- filovirus, on 10/12/2007, -8/+177Especially if it was the same pornstar. iiichhhh.
- rolosworld, on 10/12/2007, -22/+165probably people thinking its the line for the bathroom?
"this is the wii line" - TeamOverload, on 10/12/2007, -5/+129Holy crap that line is absolutely insane..
- BassCadet, on 10/12/2007, -16/+92Insane is right.
I wouldn't wait in a line that long to bang a pornstar, much less to play a video game.
5 hour wait for 5 minutes of gameplay? No game is that good. - MOGua, on 10/12/2007, -5/+66dude, cutting isn't cool.
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -5/+65The Wii's already won as far as I'm concerned. Seems to me like Sony and Microsoft would need to make some drastic changes to their consoles in a hurry if they wanna keep up.
(Oddly enough I think the name "Wii" is growing on me) - merlinicorpus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+58Wow, its one thing to hear about a 6 hour line, but it's quite another thing to see it visually.
- znutz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+50Is that the line for Wii or the DMV?
- wmarcello, on 10/12/2007, -4/+48I think I saw Bill Gates in that line somewhere.
- roadies, on 10/12/2007, -6/+48damn, that is a long line. If they are lucky, they might get to play it before it is released.
- Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -3/+45well...this article here

says that you can walk into Sony or Microsoft's booth...and wait around for...FIVE minutes before jumping onto a demo unit...while folks are waiting for about 6 hours for the Wii
yowza - Johnny1337h4x0r, on 10/12/2007, -3/+44actualy I read that the line was over a 6 hour waiting time. Each gamer gets 5-15 minutes to play and since there are 27 playable games, I would think 27 players can play at a time.
- satch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+42i counted 2 girls in the entire line.
- Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -8/+45People who cut in line are gutterslime.
- Alphabet, on 10/12/2007, -5/+30i find it sad that you have to spam your website in every comment you post
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -14/+37bojoes, you're a ***** moron..
i'm not a gamer but since when do gamers not like girls? apparently being a gamer makes you homosexual? - Miyazaki, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24I think that line even puts Disney World during the summer to shame.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+25B-but wait, SONY said they were the best, why is no one wanting to get in line at their booth, obviously all these people must be int he wrong line
LOL, maybe sony will learn you can only steal ideas for so long, then people finally see you for what you are. - mntpng, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20It's interesing to read above comments about Apple store lines being comparable to Wii line. I always thought Nintendo is really what Apple is to the computer industry. It's really the innovations that get people excited and it shows. When I first saw the controller, I thought Nintendo was only one actually "got it" and was willing to take risks to deliver it to the masses.
Obviously Microsoft's XBOX 360 is extremely conservative and safe product offering with absolutely no innovation in gaming other than more pixels. Sony's PS3 is turning out to be a barely minimal response to XBOX 360 as well as thinly disguised trojan horse to establish BluRay as the next HD content delivery standard. Sony was so busy freaking out over XBOX 360 and distracted by alterior motives that it dropped the ball on the whole general gaming market by putting a big fat price tag. The PS3's price tag really is a toe tag in my opinion. It appears Nintendo Wii is the only console that's truely new and innovative gaming platform.
All the young kids that have grown up with Nintendo thought that they should "graduate" to PS2 and eventually PS3 have just been reminded by Nintendo of why we play the game in the first place. It's not to oogle at beautifully rendered cut scenes in PS3 or marvel at rich details of HD texture mapping on XBOX 360. It's to have fun. It's that simple. - MikeEnIke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16If that happened there wouldn't be anywhere to move lol. I have a feeling the line is a necessity.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14"Sorry, the waiting line is full"
"But!"
"It's ok, go wait in that line"
"What's it for"
"That's the waiting line for the waiting line" - DJgreenLava, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Nintendo should have put several DS download stations along the way.
- Sabin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15And then you get burried by the first 5 people that see your comment thereby wasting your time and making it so no one even gets to see anything constructive you may have said. In other words its the best way to make your opinion not count.
- precurser, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18i was in yesterday for the "media early access" portion, my gf and i managed to be the 11th and 12th people in. i must say, what i played was awesome! http://digg.com/gaming/E3_2006_Nintendo_Wii_Footage
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11"I'd rather just wait until it's released..."
If the line gets much longer the console WILL be released before they get their turn. - patm1987, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12The reps are standing in line to play the wii
- precurser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12the booth was packed to the brim, they had to allow small groups in at a time as they flushed them out. trust me, i was there, the line WAS necessary.
- lrm21, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Ok, I think its time to renam E3 to Wii3.
By the look of that video most of the convention was just waiting in line for the Wii. I want to see the video of the PS3 Booth with reps just standing around. - precurser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11to Daedalus81: i had a chance to play warioware, metroid prime 3, excite truck, and super mario galaxy. responsiveness? it was great. but being able to only play for so long limited the time that i would normally spend getting completely used to a new control. it was much like playing a fps on the computer with a keyboard and a mouse for the first time, it just kinda felt weird at first but once i kinda got used to it a bit it was really really cool.
warioware i didnt have a whole lot to go off of since it was like five 5 second games in a row where you had to do everything from trace a shapes outline to open a door with the wiimote.
metroid prime 3 was interesting, at first it felt weird like i stated above but i soon got used to it and was able to run around and strafe while shooting like it was nothing, a couple times i caught the system not picking up what i was trying to do or losing the signal but that is to be expected, these arent final systems.
