- TheVetos, on 10/13/2007, -2/+18I got really tired of the audience going ape-***** whenever they saw something they recognized.
- Travisncs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9People cheering for video games...FTW?
Like a Dave Matthews show, it would have been bareable if not for the crowd. - lorddazzer, on 10/14/2007, -0/+7I believe this is Video Games Live?
http://www.videogameslive.com/index.php?s=home - Sentry420, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Yeah Its Video Games Live. They were on Tour (and still are),and came to Arizona and I went to go see it. It was pretty good, they played music from video games ranging from Frogger to Final Fantasy, from World of Warcraft to Medal of Honor, and many other games. Tommy Tallarico hosts it and he says his favorite game as a kid was Space Invaders, hence the whole theme. It was good except that their orchestra doesn't travel with them, so they tend to use one from the area in which their playing. Ours was from one of the local colleges, they did really well, but I bet it wasn't as good as the London Symphony Orchestra.... Also they had the video game pianist there (Martin Leung), he played the Super Mario Bros and Tetris Theme song, blind folded, to see that in person was kinda cool.
- rompom7, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Whats this? Video game music being played IRL.. Whoa.. I bet no one has ever done that before and uploaded it to the internet.
- Klarth, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7No. I hate you.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Since when is "ride of the valkyries" video game music? It says right there in the description that they are using scenes from the video games to orchestrate their music.
- card51short, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4its flight of the bumblebee, you bumbling buffoon
- Tenetri, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Gave me goosebumps. Glad to see the oldies getting some love. I liked how this one stayed away from what many others have done, which is just doing Mario, Zelda and Megaman. 10/10
- davidlitts, on 10/14/2007, -0/+3you sir are uninformed
- xoticpt, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5holy old crap batman... this has been on youtube for some time... how in the hell it made the front page of digg WAY!!! after is astonishing...

- carnag3aus, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4I didnt think it was that good tbh :S...
- longcat99, on 10/14/2007, -0/+2actually this was just a clip from a whole orchestra show, it's like 2-3 hours long, i saw it live. they DID play mario and zelda, and a bunch of other games like halo and god of war, etc. they also had the sister of the "video game pianist" playing that whole mario medley on the piano. this clip was just the very beginning with all the classic arcade games. it was amazing to see the whole show!
- IHaveIssues, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I was expecting better choreography between music and game action but alas ....
Disappointing. - pleiadianagenda, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Alot of philistines here. Sad. Having studied classical my whole life, i find this brilliant.
- NeoCortex, on 10/19/2007, -1/+2Music is meant to be enjoyed. If this is what people enjoy listening to, then I think it's great that they are getting into it this way. At least it's a break from mindless movies and tv shows and shows people that music on its own can be fun. Think of this as a gateway drug to experiencing more mature music down the road.
- antdude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yep, my friend and I can't wait to go the L.A. one next Friday. Anyone else, from Digg, going?
- Laxaloot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Was anyone else more impressed with the lighting design?
- Jolene, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I was at the Seattle show when this was making its first tour around. It was really great. Can't wait for them to come back.
For anyone that was at the Seattle show. I was the one that yelled out Earthworm Jim. - antdude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Next Friday for me. ;)
- mwalker05, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3its flight of the valkyries, you twit
- Spuy767, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Some of my favorite music of all time is Koji Kondo's tunes played by an orchestra. I also like to take video game midis and sequence them in a better synth so that they sound more lifelike.
- antdude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So? It rocks!
- mbthompson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Cheered out loud on this one. They had Gauntlet! Gauntlet!
- pchi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1wtf is wrong with break.com? even when i let the whole video download first there is still clipping every 20-30 seconds. someone please provide a link to this video on a site with a better flash player.
- protogenxl, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So how was life underneath the Rock?
- galleryfront, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1did anyone else's Tetris Brain think that every 'decent move' when the tower was pretty high at the end was a total screw-up?
- mbthompson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Sounds like someone is bitter since they decided to get a B.Mus. and found out the only work is teaching other musicians.
- card51short, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1what?! you mean someone has done it before?! BAN IT!
- davidarcila, on 01/10/2009, -0/+1what's the name of the game in 1:27?
- nextyoyoma, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1I know music is supposed to be enjoyed. But this is the difference between enjoying a bag of potato chips or a wonderfully prepared steak. Cheap thrill vs. real substance.
- manonfire285, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1504
- davidlitts, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I was also at the mesa show, i thought it was amazing
- Cythro, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1i'd never go to this concert only because the audience would never shut the fark up.
- davidlitts, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1i would but its the internet he had more than an opportunity to inform himself before he commented.
- revital9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Freakin' marvelous.
- nextyoyoma, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1I can't begin to tell you how much what you just said troubles me. I wrote a very angry response but decided not to post it, as it was irrational. However, I am still bothered by your comment.
What bothers me the most about your reply is that instead of actually replying to my post with an argument, you proceeded to attack me personally on an unrelated issue. - zendegany, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Is the coolest game ever made
- vism, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Joust
- vism, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0It's Ride of the Valkyries, and it has been used in a number of video games but I can't remember which off the top of my head. It seems to me they only used this in the beginning especially with those classic games which did not have music, after that they used the actual music from the games being shown.

- Eridrielle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I actually went to this symphony when it came into my city, and it was awesome.
This was the intro, after this they played all of the music from todays games, including WoW, Halo, Medal of Honor, Mario, the list goes on.
They even had games to play in the hall before the performance started!
It was awesome! - Tishiablo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1This gave me goosebumps: http://youtube.com/watch?v=NITRZK8z0ek
- turicollura, on 04/17/2008, -0/+0Some new music for Old Videogames here (youtube).

Modern and vintage mixed - xoticpt, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2yes it is... and it's been around forever... i'm really tired of old news being on digg...
- QcRef87, on 10/13/2007, -0/+0Whoa and I thought I was the only one! Chrono Trigger/Cross have two of the best soundtracks of all times IMO.
- mailboxhead85, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0It wasn't one of the local colleges, it was the Mesa Symphony (although I believe they just changed their name). There are students from Arizona State in this orchestra, but it is a professional (pay per service) orchestra.
