- shultzy055, on 10/12/2007, -0/+38why is a ten-year-old reviewing it?
- OpCzar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18It's flash in a browser. This isn't Wii specific, folks!

Happy? - theseans, on 10/12/2007, -10/+19link to the real site not a blog k thx
- skilless, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Looks cool, but it needs fullscreen.
- MuTeD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7By his voice you can tell he was nervious
- Powerdrift, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7That would be impressive if he made it
- LycoLoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4No, see, you're missing the point. It's not that we wanted it only about the games, we wanted the first and absolute foremost priority of Nintendo to be /the games/. We didn't want Nintendo shoving Enn-Ray down our throats like Sony did with Blu-Ray and the PS3. However if we can start making homebrew for the Wii, 360, and PS3 that allows us to extend the functionality of our existing consoles, well hell, that's just an added bonus. I enjoy playing games on my original Xbox, but at the end of the day it's great to come home and watch any movie or tv show on my computer from the comfort of my couch instead of in an uncomfortable office desk chair.
Edit: "Nintendo wanted it ONLY to be about the games!?"
If Nintendo wants it only to be about games, that's fine, but remember - this isn't being made by Nintendo. - Shorties, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4My Orb already has fullscreen and works better then this.
- Kazenodeku, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6The real site didn't have video (at least not on the front page). So in this case the blog was awwwright.
- drakethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Is a monkey controlling the remote? Either that or the person is having a seizure.
- bsonline, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Doesn't this basically make it really easy for anyone to browse everything on your computer?
- drn74, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2great
- evanfrey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The images that it uses to display which option you are on (My Videos, My Picture etc.) are lifted from the mythtv theme MythCenter.
- johnhummel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So the question is: could you use MythTV and get the same result?
- thasmadawg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The fugly interface comes up for me and I can browse everything on my mac but videos, pictures, and music don't work.
- dudad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damn. An apache server and WiiCR (http://wiibrew.org/index.php?title=WiiCR) are so much better. That doesn't even convert movies to flash.
- idmclaren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anyone have some tips on getting Orb to work? Do I need to change any ports or anything on my wireless router? It just keeps Loading and Loading and Loading... I have player set to Flash in settings, nothing ever shows up though. No Video, no Audio, and no Pictures.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2http://wiibrew.org/index.php?title=WiiCR
- funkytaco, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Jealous much?
- adz999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Haha i love the disclaimer at the end "all video files must be converted to .FLV's" so what we have is a webserver running and a browser displaying flash content from the server...its a start
- johnhummel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Got a FAQ page on how to use it with the Wii? I'd like to just point it at a local box, not make it go jump all the way across the Internet and back.
- judremy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's right at the end of the video. You use Wii Video 9. It's similar to the PSP Video program... Reading is fun :)
- Xyber411, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It has to jump across the net for the web pages, but the video streams locally on your network; So just set the speeds to static and really high and you will be happy with the quality (I hope).
- Bob042, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I really doubt a third-party app cost Nintendo much effort or development time. =/
- jonshipman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No, there's just so many of them it's possible this one MIGHT not be one arguing its only about Games.
- jonshipman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm waiting on WiiLi to come out and get VLC on the Wii. That should solve most problems.
- legioss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1what would you use to convert avi to FLV?
- Xyber411, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Oh yah, it's still being worked on, but I think it's nearing a working state: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Stream_mythtv_recordings_from_mythweb_using_flash_video
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1X"D Jealous that I have a Media Center PC?
LOL fail - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2BUT!
The wii isnt made to multitask, Nintendo wanted it ONLY to be about the games!?
Damn Nintendo fanboys are such hypocrites - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Looks like its got a fairly low FPS from that video, also could use an on-the-fly flv reencoding for standard video types rather than requiring them to be done manually.
Would love to see this linked to Mythtv, I remember hearing about using streaming flash for Mythweb but I dunno if thats still being worked on or whatnot but if it is it wouldn't be too hard to link them. - selfdisplaced, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1so this is really pointless...you have to convert the video files to FLV? what's the difference of making an FLV and putting it on a media card and watching it that way...it won't skip.
no digg as this does not fully work and is just plain useless. - Xyber411, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Open it in a new window. You'll have to go to mycast.orb.com and set that from your pc. Check the comments from the previous front page orb + wii post.
- emoo69, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0There is no faq's page on the main site, they just really give you the progarm and that it. The video on the blog kinda helps you to what to do if you dont have that video you would be lost. I know I would.
- MrSunshine, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5Linix?
- Xyber411, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Cuz they're not FLVs... RTFM
- emoo69, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4ya but the blog site had the video
- aminom, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I thought the same thing. Digg links to blogs run by 13-year olds? Wow, that is a new low.
- emoo69, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0Just In! You use Firefox Videodownloader and online flash vids form www.peekvid.com and put it on there and your set!!!!!!!!!!!! Free vids!!!!!!!! you dont even need to convert
- xymor, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3because only kids have wii's . HAHA jk
This is a browser based client for video streaming, nothing really revolutionary.
I'm still waiting for the ffmpeg guys to optimize their codecs to run on the PS3, so we can decode HD video/audio on the console. The first step towards a Ps3 MythTV. - Domza, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Yeah, its cool I guess... but with only 480p out, just how useful is it going to be for those HDTV shows you've got on your box...?
