- razmig, on 01/10/2008, -6/+56Though I didn't look into the website much, as you didn't actually link to it, from my understanding It has (for the most part) already been done, and very well if I may add by GeeVee, a digg sponsor, (http://www.geevee.com/).
- sobe86, on 01/10/2008, -2/+22Direct: http://www.wegame.com/
- Gunsotsu, on 01/10/2008, -4/+24So, what's wrong with just using youTube?
- Xraven92, on 01/10/2008, -2/+21geevee > WeGame
no totally rad show contests on WeGame. - BlaenkDenum, on 01/10/2008, -0/+11Nice site, but does it have a free screen capture tool? Yes I know, we can each just use something like FRAPS, GameCam, HyperCam, or Taksi (Open Source), but I'm just trying to spot out the differences.
- ChImPCaBiN, on 01/10/2008, -3/+14http://www.geevee.com/
- Fox318, on 01/10/2008, -1/+11It's not targeted towards gamers and they tend to take videos down(Janus Syndicate Videos for example).
- seldon452, on 01/10/2008, -0/+7Looks like this "internet" is here to stay.
- inactive, on 01/10/2008, -4/+10GeeVee has a bigger database already...

- bigteebo, on 01/10/2008, -0/+5Put in the Terms of Service that you can't overlay bad death metal music over your game video. Leave the audio intact.
- inactive, on 01/10/2008, -2/+6Nicely designed site.
- Virgule, on 01/10/2008, -3/+7last time I checked FRAPS need FRAPS installed so it can view its own AVI footage. It need a WMP plugin or something... Not to mention is soak SO much HD space thats not funny. MPlayer OS X is the only player I know who can play FRAPS files on a Mac. There must be a better compatible thing around..
- MrLlama, on 01/10/2008, -0/+4O RLY???????? RU SHUR????? I DDNT KNO THT!!!!!
- Samsong, on 01/10/2008, -3/+7WeNeedMoreBandwith.
- xTRUMANx, on 01/10/2008, -1/+5Installed it and tried the video recording out. Tested a warcraft 3 test map which was completely bare bones. The regular recording gets 640x480, didn't slow the game down but looked awful. I got about 83.5mb used for a 42 second clip. The HD mode recorded at 1024x768, made the game laggy but came out looking good. 193mb for 47seconds in HD mode. Personally, WeGame doesn't offer anything new or useful to gamers that have been recording videos in the past BUT that was the same case with youtube when it arrived in the scene. Personally, I rate the software a B- for its recording capabilities.
- Myst3r1o, on 01/10/2008, -0/+4I've already uploaded a test video to it... directly from my computer with the WeGame client. The quality was pretty good, better than YouTube, only downside is that you can't actually add text(or whatever else) to the video when uploading, you gotta do that separately. Oh well.. still a great site which I will be using a lot.
- EvilFerret, on 01/10/2008, -0/+4It takes them 2wks to upgrade a computer. No thank you.
- defektiv, on 01/10/2008, -5/+9buying FRAPS was one of the best purchases i ever made. the only reason you'd consume HD space is if you were capturing everything at high frame rates, full screen and sound record enabled. and i have no problem playing FRAPS movies on other machines that don't have FRAPS installed or even any video editing software.
apparently mentioning FRAPS gets you dugg down here. come on people, grow up and have a freaking discussion for crying out loud. - SiNN4R, on 01/10/2008, -1/+4Whenever I am about to get a game I usually check it out on youtube to see if I like it. This could be neat.
- Fox318, on 01/10/2008, -2/+5Geevee, Gametrailers, Gamevideos, and WeGame are all good sites.
I just wish Stage6 would take off more. - sevenalive, on 01/10/2008, -0/+3i know stage6 kicks youtube's ass. Hi-def, surround sound and great video quality.
- kidcodea, on 01/10/2008, -0/+3dude u cracked me up. "vista pictures". awesome
- SemiSarcastic, on 01/10/2008, -0/+3hmmmm...needs more Metal Gear Solid and Phantasy Star Online.
- julanrouge, on 01/10/2008, -0/+3and so was larry ellison (oracle), li ka-shang (richest man in china), roman romanovich (richest man in russia), paul allen (microsoft), and michael dell (dell computers) to name a few....
- inactive, on 01/10/2008, -0/+3Good point.
- antdude, on 01/10/2008, -0/+3Than!
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -1/+4How is this any different than normal?
- Dhalgren, on 01/10/2008, -0/+3This seemed really lame to me until I saw that they actually put together a desktop client for recording the video. In my mind, that spells success. As much as I hate to admit it, the easier you make it for the retards, the more successful a product is...
- emperor799, on 01/13/2008, -0/+2see also gametrailers.com, gamevideos.com, geevee.com, YouTube...
- mungk, on 01/10/2008, -4/+6I've got a few hundred megabytes of old Q2 CTF demos sitting around here. Maybe I'll upload some of those for posterity's sake.
- 4rch, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2Man, what the hell am I still doing in college then?
- MutatedNantuko, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2Wasn't it twain that said that on average you fail 9 times out of 10?
- Slimer, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2uhhhhh i'm still buffering a video
/comments about their desktop recording software seems valid though - epborden, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2Went there and watched some of the videos. Seems pretty cool. Good niche website. Guy obviously has better ideas that me lol.
- inactive, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1The file size is huge because it is uncompressed at first. Compressing in real time takes too much processing power. When you are uploading it, it converts it to .flv.
- turpenine, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1and all of his previous failures where what? he was also a senior afaik.
- piesforyou, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1Very insightful
- Rehnborg, on 01/10/2008, -2/+3I like GeeVee better but its good to have another site for montages and whatnot.
- Emachine, on 01/10/2008, -3/+4seems like someone launches a new youtube for gamers everyday...
- caddyalan, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1It all depends how harsh the service decides to be on its users.
- bloodwings, on 01/10/2008, -1/+2digg has become blog spam. link direcly to the website next time instead of some ***** blog please.
- bapplebo, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1The difference is, is that WeGame just entered it's first public beta, and that GeeVee has had time to settle in. While we're at it, GeeVee can be seen as a video-sharing site, but mostly for gaming-related stuff, while WeGame from the ground up was built to support gamers.
You can look at it in two ways. A free game recording application, with a website tacked on, a YouTube-for-gamers website with a complimentary recording application. Both which GeeVee lack. - Slimer, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1you should feel obligated to do so, if not for the sake of a) wasting your time then do it for the noble goal of b) wasting his server space
- solidus636, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1and from Harvard too!
- inactive, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1Use Fraps with Virtual Dub to compress the video.

- knetworx, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he's talking about some other kind of "Vista"...Although, sadly, I fear that he is not...
- ig33k010011, on 01/10/2008, -1/+2geevee.com is so much better....
