- DreKor, on 10/10/2007, -5/+522How is this news? I'm not allowed to play BioShock at work either.
- dunlop, on 10/10/2007, -5/+125lol, looks like a fun place to work, I love that they acknowledge that Bioshock is a freaking masterpiece. And they get a free cooy when they are done with Orange Box, so win win : )
- ArmchairAthlete, on 10/10/2007, -2/+104Good, get me my Team Fortress 2 ASAP.
- supaklaw, on 10/10/2007, -6/+82Yeah from the 99.9% of us that aren't allowed to play games at work... welcome to our world. STFU and get back to work.
- jonnyeh, on 10/10/2007, -4/+70Can they still play minesweeper?
- Neiby, on 10/10/2007, -2/+60Holy cow. That's pretty amazing. Their reward for finishing their game is that they get a copy of a competitor's game for free?
- NeoCortex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+53If only the Duke Nukem Forever team had some sort of motivation by this.
- Legato, on 10/10/2007, -5/+52having walked the halls of valve i can tell you there really is no place better to be
- Asianwaste, on 10/10/2007, -3/+42They were better off playing Tekken all day.
- Pilot85, on 10/10/2007, -0/+38not really. It's all about good games, my friends.
- toekneebullard, on 10/10/2007, -0/+31No matter who loses that battle, us Gamers win.
- brasso, on 10/10/2007, -1/+29So that’s why Valve is always late with their releases...
- knodi, on 10/10/2007, -6/+34Ya it only is taking them 2 years to finished up a 4 hour episode 2.
- MosaicM, on 10/10/2007, -0/+28So, hopefully now they will work harder to get this out and NOT delay it another time right? ..........right?
Get to work you shlubs! I want my portal! *cracks whip* - DreKor, on 10/10/2007, -1/+27I don' t think they're a competitor, at least not a nasty one, since BioShock was released on Steam.
- psg188, on 10/10/2007, -3/+24Orange Box has a lot to compete with this year with Bioshock out, but if anyone can do it, Valve can.
And I really think they will. I can't wait. - Asianwaste, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17and Left 4 Ded
- miztaken, on 10/10/2007, -6/+21Ironic ain't it?
- meamog, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14Do you work for a video-game developer? Something tells me they play games at work, not only their own, so they know the competition inside and out. I think it's good of them to acknowledge Bioshock as a game that will most likely kill their productivity - humble, even.
- DreKor, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Which, if you follow the story lines of the two games, is the point.
- Pake, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Profit > Competition. They don't honestly care if someone is competing with them, as long as they'll get paid for selling the product over Steam.
- h4mx0r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12This was like Romero and Daikatana. They banned people from using the Tekken arcade machine until Daikatana shipped.
- mortigon, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13How do you know?
- seventoes, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11No, your surfing digg at work right now.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14I almost missed my own homework deadlines due to Bioshock.
- rs99, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9It didn't happen to be called Half-Life 2 Episode 1....did it?
- Ramble, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Have you seen his size? I think he'd eat the pies himself.
- kjcdude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I can play bioshock at work.
- fuzzmeister, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9City 17 isn't supposed to be as fanciful as Bioshock's city, it is supposed to look like a run-down Eastern European city (admittedly one with a giant, building-eating alien skyscraper in it).
- pronouncable, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Read the article, they're dying to play it.
Besides, Valve likes to makes friends, look at their 'competitors' games appearing on Steam all of a sudden. - Protoss, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Thats the problem, I'm sure they were alt-tabbing between Bioshock and developing HL2:Ep2, probably explains why it takes them so damn long to make a game...
- jedikv, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9More like my workstation does not allow me to play bioshock.
Crappy intergrated graphics.... - Myonosken, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7No because they can't ban that.
- TheGrizah, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11Haha, It would be interesting if they had a TV with a WIi set up in a break room somewheres...I can see it now...2v2 Mario Strikers...Gabe Newel handing out black eyes, and apple pies.
- fuzzmeister, on 10/10/2007, -2/+84 hour? I'm pretty sure it will be longer than that, they said it would be longer than Episode 1.
- xxeyes, on 10/10/2007, -19/+25At least they can presumably still play Metroid Prime 3 Corruption.
- shinynew, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6and left 4 dead.
- psg188, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9Did you not think it was worth the wait? Half Life 2 is one of the best games of all time, I think it was worth the wait.
- BryanJK, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5note the title
*...bans from office" - briandeloach, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Not quite that long. Also, it will be atleast 8+ hours of gameplay (for real this time) according to sources.
- HanSolo69, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Man, they're going to have to wait 3 years to play it? and not only that but be tortured by promises that it will only be another 3 months only to have that extended to 1 year? Sucks for them.
- BuckyDent, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5ALMOST!! you obviously need to play more!
- fuzzmeister, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I think the spacing in the releases should be enough for them not to affect each other greatly.
- bjs3171, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5wtf?
- AdmiralKarelia, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4My idea is that, along with the whole issue of Bioshock being a distraction, they don't want any of Bioshock's ideas seeping into Half-Life, therefore bringing shame to Valve.
- Myonosken, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Half Life 2 is going to sell whatever though. Even if Episode 2 isn't that great it'll sell on name alone.
- onlynameicanget, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5No, but Alyx might refer to you as Mr. Bubbles once in a while...
- Charlesbian, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5can you say marketing gimmickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
bioshock is on steam now, so how to hype up a game being sold on their own service? Say its so good, that everyone in the office wants to play it to the point of lowered productivity. Maybe im just being cynical, but it sounds right to me. - Legato, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4they have team fortress 2 :P
