- NaziHatinChimp, on 04/28/2008, -10/+120Let's face it. Neither is "better". If you like the PS3 more your going to like that version more and vice versa. Love achievements and XBOX live/DLC? Guess which one you should get? Are you a graphics whore and can't accept the Xbox version has worse graphics get the PS3 version. I think that DLC sells the Xbox one for me, but it is a toss up because I know my 360 is going to kick it one day.
- inactive, on 04/28/2008, -2/+80Kotaku really knows how to get traffic.
1.Post an article about GTA4
2.Discuss which version is better...the PS3 or 360
3.Wait for fanboys to flood your site
4.Profit! - KingDrewsky, on 04/28/2008, -7/+83Buried. Without a in-depth comparison of the multiplayer modes, PSN vs. Live, this article is incomplete.
- Dan11023, on 04/28/2008, -13/+77Im going for the ps3 version.....
because thats the only console i own... - shinythingy, on 04/28/2008, -25/+83You don't have a PS3
- dheaddy, on 04/28/2008, -17/+74Achievements and DLC tip the scale for me

"For those wanting to know which version looks better, the edge goes to the PS3. The textures and framerate are comparable, but the PS3 has far less pop-in. The 360 has richer colors, but the PS3 has better anti-aliasing making it look a little cleaner. Because GTA IV can preload onto the PS3 hard drive, the in-game loads are faster." - smashingmonkey, on 04/28/2008, -4/+48Such a drag that MS didn't make the hard drive standard this time around. Boggles the mind.
- rofflecopter, on 04/28/2008, -14/+58How about a PC version =D! Get to it Rockstar!
- Nayson, on 04/28/2008, -36/+79Downloadable Content is the single most important thing in my decision. Ill take the 360 version.
- richjmdigg, on 04/28/2008, -22/+64I was going to go with the Xbox 360 because of the downloadable content but stories of the Red Ring Of Death have put me off. Plus I keep forking out £40 a year for Xbox Live and not really playing it all that much and it's free to connect to the multiplayer on the PS3. I''ve always played GTA games on a PS2 so I'm liking the thought of continuing the series on the same controller shape.
Either way it's going to be brilliant on both and all the differences I've heard about are ones that aren't really going to bother the average gamer. I'm expecting the plot, cars, graphics etc to be so engrossing that I don't notice the minor gripes and if I do, chances are I won't care. - tuxidomasx, on 04/28/2008, -1/+39IM GETTING IT FOR WII BECAUSE OF THE NUMCHUCK COMTROLLER AND PLUS GAMEPLAY IS ALSO BETTER TAHN GRAPHIX
(just felt like contributing to this fanboy-laden comment thread with my own fanboyish comment. observe how it makes absolutely no sense at all. it should fit in well) - sandeepg, on 04/28/2008, -4/+42Y'know, you should really put quotation marks around the part of your comment that's taken directly from the article.
In your case - the whole comment. - NeoTechni, on 04/28/2008, -26/+59Um, IGN is reporting the PS3 one as having better AA/textures/framerate
- Turambar, on 04/28/2008, -6/+39PC version would have the best of everything, as well as the possibility of user created content.
- inactive, on 04/28/2008, -25/+56And no one on this site expected truspector or asslaven to pick otherwise. Big surprise.
- gblackbox, on 04/28/2008, -10/+36Taken from the XBOX 360 section of IGN

Anyway, why should we trust kotaku over IGN or vice versa? They're both respectable sites. - BeeArePro, on 04/28/2008, -2/+263.5 ????
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 04/28/2008, -2/+26Hence it does not come as "standard" on ALL 360s.
The moment you start pushing consoles out the door without a feature is when developers start to shy away from requiring it and hurting their potential consumer base. - sandeepg, on 04/28/2008, -6/+28I don't know why you're getting dugg down NeoTechni. It's true, at least on the UK IGN site. Gametrailers says the 360 has a better framerate while (the UK) IGN guys are saying the PS3 does.
Hmm.. - richmomz, on 04/28/2008, -10/+30Depends on what's important to you I guess but regardless it will be awesome on BOTH systems. XBOX live and DLC put the 360 over the top for me though.
- latova, on 04/28/2008, -7/+27PC here too. It'll be worth the wait.
- terencec, on 04/28/2008, -2/+21I'll take the PS3 version, only because I have a PS3 and not a 360
- inactive, on 04/28/2008, -18/+37Problem is they aren't rational coming from you two. You grab hold of the smallest irrelevant thing, and say it's what counts.
An extremely small amount of PS3s (less that 1% of the 2% of PS3s that do die) get the YLOD, you are all over it, posting the story 5 times.
