- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+33Any article with the words "pwn" should never be taken seriously
- mkp2k4, on 10/12/2007, -9/+39We all know this article is true.
Why?
Because it's fact-based. - nuclearpenguins, on 10/12/2007, -6/+33Huh? Another anti-Sony article makes the front page? Surely you jest.
- ReCkLeSsX, on 10/12/2007, -6/+28PSP isn't really don't THAT bad...
Some great games coming out this season. - Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21I do...Now you know :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+23Facts based...did they send Marty McFly and find out?
- eggo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19I think the PSP is an amazing piece of hardware. The attitude of Sony is killing it if anything is. Stomping on the homebrew apps, not allowing writable UMDs, killed it for me.
- shit, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20No, we know it's true because it's on the internet.
Abe Lincoln owned a jetpack.
The previous sentence is now true. Open your history books to see Abe's trusty jetpack fade into existence like on Back to the Future. Hurry! - DollaDollaBill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1512% difference, not nearly as bad as people make it out to be
- negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20I had a DS and a PSP. Played through all the good games on PSP and still didn't like it. After selling it on eBay, I swapped out my DS for a DS lite, and have never been happier.
The games on PSP are flashy, the graphics are great...can't argue that, but they just don't have that lasting power of the nintendo first party games. Except for Hot Shots...that game rocks the house.
It's just simply too much hardware and not enough software. Too bad for Sony :( - MoeB, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14The fact of the matter is that nintendo has had portable gaming systems for years and this is the first time that sony has put out a portable. In my mind sony has actually had a good result with their first portable. look at the original xbox and how that did compared to the ps2. and now the xbox360 is a major competitor in the market. you people are just blowing steam.

Alternatively, just claim the whole article is "fact-based" and be done with it. - bokchoi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I use my PSP as my media and game player since I'm not cool enough like the rest of you to own an iPod. I'm content with my purchase, its a great piece of hardware that just gets negative publicity because it is the Sony brand.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/12/2007, -7/+18I own a DS, I dont plan on buying a PSP, but this whole 'DS is killing the PSP' is ridiculous.

and Nintendo had it's DS out longer! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14O RLY? I like my PSP it keeps me company at night and scares the monsters away
- WhereAmI, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11as a matter of fact, 360 currently owns the ENTIRE next gen market.
...
lol - MoeB, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10you obviously haven't played loco roco
- Primedeath, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I agree, people need to learn of homebrew. It brings a lot out of your PSP. :)
- twtmc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9PSP sucks for games, no doubt, but the homebrew for it is amazing. I would never trade in my psp for a DS because the PSP has all sorts of free apps and so many uses. Although, I am not really a person who plays a lot of games on the go.
- AshTR, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9It's not down. Click again.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13Unless MGS:Portable Ops makes it out in time for christmas, i can't see a reason to buy a single psp title for the remainder of the year :-/
- negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13longer battery life?
- danneyboey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Check out the lineup of games coming this fall/winter. It's going to be awesome.
- negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Tip: post with a Buy It Now price of $200 (if it's value pak and version 1.5) they go like hotcakes.
- keikun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I own a PSP, while my brother owns a DS. I've played them both and they both have their good features except for that fact that my brother always wants to play my PSP. The PSP is more than just a portable game station so you just can't rate it on the same criteria as you would rate the DS. Anyways, there are a bunch of great games coming out quite soon actually, FF7:CC, Lumines 2, and MGS:PO to name a few.
- shit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Alright, that's the last time I make a BTTF joke without scrolling down two posts.
- thunderball, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I never really used by psp for games. I put on tons of mp3s and cool backgrounds... the only thing i didnt like was the 4 button typing when using the wifi
- dustinbaxter, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12The psp is better than any other mobile gaming platform available. The games rock, madden, ncaa football, gta vice city stories, hot shots golf... what more do you want?
- pbjorge12, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11"That's Sony's issue, not my problem."
In the great words of Reggie Fils-Aime - NatsuMatto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I find most people who say the PSP's games are "crap" have never played many PSP games in the first place. Most of ANY system's games are crap. 4-5 of the PSP launch titles are still great games that I can play today... and since then, there have been at least a dozen or so other games worth playing. Each system has its own strengths... I love my DS as well, but after buying 10 games at the DS Lite launch, and playing them for about a week each, I am left without anything to play either... they may be innovative, but they don't last very long.
For a lot of people, this whole Sony vs. Nintendo thing is like Apple vs. Microsoft. I can never understand why people define themselves based on the products they buy. - dacheetah, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8My Fionceé has one, and it's great.
