- EntropyMan, on 10/12/2007, -7/+439Forget Jack Thompson. Someone please take this to Dr. Phil and make him eat his words.
"Dr. Phil," I'd love to ask, "If you hadn't known anything about the shooter and speculated that he was black or Jewish or an 'illegal alien,' wouldn't that make you a bigot? So why is blaming video games without any sort of knowledge or evidence any less repugnant?" - Chakz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+337Maybe if he had video games he could have taken out his rage in a virtual environment.
- DrToad, on 10/12/2007, -5/+214Take that JT ...
- stonedgeek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+115OMG! He had Dremel tools! Dremel's turning our youth into violent killing machines!
- mpw115, on 10/12/2007, -0/+92I heard an interview with his dorm suite mate on MSNBC. He said he had never seen him play a video game.
- elvenseven, on 10/12/2007, -7/+88Not watching porn is a sign of mental illness.
- howzitgoin88, on 10/12/2007, -4/+80Lets see Jack worm his way out of this one...
Phil too, for that matter! - Cwo655321, on 10/12/2007, -2/+73whatever, you know he had a copy of viva piniata stashed in there somewheres
- longhair, on 10/12/2007, -0/+68Unfortunately, parents that heard Jack Thompson's comments on how videogames are responsible for shootings like this take it for fact. The damage is already done. It's sad.
- GawtMilk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+45Does this mean Jack Thompson lied? I for one am in total disbelief!
- ploskinj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+45George Bush went back in time and killed the dinosaurs because he knew their corpses would decay and become oil for his rich Texas petroleum buddies. I saw it in a documentary on the Internet.
- snopromise, on 10/12/2007, -0/+41I don't think this will keep people from trying to blame violent media. People use shocking events to promote whatever cause they want.
- Sanchez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+35This is basically the biggest OH SNAP ever.
- Gizza, on 10/12/2007, -5/+39"Seems like an incomplete rundown. Will be interesting to see what was on the seagate. My money is on a huge porn supply and a buttload of pirated games."
It was only 80gb. That's hardly enough room for a huge porn supply let alone a buttload of pirated games. - InstantRamen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35Hey Jack Thompson ***** You.....oh i am so ..so sorry video games made me say that
- popabawa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34"why do fags need their own cable tv channel 'gay TV' and now this."
Consider for a moment that you are gay and you read a comment like that above.... Does that explain it? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32If that is the case - he wasn't a gamer for sure.
- joel8x, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32@EntropyMan
It would be great if gamers would organize a protest at Dr. Phil's studio for blaming their culture for this - I guarantee you will get media coverage. - 1MaskedPenguin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31My mother already called last night and lectured me about the evils of Diablo 2. I'm 31. I told her if she didn't quit, she was going to be responsible for my homicidal rampage. In all seriousness, Jack Thompson doesn't need proof for the religious right to listen to him.
- visje, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29This is just a game to look for something to blame!
If he was playing with games, games were to blame.
if he was playing with guns, guns were to blame.
if he was obsessed with woman, playboy were to blame.
if he was obsessed with god, the church were to blame. - abid786, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31He had barely heard him speak!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29I don't know about the rest of you, but after 6 hours of halo, I don't feel full of rage. More like, I'm ready to take a nap.
- FishyJoe, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30The search warrant doesn't report the analysis of the hard drive unfortunately. Nor does it list the contents of the two boxes of compact discs. Hopefully they won't find anything on the there either, but it's too early to claim anything conclusively.

The "Ask Dr Phil" link on his web site is:
http://www.drphil.com/plugger/respond/?plugID=9163
I say we ALL respectfully ask him to apologize for his false accusations. - chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29you know Jack is winning on this one right? If he'd of said nothing nobody would even be talking about games. The fact it's in the air and is a talking point is enough for him. Hate to say it but the more you talk about him the more attention he's gonna get from places like Fox.
- tacroy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23This is the message that I sent to Dr. Phil. Feel free to edit and send out as you seem fit. NOTE: Do not flip out on the guy, do not cuss, do not in general SUPPORT HIS OPINION by responding with violent and immature reactions.