excite truck was completely awesome and original. holding the wiimote like a steering wheel was interesting. i found myself playing the game as if i was using a dpad or analog stick, constantly flipping the remote to turn. i realized i was doing this and thought "what the hell am i doing?" at that point i began to make slight movements as if i were really driving a car and was blown away that going around a turn i could just simply angle the controller a tiny bit and keep it there to make the turn, instead of tapping on a dpad or analog stick. just like driving a real car.
super mario galaxy showed off the sensitivity of the wiimote the most to me since the position of it was constantly on the screen and left trails behind it. this will seriously be the best 3d platforming mario game. using the wiimote to interact with the environment and make mario do spin attacks (by moving the wiimote to the left and right in circular motions) is such a blast, fighting the huge octopus at the end of the level was cool because it was mainly doing spin attacks to deflect these balls back at him.
ive heard the bad rap about red steel but i cant judge it since i did not play it. ign gave some pretty harsh critique and i have faith that ubisoft will correct everything. i think nintendo will be getting a lot of constructive criticism about the system from people playing it at e3.
all in all, ive seen so much potential in the Wii that i would not care if they charged $599 for it. of course they wont, but i would pay that much to buy this system. it is worth it, and it has renued my faith in video games. i thought it was fun to break out donkey konga at parties, i can not wait to have a Wii running towards the end of the year for a 4 player match of tennis or warioware.
check out the video of me playing here: http://digg.com/gaming/E3_2006_Nintendo_Wii_Footage - petsounds, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10It's true. I was there today at about 10:30. By that point they had CLOSED THE LINE. Meaning, the line had gotten so long that E3 would end before any further people could play. At 10:30 in the morning. I hadn't seen a line that long since the premiere of Star Wars Ep. I at Mann's Chinese in Hollywood. I was actually pretty angry with Nintendo, as the Wiivolution was the single thing I really *had* to see. There's no reason they had to do it like that. I would have been happy just to see someone playing it in person. But I couldn't even do that because they had walled off the whole Wii area. That limits the amount of "evangelists" out there who can speak the gospel of Wii with firsthand knowledge. I imagine they did it to generate hype, as car manufacturers do with new models by artificially limiting production, but no such boost was needed.
Anyway, I can vouch firsthand for the impact of Wii's popularity on Sony and MS. Their booths weren't very crowded. The PS3 demo systems weren't any more crowded than the smattering of PS2 games they were showing. And anecdotally, there weren't many smiles being generated at the Sony and MS booths, except for the Guitar Hero 2 station. People honestly looked rather bored. I don't know if I would say Nintendo flat-out "won", but they certainly generated the most fervor.
But I still hate the name. - ModernTenshi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Man, good thing the DS has a battery life of between 6 to 10 hours. By they time you get to the head of the line, it will die, but you'll be ready to play some Wii.
- Zeny, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13ah man, thats me in the back with the laptop, sucks I didn't notice how long it is ...
- skabyss, on 10/12/2007, -13/+22"I wouldn't wait in a line that long to bang a pornstar, much less to play a video game."
Nor would I, for it would be pretty damn raw by the time I got there... - subway18223, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12You suck at life.
- synaesthesia, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Apparently the DS Lite also had an enormous line outside of Yodobashi Akiba (akihabara's largest electronics retail outlet). Definately a far cry from the line for the xbox360 at the same location (seven people).
- jguy584, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8because their dev-kit consoles are crashing
- precurser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9great comment man. i wholeheartedly agree with you as well.
playing the Wii yesterday felt different, i found myself smiling uncontrollably, much like i did back in the day when i laid my hands on Super Mario Bros. if you havent got a chance to play it yet, man you are in for a treat! - sl4x0r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10CLEARLY you've never been to Disneyland
- flap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I would for sure start a game of telephone.
- knightblade2oo4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Energizer.... it just keeps going, and going, and going..."
Do these people even know where the damn line leads?
I'd rather just wait until it's released... - Darth_tater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8no, there are a lot of xbox fans and ps3 fans...
just the digg community sees that the 360/ps3 are not innovation and nintendo reminds us why we all play games. to have fun. and nintendo truly delevers on that (this video is proof) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11im sure just about everybody has said this, but the wii is the only true next-gen system, and this coming from a huge 360 fanboy. before xbox and 360 i was a huge nintendo fan... gamecube lost my faith, but with ds lite, wii and the bunch of new/retro mario titles coming i think nintendo is grabbing everybody back into their realm, and very easily. these lines prove everything as well as the massive hype and talk from just about EVERYONE
- precurser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7if i hadnt got in the day before early, i would have waited. trust me bro, i am sure every last person who got in there to play realized that waiting that long was actually worth it.
the Wii is for sure going to change video games forever. - BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/11/the-longest-hardest-wait-at-e3/
- sock2828, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10that is the damnd bigest line i have seen in a loooong time
- bab7880, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Anyone have a headcount yet?
- jguy584, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I think after seeing what Wii is all about, there are ALOT more nintendo fans. I know i didnt think Wii was gonna beat out PS3 or even 360, but i sure as hell now do.
- beervolcano, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12Well, I'm a girl, and a cute one at that.. and I'll be camping out to make sure I get a Wii.. and a copy of the new Zelda..
- markormesher, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7You kidding? Great advertisement, the first thing we do on digg is go, what the hell did this person say to piss this many people off? So, we unbury the comment, people read, surely enough, some go to the site!
On topic, that line is freeking incredible! I would have brought in a bunch of six packs and started selling beer! - rm999, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10"MUST SEE VIDEO."
I really didn't have to see that. Pretty funny though. I'd rather just save 5 hours and play my own system when it comes out. -
