- ConsultantJR, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23I can't wait anymore!!! I'm going to freeze myself until the Wii is here!!!
- JViz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20For some reason I read the title as: "WWII Targets on Google Maps!"
- soulpiercer7, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14it isn't a craze. people are just interested in where they can get a Wii
People really need to stop capitalizing the two "i"s. it's Wii not WII - WOTEugene, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11We're working on fixing the server... hang tight folks. Something weird is up with apache.
- WOTEugene, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11We're back! :)
- GenericGuy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13No, I do not think it is a ploy by Target.
In fact, it is quite refreshing to see actual inventory number for once. I was annoyed to no end when EB World / Gamestop could not give pre-order numbers or dates. With these numbers I know it might be worth my trouble to drive 20 minutes away to the store with 60 units instead of my local store with only 33.
Either way, I'll be waiting inside the Wal-Mart Supercenter prior to midnight and using Target as my fallback location. - Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11This tool brought to you by PS3seeker.com
lol - mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Science damn you!
- kasted, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11doesn't work with duggmirror :(
- ReCkLeSsX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Holy crap, I think I'll be heading over to Target on November 19th.
My local one is getting 210.
I sure hope these are accurate. - WOTEugene, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Ok, we're back up.. problem was that apache wasn't configured to handle enough concurrent users.
- WOTEugene, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This is the source for the data:
http://kotaku.com/gaming/rumor/rumor-crack-the-target-wii-code-212542.php - harikaried, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Here's a screenshot of what it looks like when it is working. But it doesn't really help you find inventory numbers unless you're in that same area. (South Bay Area California)
http://files.agadak.net/nintendoWii/wiiSeeker.jpg - jpbleuu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5i hope that was sarcasm, cause with about 2 weeks till launch day i hope to god all the stores know how many consoles they are getting.
- kirakun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's "Wii" with two lower case letter i.
- Bob042, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5It's really too bad that Digg kills all it touches but Google and such now. It makes a weird delay, since I have to read everything the day after.
- 1310nm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Doesn't work. I've already confirmed there will be 60 at a Target 4 miles from me, and 24 at another 5 miles away.
This is better: http://wickedsick.org/wii_finder/index.php - harikaried, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3WOTEugene: Thanks for fixing it so quickly. As a note, some zip codes seem to center on the wrong place.
- krazytom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It's up now.
Seemed to have a little problem with recognizing my zip, but tried another and got valid results. - HanSolo69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i typed in my area code (for Richmond, VA) and the map zeroed in on Maryland and didn't even list any Target stores South of Alexandria.
- ihate2regist, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6looks like the tubes are clogged
- pinsomniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"This one uses the confirmed Target shipment information..."
Really? Who confirmed it? I've only seen posts from IGN that have these figures, and those numbers have yet to be backed up. Of the Target employees that have commented, all have seen *lower* numbers than what was posted. - listrophy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I'm sure code efficiency is the main culprit. A straight-up html + no image website could survive a combined slashdot/digg effect. When you start making repeated calls to a database, sorting data server-side, or you just have poor code, the server will croak.
Having a full-blown CMS is not exactly advisable for high-traffic sites unless you have fat pipes of the network, processor and I/O varieties. - AhrenBa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Where'd the Best Buy units come from on that search?
- SgtBeavis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Question, where are you guys getting this data?
- SgtBeavis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1YOU fargin' rock!
- Atom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My ventura county zip is working w/o any problems. Looks like well be getting close to 200 total units in the area.
- Atom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yah die, lets totally disregard anything Nintendo has said. I mean who the hell are they to know when the launch date of their system is going to be. I mean who ever heard of people selling ANYTHING on a sunday. Its totally unheard of.
- ozziegt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah I am thinking something is corrupt on their end...I can't get any zipcode near me working properly. They are saying the local targets are going to have 120 and 81 units...which is also odd.
- Drumrboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1sweet... i have two places pretty close with 120 wii's each
and i have a couple others with 60+
looks like im gettin a wii! - iZealot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yea the superstores are getting 3x more from what I can see locally. I have no real clue why that is.
I would think its because they serve a larger geographical or heaver populated area. - pseudo.hero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That is a really high count, my city is going to have 111 at one store and 49 at the other. No worries for the fan boys.
- ozziegt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah I can't get anything in No VA working either.
- iZealot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No the list is legit. They know about a month what there allotment is. I have a friend who gave me his store number and she/he said that my number was correct. He warned me that they are not even supposed to revel the number so he wouldn't say anything past yes or no.
He said the PS3 number is between 1 and 10 but he could not reveal how few they would be getting because she/he would like to keep there job.
Great find so I digg! - Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice but doesn't work, I typed in my zip (tried twice) and it listed a different area further north. i'm in PA and all it showed me was NY, NJ, and Del.
- jewdiknight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How horrible. But I guess it is the American Way.
- krazytom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2We have a new Super Target in Thornton, CO and they have 135, while everywhere else seems to be 20-50. I wonder if they're giving more to new stores to promote them?
- jwasko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I'm in SW PA and it put me just east of Columbus, OH...in Pleasantville, actually.
I tried another nearby code and it worked, though. - dawgma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What about Canada?
- theehman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It didn't even show the Target in my town that my wife works at.
- Jahz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Here is another Wii mapper
http://wii.discretecorp.com
Check it out.
See you tomorrow Eugene. - WOTEugene, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For those who complained about the inaccurate geolocating, I just added a feature to let you recenter the search by clicking on the actual map instead of typing in a zip code. Look for the "Recenter search" button under the map.
- diecastbeatdown, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm not sure why people are clinging to the 19th as the shipping date. Do any of you realize that is a SUNDAY!! Anyone who knows videogames, or the US shipping policies in general, knows that games and consoles do not come out on Sunday or Monday. In the history of gaming there has not been one item sold initially on either of these days. I expect the actual arrival and unveiling to take place on either the 21st (Tuesday) or the 25th (Saturday).
Wii Will not ship November 19th. - WOTEugene, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0See one post above...
- WOTEugene, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just added some unconfirmed inventory figures for a bunch of other branches, using this data as the source:
http://www.digg.com/gaming_news/Wii_Retail_Allocations_and_Second_Shipment_Dates - eco2you, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0My Gf got me a WII for my birthday, I was pretty chuffed to say the least @:)
http://www.eco2you.co.uk - Dacheatbot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Ok, First off they got the zip code wrong in ventura county, and they say there are 60 units while the guy there says there are twelve. Help?
- Drumrboy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3nah, the craze is the same... its the internets that just allow it to visually expand :P
- shadgenki, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This is crap. Basically all it does is locate Target stores near your zip code. You have a lot better chance of getting one from Toys R Us if there's one near you.
