What would you want in a Wii “Elite” model?
wiiliving.com — Seeing that Microsoft has launched their 360 “Elite” system, it got me wondering what folks would want from a Nintendo Wii “Elite” system. I would assume most folks would want better graphics, more storage, and better high definition support, but what else can come up with?

- Zap2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Not really anything they mentioned...the wireless senser bar and controller would be nice, but not really worth a new console. Plus I'd think Nintendo could upgrade the Wii to allow this. More storage space would be great.....but again if Nintendo lets us play VC games off SD cards, there is no need to upgrade the whoel system. DVD play back would be nice, but again not worth a whole new system for me.HD would be welcomed, but I'll live honestly. If Devs would make some decent looking games in 480p I'd be fine with that. And DS support, WTF? That would never happen! ANd the light gun can be bought as an add on, no need for a new system.
What the Wii needs can all be done w/ software. Online games(w/ the 1 Wii code) and makes it universal. If I have "Bill" for Mario Strikers, I want him for all the other online games I have too. New download able games would be welcomed also...and basicly games.
Maybe a VC with Gameboy and Gameboy color games...and let us use those USB ports!! Let me play music through me iPod!!- KnockoutNerd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I would want more then one good game to launch with it.
- robbh66, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I want to be able to walk into a store and find a regular Wii first...
- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7No chance in hell for better graphics/HD support, which are pretty much the same thing anyway. Releasing games for the "Elite" Wii that weren't supported by the standard version would be marketing suicide.
There's absolutely no reason they couldn't release a wireless classic controller, or wireless versions of NES/SNES/N64 controllers for the Wii as it is. Same with wireless sensor bars, which are easy to make by yourself anyway. DVD support is achievable by a software patch/dongle, additional storage is on it's way with USB-drive support, and wireless nunchucks would be the dumbest idea ever as recharging them would be a bitch. No point in releasing a whole new Wii model just for recharge stations either.
So there's not a SINGLE good suggestion on the entire list, and it's blogspam to boot. Extremely buried.- nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6better graphics ARE NOT the same thing as HD support. If that were true, PS3 games wouldn't look so good (which they do, 360 games to) on an SDTV.
- NipGrip, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You guys both missed the point of the article.. It's not saying the suggestions are the end all greatest, it actually finishes it open ended asking for your thoughts as to what would be good enough additions to quantify an "Elite" version. It's not asking what you think of the ideas so much as it's trying to build discussion as to what you think would be good ideas. Instead of ***** on the "blogspam" (in which this case the blog has zero ads), how about bringing something to the conversation and add your thoughts on the matter.
- nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3how does this guy think it would cost 500-600? I see MAYBE 100 worth of stuff.
- gamabunta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Just make better games and I'm happy. Nothing except Zelda has lived up to the hype so far.
- Binome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2widespread availability.
- nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What do I want in a Wii Elite system? R.O.B. v. 2.0
- Bartboy919, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ermm, a black version that comes with a component cable and some Wii points would be enough to get me to buy one. Add zelda for free you get double brownie points
- gwolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The only thing holding the Wii back a little is it's lack of, at least 720P support. It's CPU is supposed to be as powerful as Xbox 1 it's games should look at least as good.
More colors, Black, Chrome, Fire engine red with matching controllers.
How about a wireless nunchuck?
Fix Wii connect 24 so it doesn't heat the machine up so much when it's idle, it's a little worrisome. - RamboJesus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes, I would LOVE a R.O.B. II. Yes, the first one sucked, the first one flopped. But I really think if Nintendo put their back into it they could make something awesome.