Personally I hope that they make way more than they can sell so that they wind up dropping the price to sell off stock. (That's how I got my old Nokia 5510 for less than a quarter of what they wanted to sell it for. But that's REALLY old now...) - senmu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I got Initial D: Street Stage (import) for the PSP and it rocks. I think there is still life in this piece of hardware for me as I don't own any designated portable video devices so it can act as one for me. There are a lot more interesting import games for this platform than the North American releases though. If you're looking for a new title, be sure to check them out.
- RubberbandLN6, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7I don't know, I have a PSP and DS but I seem to get more addicted to my PSP games much more than my DS games. I mean if you find some gems on the PSP, then it really is amazing. Hot Shots Golf, Lumines, MLB 06 (which I play constantly), Portable Island, Ridge Racer, Pursuit Force and many others, not even counting the ones on the horizon are all amazing games.
People really don't give the PSP enough credit, it is an amazing machine with tons of really good games. It just seems as if many people still can't get over that long shortage after the PSP was released. - TychoQuad, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6This article is stupid.
It states rumour as fact (the PSP2)
It basically says that portables are pointless in the face of home consoles
The author although only breifly mentioning it knows nothing about the DS, deciding again to follow the age old stereotype that Nintendo is for kids (granted, proven true with the Gamecube, but not true with practically ever other console, I am 23 and love my shiny white portable)
Portable gaming and console markets have seperate targets, and yes of course the portables are going to suffer this holidays due to the sales burst on the home consoles, it's too far from saying that sales are going to be abysmal. It makes me wonder where gaming money is going to be spent by Americans who aren't lucky enough to score one of the 400,000 PS3's that go on sale. Xbox360? maybe. Wii? maybe. PSP? maybe. We'll have to wait and see. - BBad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3it's the only next gen thing on the market so far.
- solarisom, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Nintendo DS: "1, 2, 3, 4, I declare a thumb war."
PSP: "Owwie."
Seriously, though, I don't think it's fair to compare the two, most people I know make use of the PSP's amazing screen (pick up the pace on that Apple, the rumors are killing me) and other media options. - aran86, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@ *****
"Abraham Lincoln once said that 'If you're a racist, I will attack you with the North' and these are the principles I carry with me in the workplace." - thediggguy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8Sony has so much negative publicity in digg, makes me think they should hire someone to write something good about them!
- sakuraz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2But if it's bringing you the games on PS2...on-foot, isn't that already enough?
it's called PS Portable for god's sake - bnolsen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I bought a used DS a year ago, just before Nintendogs came out. Got a really sweet deal at the time.
After reading all the stuff online about how the newer firmwares have been getting exploited I decided to jump and grab a used PSP, just slightly more money than the used DS cost me.
So far neither platform has impressed me, The DS touch screen really shines with the Sudoku that comes with Brain Age, but no other games have really *grabbed me* yet. The PSP's graphics are cooler with more potential to revive old PC/Dreamcast games, but so far the execution has been wanting. Hot Shots is pretty cool. I also have the first Untold Legends which went for graphics only and didn't give a rip about gameplay.
I'd say if anything the PSP's failure can be laid right at the feet of Sony. Too much reliance on 3rd party (Nintendo is the opposite btw) and wanting to own and control everything. The UMD format could have possibly made a kick ass optical disk PC format that fit in a 3.5" drive bay if Sony had wanted it to.
They still live in this fairy tale land where the PS? rules the world and they can never lose. - BBad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1dont really see they psp having a bad holiday season with games like gta:vcs, Mgs:po, MoH:H, Socom Ftb2 and Killzone Liberation. Sure people are going to get the latest consoles that are coming out (Wii, Ps3) but that doesn't just rule out sales for the PSP. PSP gamers have been looking for something to play and 4 of the 5 games I've listed also include online support, two of them are system seller, so I see the psp going into the holidays strong.
- ActiveMatx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4The article is so flawed. Spreading rumors about a "PSP-2.0".... which has 8gb of flash memory on-board...
oh please, that rumor was de-bunked so hard like 2 weeks ago..... please, dont digg this article, its only driving money into the authors site from his advertisments, from his false claims. - levyjl1988, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1psp can be used as an extra controller for the ps3...
- antmess707, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Its not our fault you have no friends.
- UberC, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2From article: "the majority of society can be easily classified as buying 'what they need'"
Is that why 50 inch plasma TVs are so popular?? Because society needs them? - stappawho, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Fact based?
I woke up this morning and had a threesome with Heidi Klum, Jessica Simpson and Jessica Alba.
That is fact based since I did wake up this morning. - somesthetic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2maybe if homebrewers didnt primarily just run illegal roms.
