- tynansanger, on 07/24/2008, -0/+77If The Dark Knight had said ***** three times it would have been rated R
- mikesbaker, on 07/25/2008, -3/+49if the dark knight had been rated R it would have been the best movie ever
- WhereAmI, on 07/25/2008, -3/+44Oh thank god there were no *****. I would have been greatly offended if there were ***** in the movie.
*****! - Kingfisherx, on 07/25/2008, -0/+20That makeup would've distracted from the performance. The Joker's makeup was creepy in Dark Knight but Ledger put the ***** up into it.
- DarkDx, on 07/25/2008, -2/+20They should have used the "prototype" joker make up they had: http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh192/Batman_ti ...
Damn, I think that make up alone would have earned the movie a R rating! lol.
Now, seriously I feel that they toned it down just to get the Pg-13 rating, it still was an awesome movie anyway (the best movie I have seen, ever). - Donwangugi, on 07/24/2008, -8/+26I do not think it deserved an R. No language, no sexual scenes, no blood. We can do the same thing that the article did with Video Games. Consider the Saw movies: Do you think those movie belong with the same rating as the Dark Knight movie?
I agree with the article which points out how flawed the way politicians deal with game ratings, but I do not agree that the Dark knight deserved an R rating. Look at, another example, Titanic, which did not receive an R rating, yet it had Nudity, a bunch of people dying and someone freezing to death. Or how about the Bourne movies, which had a lot more action. - solesoul, on 07/24/2008, -3/+19Do you realize that nobody cares who submits the story? I never look at the name under the story, and I only realize its a Mr.BabyMan article when I see comments like yours.
Most people on digg just come to read the stories and the comments, and we don't care how it gets to us. - Mist0r_Wiggles, on 07/25/2008, -0/+15protect the eyes of the children!
don't use them for magic tricks involving a pencil... - Chainheart, on 07/25/2008, -3/+14In before a truckload of moans and bitches about another TDK story on the front page
- ABadPerson, on 07/25/2008, -1/+11it is all part of the plan
- topace3000, on 07/25/2008, -2/+9You have exposed the hypocrisy of the system and are now a great hero.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -1/+8Anyone who thinks movie laws are governed similarly to the ESRB are smoking some major crack.
Everyone knows the MPAA ratings aren't officially set out in stone. Movies can be PG-13 or R depending on the nature of the content! Not what the content actually is. - ericrous, on 07/25/2008, -0/+6Well, we don't won't our innocent children to hear any foul language or see any S-E-X in the midst of all that senseless violence and mass murdering.
- Murdats, on 07/25/2008, -1/+6is he causing you to lose anything but bragging rights?
if it actually was costing you money then fine, but its not, you just want your precious status. - mikesbaker, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5Rambo 3
/jk jk - pilot3033, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4Well that's the rub, both ESRB and MPAA ratings are arbitrary and are not bound by any law as that would violate the 1st amendment. Rather both systems work based on private cooperation between distributors and vendors. If a someone tries to tell you it's illegal for a 15 year-old to see an R rated movie, they are full of *****. A theatre may not let a 15 year old see it because of the agreement they made, but there is no legal basis.
And that's the way it should be. I'm all for social programs, but GTFO of my content. I'll decide what's harmful for me, and for my children thank you. Especially when you consider that there is no conclusive evidence violent games and movies "corrupt" children, just as there isn't any evidence that rock music does either.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -2/+6You guys are ***** idiots, Donwangugi is talking about the hypocrisy of the system.
Next time try not to jump on who you believe is some narrow-minded censorship advocate.
***** idiots - Darkwave, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4Watched TDK yesterday and I can say that for once I dont agree with it being a 12A (which is the equivalent of your PG-13) but on the other hand I dont think it warranted enough to be a 15. There were some quite young children in the audience and this being the 1st showing in my local cinema I dont think I would have personally taken them to see it if I had known.
But I spose people think "It's a Batman film.. how bad can it be?" - Zippo, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4It was rated PG in Canada.
- darthgoat, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4I'm going to make this pencil disappear...
- Pradsy, on 07/25/2008, -1/+6New way to feature your story on Diggs front page?
Let the story contain Batman, The Dark Knight, The Joker or Heath Ledger. - inactive, on 07/25/2008, -3/+6I hear something this 5 times a day. It really gets annoying. Especially when it has nothing to do with the article.