Yet you were trying to de-emphasize the RROD which affects most of the 33% of 360s that have died, and according to many sources will eventually affect 100% of all 360s given enough time.
Not only that, but truspector lied about the 360 one having a better framerate and PS3 not having achievements.
The PS3 one will also have game invites, buddy system, communication in-game (just not with people playing other games) and custom soundtracks. It wouldn't have multiplayer without it, all PS3 online games have these features. - cnot3, on 04/28/2008, -5/+24I'm buying a PS3 just so I can play this game. I want to see those spectacularly rendered crack whores.
- kahlessreborn, on 04/28/2008, -14/+32To bad thats not what the article says:
Graphics
The two versions are so close to identical, visually, that putting together a comparison was a challenge.
The PS3 version, with its required HDD install, loads missions a couple seconds faster and decreases pop-in.
Just face it they are about the same it doesn't matter. - Sedako, on 04/28/2008, -9/+26From IGN:
"For those wanting to know which version looks better, the edge goes to the PS3. The textures and framerate are comparable, but the PS3 has far less pop-in. The 360 has richer colors, but the PS3 has better anti-aliasing making it look a little cleaner. Because GTA IV can preload onto the PS3 hard drive, the in-game loads are faster. Don't worry Xbox owners, the load times are rarely more than 30 seconds and don't occur very often. The slight visual edge goes to PS3, but the 360 is no slouch. Either version will do you proud."
PS3: Better AA, less pop-in, faster load times
360: Richer colors
Decide for yourself what you'd prefer. - slightlygifted, on 04/28/2008, -5/+22is anyone really wondering which version to get? they are obviously gonna get the version that plays on the console they own. not many people own both a ps3 and 360.
- Equinox1, on 04/28/2008, -3/+19Quite frankly i don't give a *****, I'll just be getting it for whatever system i have, in this case, a 360.
- thailand1972, on 04/28/2008, -7/+23Never owned a 360 or PS3. I'm going to buy a PS3 for this game because I'm too afraid the 360 will break. It's that simple.
- Aitese, on 04/28/2008, -6/+22You really don't know what you're talking about...
- herrshuster, on 04/28/2008, -6/+22dear god...not truspector again
- dig1x, on 04/28/2008, -11/+25Do you have a citation for that? People have been following this pretty closely, and I've never heard that at all.
- shirosamurai, on 04/28/2008, -4/+18Your post is full of sense and logic. Two traits most the fanatic fanboys around here don't have.
- theaceoffire, on 04/28/2008, -7/+21I dugg him down because I don't approve of name calling.
But I honestly don't remember you saying anything nice about anything besides Xbox, Wage. - NaziHatinChimp, on 04/28/2008, -2/+15You lost me.
- NeoTechni, on 04/28/2008, -14/+26Why? IGN says you're wrong. Your reply is irrelevant.
- smashingmonkey, on 04/28/2008, -2/+14Exactly, SpeedSteamBoat1 - and before there was an arcade version, there was the core version, sans hard drive. There's a reason GTA doesn't make much use out of the 360 hard drive and that's probably the reason the 360 version suffers from more pop-in than the PS3 version.
- pastasauce, on 04/28/2008, -1/+13Usually when all the hype dies and it becomes impossible to avoid spoilers.
- Akaji, on 04/28/2008, -9/+21Didn't MS pay loads of cash for 360-exclusive DLC?
- steveoco, on 04/28/2008, -2/+14I will get the version which works in my console...
- CarzorStelatis, on 04/28/2008, -2/+13This is the Digg discussion for the Kotaku article, therefore we are discussing the Kotaku article. If you want to discuss an IGN article, go to its page.
- aceakm, on 04/28/2008, -6/+17Haha, owned.
- bilbohicks, on 04/28/2008, -4/+15Where can you get an xbox360 and the game for £159.99?
On play.com, it is:
360 + GTAIV = £199.99
PS3 + GTAIV = £299.99
The presence of a BD-ROM, the absence or RROD and the fact that I don't have to shell out £40 just to play it online means that I will be purchasing the latter, if any. - inactive, on 04/28/2008, -1/+11I wouldn't say you wouldn't be getting half the game...thats bit of a stretch
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 04/28/2008, -5/+15You should forward this to all of the 33% of 360 owners who have had systems fail on them and see their take on it.
Second opinions are always nice. - strictnein, on 04/28/2008, -1/+11Who's digging this guy up? MS paid $50 million for exclusive rights. That's the end of the story right there.
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 04/28/2008, -1/+11half the game? Are you serious? Surely, you can't be serious.
It's some extra missions not a second city or something. -
