- replaysMike, on 12/03/2008, -2/+29It's really because we don't have to move out of our chair - ever tried playing sports with Dorito's in one hand and a mountain dew in the other?
- linkinkampf19, on 12/04/2008, -3/+28Headline aside, the article itself shows the poorly wrought knowledge of the author. I couldn't get past the sixth paragraph: "...thanks largely to Windows 95, techies were already masters of "Doom," "Quake," "Counterstrike," and "World of Warcraft."..." Maybe I'm behind the times, but I don't think CS and WoW were out when Win95 was king. Maybe precursors, but come-on. Probably just an oversight on the editor's part. I'm thinking way too critical here.
- stachesnmullets, on 12/03/2008, -0/+22The guy in the thumbnail is awesome - the cigarette seals the deal. Newport from the looks of the pack by his monitor. Brilliant!
- tEhKewleSt, on 12/04/2008, -0/+21No, you were not thinking too critical, that was a glaring mistake. Whoever wrote this obviously has very little knowledge on the subject matter.
- drgkstep, on 12/04/2008, -2/+16Agree with headline, article is dull and not insightful. Not buried, but not dugg nowise.
- Doomsan, on 12/04/2008, -0/+12Dugg for the caption pic.
- Demener, on 12/04/2008, -0/+11That part irked me as well.
DOOM and Warcraft 1 sure, but Quake, WoW, and CS by the Win95 release? - Refluence, on 12/04/2008, -0/+10It is dark. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
- TehJonneh, on 12/04/2008, -0/+9Good to know I'm not the only one who actually read that through
- EtherGnat, on 12/04/2008, -0/+9That's not the only error.
"no games ran on Windows 3 in the early 1990s"
Lots of simple games ran on Windows 3. Hell, they should have known about Solitaire and Reversi which came with the OS if nothing else. - tkilgore04, on 12/04/2008, -0/+8"What are you looking at, Mom?" Victor asked from his favorite spot in the basement of his mother's suburban home.
"Oh, it's nothing son... Your mustache is coming along quite nice, and in time for the holidays!" - spiralspirit, on 12/04/2008, -1/+91) Fallout is beautifully rendered. It's awesome.
2) COD4 is a kick ass shooter game. - RedRummy, on 12/04/2008, -0/+7SELECT * FROM Digg.Users;

- hackop, on 12/04/2008, -0/+6Why are they recommending two yet-to-be-released games (SC II and Diablo III)? Seems like whoring for game companies, really. Not that the games will suck, but c'mon.
- tgc1, on 12/04/2008, -0/+6Photoshop fail. That monitor never had a color screen.

Invalid object name 'Digg.Users'. - rknowles10, on 12/04/2008, -0/+6Agreed, I distinctly remember installing and booting up the likes of Sim Farm and Commander Keen on my Windows 3.1 system.
- theshizzler, on 12/04/2008, -0/+6That was a remarkably shoddy article.
- derekmas10, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5dugg for picture of my boss

- Dracura, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4Sys admin playing World of Warcraft? Looks more like a badly photoshopped Facebook page to me.
- lornefs, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4Mine was Diet Coke and Ritz.
- lornefs, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3Oh yes, there was a time when that could have been me and I thought I was so cool!
"Dammit Mom I'm on the BBS, I'll eat later, jeez. Aw Dad, just 5 more minutes." - norcalscan, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3turn on the lantern

too late you were eaten by a grue. - oninbonin, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3As she secretly contemplated her ever shrinking chances of being a grandmother..
- primaldefense, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2I have always been a big fan of Beer and Nachos. with the stack of paper towels so my mouse and keyboard stay clean during lan parties.
- jfsimard79, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2And what's even funnier than the fact that WoW only came out 10 years after Windows 95 (late '04) is that WoW is actually quite a mainstream game. With 10 million subscribers it is not only for the hardcores out there.
- telosmachina, on 12/05/2008, -0/+2I'm sure there are plenty of geeks here, but I guess there aren't any grammar geeks. The whole sentence was, "When PC games finally reached the masses, thanks largely to Windows 95, techies were already masters of "Doom," "Quake," "Counterstrike," and "World of Warcraft." He's really saying that techies were masters of those games when PC Games became mainstream, not when Win 95 came out. I guess the correlation between gaming and techies is stronger than between techies and grammar. :0
- pandaxrage, on 12/04/2008, -2/+4Dugg for mechano-strider reference.
GNOMES FTW - Cashmoney504, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2How does one intertwine the meaningless task of eating with gaming???? Insanity!!!
- stk198323, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2They talked about lost viking? Darn I missed the part about it, must reread everything now!
- diemunkiesdie, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1Shooters? Screw that! Bring on some platformers! I loved Super Mario 64, hands down best game ever!
- jfsimard79, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Notice that too. I mean they will probably be surefire hits but you never know. Article seems fishy to me.
- inactive, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1For *****'s sake, Fallout 3 isn't the poster boy of RPG games. What is wrong with you people?
- stk198323, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Yeah and not like they can't recommend Diablo II and SC I that are out there already and that a lot of players are still playing online!
- taxman, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1I always thought it was because of logic. Games put us in this universe which is governed by a set of rules. So we already know all of possibilities and logic behind the happenings in the game world (eg. X number of bullets kills the locusts, XYX combo to perform a particular move). So we use this knowledge we gain in the game world to beat the game.
And also it is fun. - nostradukemas, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1"Today, [editorial director of GamePro] Jones figures more than half of all hard-core PC gamers work in tech."
That's some real fact finding. - DiscardedCheese, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Does bowling Quilify as a sport? Half the fun in bowling is eating or boozing it up!
- pnunn, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Thank you- that was bugging the hell out of me.
- oninbonin, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Yeah I was playing doom, wolf3d, commander keen and rise of the triad then, not quake or cs and definitley not Wow, it's only 4 years old lol.
- CrushThemTorg, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1The "Call of Duty" pun makes me want to end the Gamepro staff with fire.
- Meocross, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Of course pick the thumbnail of a fat bearded suspicious civilian...
- telosmachina, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1The exception proves the rule – baseball. In the dugout you can munch on sunflower seeds, Gatorade, and, well... Dorritos, hot dogs, Sprite, nachos, beef jerky, and beer for that matter.
- Namingway, on 12/04/2008, -5/+6gamepro ftl....
- hocusposus, on 12/06/2008, -0/+1Syncan?
- tkilgore04, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1Her recent match making attempts with the daughters of her quilting club friends had ended in nothing short of disaster. She is still trying to remove the stains from her newest quilt.
- Cashmoney504, on 12/04/2008, -2/+3Civilization FTW, long time fan of this series, only dissapointment was Civ2.
