not reccomend people be pacisfist, but complaining is not as productive as action. so i have to agree with the given reccomendations.
- Wubbie, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Dunno why you were dugg down... Great information...
Thanks much NSMike, on my way to Gamestop to reserve Red Steel now as well. - Nodren, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2and the ps3's announcement made the front page too, what are you complaining about?
- o0joshua0o, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Wii roxXxorz. $0ny suxXx0rz. Wii is teh l33t and P$3 will get pwnt like a n00b.
- Anth, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Thats what I worry about - mom and pop stores, even kids at gamestop/eb/whatever, ebaying their first few allotments for $1000 each and making a huge profit. I wonder if NoA will do anything to them if they start to ebay all their units...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Does this include other countries?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2@ PicklePower. You must be new to Digg.
Digg is full of fanboys with the majorities of them are Nintendo, Apple, Google. so if somebody post an article about Steve Job's left pinky, i guarantee you will see it on the front page and expect about 20 reposts of the same article.
don't get upset. just don't digg it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Is anyone else concerned about potential launch supply shortages? 4 million consoles sold in November and December doesn't seem like much. My local retailers aren't taking pre-orders yet, with some even telling me that they'll operate on a first-come, first serve basis.
Of course, reading about the 360's launch shortages hasn't helped soothe my concern. Stories of people waiting in line all night only to find that the store would give-out raffle tickets really piss me off. And then there are the tales of people reserving their consoles as early as May/June/July, only to be told that they'd get their consoles once the second shipment finally arrived (whenever that ended-up being..).
If the Wii maintains this high level of buzz until Autumn, Launch Day could be really competitive.
Any camping tips? How early are you beginning your trip? :P - Killer_k, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I think we just have to wait and see if they are telling the true let's all hope so
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2This is the intentional "bury me" comment:
"The Wii Sux" - zukeft, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Ouch; don't you have have an official Nintendo store there? (I live in Colombia)
Either way, I'm going to end up importing it as I usually do with all of my games. - mrgreen4242, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Assuming this means worldwide totals, 4 million for the holiday doesn't seem like much. I mean, there shouldn't be any technical reason they are limited to 4 million (Sony has an excuse - new CPU with low yields), but the chip the Wii's Cpu is built on is pretty old news...
Japan gets 1 million, and N America gets 1 million, and the other two are split between the rest of the world (500k to Europe and 250k to Australia and S America, for example), that's going to mean pretty quick sellouts. I was hoping Nintendo would FLOOD the shelves with these things - they SHOULD be able to... Seems odd to me for some reason. - itanshi, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14 million? i doubt ya perception of the percentage is accurate there. Maybe its more like 1 million. hehe. Post some Jaguar stories then! DO THE MATH!! hehe
- walterd93, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4(Do you mean first or third-party? if third): Are you kidding!? There's going to be around 10+ thirdparties and 4+ first party games.
- Insert31990, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2I know where 1/4,000,000 is going to go.
Yes sir, I'm cleansing the spot where the Wii will rest as of right now ... - cfuentea, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Hope to have one here in south america!! (chile)
- totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2and one of those 4 million will be mine. oh yes, one of them will be mine.
- FullMetalMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -14/+7Wii'll there be enought for everyone that wants one.