- alexra, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3You can have someones brain based in, be burned alive, castrated, stabbed, shot, blood gushing out of you head, have your skin torn apart, limbs torn apart- R rating
When two people are having sex, not like sex you see in the movies, thats not real, real sex- NC-17 - inactive, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4Hackers
- Rev0lver, on 07/25/2008, -3/+6I don't mean to nitpick, but it's "pussy.'" Not that hard.
- BestJaxx, on 07/25/2008, -3/+6"I would never take a thirteen year-old to see the Dark Knight," because apparently age represents ability to respect art. I went to see this with four other people, we are all 14. We did not love it for the violence, but for the same reasons that adults did.
- CrimsonBlur, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3I don't know, the "makeup" for Harvey Dent was pretty extreme. I'd say that was worse than a big cut on your mouth, and that didn't change the rating. Granted they kept the full shots to a minimum, but they still showed it a lot.
- Darkangel754, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2The Canadian government seems pretty lenient when it comes to ratings, Super Bad was PG14
- masterandalf, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Unfortunately, some parents dont look at the actual game. They see the words "Nudity" or "sexual references" and automatically assume it will be the equivalent of a porno, when in fact it may be something as small as a sexual joke, or the nudity may be locked away in some deep part of the game and you only see half a second of boob anyways, but since it's there, the ESRB has to put it on the box. The problem is parents either care too much, or don't care at all, and children from neither side benefit. You have rebels from the overprotected, and you have people who think it is all normal and fine from the parents who don't care. With games, most parents don't enjoy them enough to go through the 15+ hours of gameplay plus all the extra content to screen their children from anything wrong. Anybody agree with this?
- jimmick, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Ok, violence and lack of swearing aside.
If I saw this movie at age 8, I'd be traumatized. - peoplerstoopid, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2They are ***** diggs....if this website is how you rank your self worth, then just kill yourself now because you're going to do it in the future anyway.
- reddevil3, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2The rating system is f'd up. Apparently saying ***** or showing a tit is what makes it not suitable for children, not violence.
- DarkDx, on 07/25/2008, -5/+7So it's good to steal the story from a less fortunate user (not a "top user") and submit it and get ***** of diggs because you are a top user... MrBabyMan should have dugg the original story, and if he wanted it to get public I bet a ***** of people are friended with him and will see it in their friends update.
Let the buries begin in 3......2.....1... - inactive, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2They say games actually let the person be the person who is doing all the killing and it's a "rush" - which is all *****. Pressing a on my controller doesn't in anyway simulate me shooting a AK - 47, despite what these hard headed politicians claim.
Who really gives a ***** about the rating? The movie was badass. I don't really give a ***** about the rating. - exomni, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2What PG-13 movie has three *****? I thought only one was permitted.
- ScionX, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2The parents can decide if they want to allow their children to watch it. The rating system is just there to give you an idea on what all is going to be in it.
- RyRytheflyguy, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2pussy
- BiggestAl, on 07/25/2008, -1/+3Why so serious?
- Sithseth, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2A "best" movie is one where there isn't a grouping of loud teenagers, or crying babies.
- Owwmykneecap, on 07/25/2008, -1/+3Just letting people know, spoilers galore here.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1no, you're saying that because you watched the 86 version first, there's no way anyone can portray a better hannibal
- M724, on 07/27/2008, -0/+1Another example of ignorance when it comes to gaming. Video games are bigger than any one individual, or even a handful of misinformed men and women, can ever imagine. Try to control a beast, and it will destroy you, eventually.
- mastern, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1I saw the film Wednesday. I just assumed it was rated R. This parent in the front row brought her little kid to see it and at unsettling scenes he kept crying. I was gonna blame the parent for bringing the little kid in and scratch it up to bad parenting, but at a PG13 rating, it's more the MPAA's fault cause people treat PG13 like its PG or G.
- scuzzmonkey69, on 07/28/2008, -0/+1it was a 15 over in the UK - same as 300, Eurotrip, and quiet a lot of other movies.
- exomni, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1People being eaten alive by parasitic aliens? Their bodies being torn apart in grotesque ways? Their torso's exploding and a bunch of disgusting squirming parasites flying out of the cavity in their chest? A man's face smashed to a gory pulp after he's infected and bloated into a disgusting ballooning organism? People burnt to a crisp with flamethrowers? Hallways painted with blood?
Yeah, you're a ***** idiot if you think that isn't M deserving stuff. - SabrinaHeaven, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1STOP WHILE YOU'RE AHEAD.
- BiggestAl, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1Ars doesn't need this article to get dugg, it gets dugg a hell of a lot of a lot of the articles.
Have you been under a rock? - kidathinnes, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1I sooooo wish this was rated R. You know the level they could have taken it to with that rating?
