- TheSquid, on 11/02/2007, -3/+158"...but can I beat GH3 this Christmas?"
Start on easy, it will help you get better. - Bakkster, on 10/17/2007, -4/+90In before "Why don't you learn to play real guitar, join a band, buy a tour bus, and play shows in Stockholm?" and response of "Why don't you learn to play football and join the NFL".
- dan0368, on 10/17/2007, -2/+45Although I think Rock Band is the better game, Guitar Hero 3 is going to win the holiday season.
GH 3 - $100 for PS3/360 version
Rock band - $170
And aside from that, as someone else said, Guitar Hero is part of pop culture but no one knows what rock band is yet. They'll all probably think its some cheap rip off of GH. - j4nj1m3n3z, on 10/17/2007, -4/+43because rock band is not coming out for the wii.
- felman87, on 10/17/2007, -2/+35It costs too much, that's what'll hold it back.
- DiggerRich, on 10/17/2007, -1/+24The orange button looks intimidating at first, but you can do it.
- KingGoonie, on 10/16/2007, -5/+24Because its 100 bucks cheaper for the complete game isnt it? I mean guitar hero complete package is the guitar only... And because much much much much much more people know Guitar Hero. Its a part of our pop culture, on tv shows, movies, etc... ONly gamers probably heard of rockband at this point.
- sparrowkc, on 10/17/2007, -0/+19God, do you understand what he is saying?
Guitar hero feels like you are actually playing the song at a high level, more so than playing scales in your basement. Madden feels like you are actually playing pro football, more so than playing catch in your back yard. - verifex, on 10/16/2007, -2/+14Isn't there enough room for two rock band sim games?
- shadydentist, on 10/29/2007, -1/+13I consider Rock Band to be the true GHIII.
Unfortunately, I can't get Rock Band for the wii, so Guitar Hero 3 it is. - RubberbandLN6, on 10/16/2007, -1/+12I love how everyone forgets that EA is behind Rock Band too and I'd say in just a few weeks, the advertising blitz will start. Then everyone will hear about Rock Band, and that $160 won't seem like that much to a lot of people.
- Lynxplus, on 10/16/2007, -1/+11Cost too much and has too many parts that require you to have friends to play with.
- parkerhiggins, on 10/16/2007, -0/+9I've read (and of course, I'm not a drummer, so take with a grain of salt) that on expert it's actually note for note the drum part. So, that's cool.
- Phil8, on 10/16/2007, -0/+9That's what she said.
- soulscreme, on 10/17/2007, -3/+12Umm, it may be worth it, but it is expensive. It's only $80 less than the Wii for 1 game. Whether it's a fair price is not the issue, it is objectively a lot of money. It is triple the cost of most games. Also, the expandability is a lie. Rock Band 2 might be able to have more instruments, the code for Rock Band is set in stone once it ships. Also, the songs don't have keyboard parts. Finally, I have never seen harmonix talk about adding more instruments.
- logicalnoise, on 10/16/2007, -0/+9It all depends on the in-store demos and word of mouth. GH got popular via friends and family word of mouth and via in store demos in best buy and such. If EA can secure primo instore demos for people to try for the holidays then it will easily sellout in no time..
- cjdunn, on 10/29/2007, -1/+10Burying this because the author thinks Bret Michaels is a selling point.
- MrHate, on 10/17/2007, -0/+9Correct me if I'm wrong (and I may very well be) but I think the extra 5 buttons are the same as the top 5. You just move up higher for the solos so you feel awesome like Malmsteen.
- overkilpro, on 10/16/2007, -1/+10uhh dude there's a reason it's called GUITAR Hero
- Snakedal337, on 10/16/2007, -0/+8Harmonix is claiming if your able to play the drums on expert you should be able to pick up a real drum kit and play the songs. Hopefully thats true.
- SharkyTech, on 10/29/2007, -0/+7"I'm fairly sure a drum kit has more than that thing."
You're talking about a game where the guitar has ten buttons. I think it might just be a simplification of the actual instruments... - mrhorseshoe, on 10/16/2007, -4/+11Rock Band wins by default for the drum kit. I hope drum expert mode is challenging enough (ie. close to actual drumming).
- RxDaniel, on 10/16/2007, -1/+8Only on the internet can having friends be considered a bad thing.
- NeoCortex, on 10/16/2007, -1/+8Buried for ripping off XKCD without giving credit.
- juicebag, on 10/16/2007, -0/+7And most people already have GH controllers, lowering the price to 50 or 60.
- NightOwl4, on 10/17/2007, -11/+17but will it blend?
*hides in shame* - PixelD, on 10/16/2007, -0/+6Rock Band only has one major flaw. How are they going to let me play 'Don't Fear The Reaper' and NOT give me a cowbell instrument.