Hello, recently I heard Dr. Phil, in reference to the recent events at VT claim that video games certainly had an impact on the killer. It has been shown since then that the killer was not a gamer and indeed as shown by the search warrant here http://i.a.cnn.net/cnn/2007/images/04/17/warrant.pdf did not even OWN any video games.
In fact numerous studies have shown that as video games have become more prevalent that youth violence has DROPPED. http://gamedev.cs.cmu.edu/spring2004/handouts/IDSA_video_game_violence.pdf
As Dr. Phil seeks to enlighten people and change the world through truth I would ask that he address his comments that, due to lack of information, gives a un-earned and derogatory reputation to video games and the people that play them.
Dr. Phil is a respected resource for culture at large and owe it to his viewers and himself to make sure that the opinions on his show are both factual and intellectually honest. Thank you, Micah Sawyer. - JagoX, on 10/12/2007, -9/+32Christians are the LAST group of people who should be lecturing others about not judging others.
- skunkit, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27I guess they are going to blame music now?
- andyrobo60, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26They must have made a mistake somewhere. We all know that video games are the source of all violence everywhere in the world today. He must have hidden them somewhere so people wouldn't find them.
- Xeminis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19jer2eydevil88:
Does the part about "Compaq computer from desktop" answer your question? - dtfinch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17People need a safe way to vent their built up anger and frustration, like video games.
- Cerialthriller, on 10/12/2007, -6/+222 GB isnt even one porn DVD.. my collection fills a 300gb seagate and i have to delete old stuff to fit the new stuff in
- jer2eydevil88, on 10/12/2007, -9/+25He released his videos in quicktime to NBC, I am willing to bet he was a Mac user because not many English Majors bother learning how to export as QT on a PC and as far as I know Windows Movie Maker doesn't support that natively.
At least thats what CNN says the videos were released in.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/04/18/vtech.shooting/index.html - Lennalf, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18You're still playing Diablo 2? Damn. In real life you must be walking around with a conviction aura.
- RabidFurby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15He DIDN'T play games, that's why he was f**king crazy!
- vtmn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Green computer paper? That sick *****.
- JagoX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18Dude STFU with the conspiracy theories and the "woulda coulda" statements...you can't back up your statements in any way so just go away.
- All4not, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16People like Dr. Phil have so much more influence on society than video games. They show real people doing things that are unethical or immoral, that's how they get all their viewers. You can't seperate that from reality, because it is reality and the media shows it to you. The media had more of a negative influence this kid. He talk about Columbine and those kids basically being his heroes. The more media cover stuff like this the more sick people like him will end up going on shooting sprees in school and universities. It's only a matter of time before it starts to spread to work, sporting events, or other public places.
I say were make a push for banning extremely negative talk shows like Jerry Springer, Montell, Dr. Phil etc. :P - Junkyarddawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14None. He was a huge fan of 50 Cent, though.
- MasterFunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Frankly I find it interesting that the overwhelming chances said he did play video games. Today, how many 23 year old boys don't own ANY video games?
- LLamaStar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15If someone were to read nothing but the bible all day long, and then do this, the media would still blame video games.
- prominator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13No Beer and No Tv Makes Homer Go Something Something. Go Crazy? Don't— Mind— If I Do!
- sameagain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13"Consider for a moment that you are gay and you read a comment like that above.... Does that explain it?"
I wish it were possible to digg someone up more than once - Nespithe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12***** i forgot what video games did hitler play again?
- chrisbg99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Everything I can tell about this guy: he's heavily narcissistic, has a persecution complex (which is why he compares himself to Jesus), and believes the "bourgeoisie" (i.e. rich kids) are holding him down. Along with being heavily paranoid, he is just one crazy *****.
Actually I wouldn't be surprised if he hated videogames as they could have to him seemed like the things that the "rich kids" play. - Pic0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11dont bring pirating into this... RIAA would love that
- Namco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I wonder if he was a digger?
- skyfire1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Oh dear God. Wait until they find out he has solitare on his computer. :(

You're an idiot.