The nerve of them - Kamakazi15, on 10/16/2007, -0/+6Guitar Hero 3 is just more of the same. Rock Band actually tries to do something new. It brings a whole new aspect into the music rhythm games.
- xtremesniper, on 10/17/2007, -0/+6I think GH3 will win because not everyone has people to jam with at all times of day. I mean, with all my friends out living in res, I have very few people left around my area that can actually come over once in a blue moon. Since Rock Band is so group focused, I'll be picking up GH3 simply because it's easier to play alone.
- godd4242, on 10/16/2007, -1/+7Did anyone else notice how terribly that article was written?
What garbage. - logicalnoise, on 10/16/2007, -0/+6however in the end I think everyone agrees that RB will be the fresher and more enjoyable of the two games. Every impression of RB has been extremely positive(I even got to play a few weeks ago). Anyone who has gotten their hands on GH3 has agreed that it keeps in pace with the past games but the new battle modes don't add much and even make the game less fun.
- RxDaniel, on 10/16/2007, -0/+5Did you just prove his point while disagreeing with him?
- Asianwaste, on 10/16/2007, -0/+5That and it's hard enough to gather friends you can rely on in a Halo clan... let alone a person who has the right peripheral device and can use it well.
- Rikushix, on 10/17/2007, -1/+6That`s quite possibly the worst logic I`ve ever heard. "Its 200 bucks cheaper than I expected!" Therefore, it must be a better deal than a product that is actually competitively priced for its value.
- TheCommodore6, on 10/16/2007, -0/+5I tested the drums this summer at Harmonix in Cambridge.
I was only on easy and have never played drums before, but it was indeed difficult. For someone that has no notion of a drum kit, the bass pedal can be very confusing.
Bumping it up to medium after playing through career mode on easy, I almost failed.
I can see how the expert level will be at a very similar difficulty level to real drums. - ElectricGrandpa, on 10/16/2007, -0/+5Not when they each cost $100+
- soulscreme, on 10/16/2007, -3/+8Thanks for the completely non-constructive criticism.
- LoopyChew, on 10/16/2007, -0/+41. I'd like to know where you can pick up Drummania in the US or Europe without having to mod your PS2. Or were you referring to some other drum simulator which happens to be widely available in the Western Hemisphere that you were referring to?
2. What RxDaniel said. - gglynn07, on 10/16/2007, -0/+4Piano...Really?
- Kamakazi15, on 10/16/2007, -0/+4Not to mention that Rock Band will have full albums for download later on which add a ton more songs.
- SharkyTech, on 10/16/2007, -0/+4Meanwhile in Australia: Some idiot decided it would be a good idea to try and price gouge the GH3 bundle at the cost of AU$170 (PS3 and 360). Seriously, WTF. I bought GH2 for $120 and the Australian dollar is at about 85 US cents.
- Goombellaofgoom, on 10/16/2007, -0/+4I doubt that many game stores have room for a full-scale Rockband demo system. Room for four people to stand around one screen without blocking traffic? Not likely.
- johnhummel, on 10/16/2007, -1/+5I'm still waiting to hear if there will be Rock Band on the Wii. If there's going to be a Wii version within the next 6 months, then I'll get GHIII for the Wii. If not, I'll go the PS3 route. That's the only thing I'm waiting to find out, and sadly, Rock Band's PR people have been annoyingly silent on the issue and only heading into marketing speak every time someone asks the question.
- badfrog, on 10/16/2007, -2/+6Who cares what game "wins"? I'm buying both, and not complaining about prices. I'm sure both will be awesome.
- Hartley1942, on 10/16/2007, -0/+3I can see GH, but not Madden. Not even close with Madden.
- XivGNP, on 10/16/2007, -0/+3Sorry no, the game itself is going to be by itself at launch along with the bundle, just like they've said all along and just like it's listed on every single online store. Honestly, I don't know how people can spout utter BS when they can be proved wrong within 20 seconds on the same utility they're typing the *****.
- blahtastic, on 10/16/2007, -0/+3Hes right. Rockband bundle is set at 170 for 360 and ps3 at the moment as well.
- zzia10, on 10/17/2007, -3/+6"Finally, Guitar Hero III is going bigger than ever before. As of now there are 36 songs announced for Rock Band. There are 61 songs confirmed for Guitar HeroIII. This may be the biggest point of all. Out of the box you are getting a ***** load of music. Really, you're getting close to twice the number of songs." -Retard
First off, since when is 61 close to 72? Second, why is this dumb ass acting as if the ANNOUNCED track lists are the final ones? There's still songs left to announce! - imdeanlabouty, on 10/16/2007, -0/+3http://www.duggmirror.com
- soulscreme, on 10/17/2007, -0/+3Just because you say something doesn't make that something true.
