- Junkyarddawg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+83AFAIK Germany closed the tax-writeoff loophole Uwe Boll used to use to get funding for his movies. It used to work so that if the movie made a loss, investments became tax deductable - and since Uwe Boll is the ***** film producer alive, like an Ed Wood but without the charm, investers could reliably expect to deduct their investments. Basically the same ploy as in "The Producers".
But if Germany really did close that loophole, that must mean that some poor schmuck has actually paid Uwe Boll to make a movie in the expectation that it'll _turn a profit_. Scary thought.
Mandatory reading for those of you who have not yet realized the full splendor of Uwe Boll:

Oh, and that's on Somethingawful, but the article is real. - 1337Einstein, on 10/12/2007, -2/+71Yes..Yes... going to see this movie would likely induce a sensation similar to being in hell.
- bcasper1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+68those sound effects were terrible, I think I've heard that same airplane sound in Loony Tunes.
- floridiot2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+63Don't worry people. In this version, snakes are flying the plane.
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31I didn't realize that modern jetliners sounded like WW2 propellered divebombers.
- Seruphim, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31Well its official, he can't make movies worth a damn, so now he has to go for the shock factor for people to see it, maybe if absolutely no one in the world sees this movie he'll just stop making them!
- dasluvaluva, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25Actually, the WTCenters didn't have "window washers" and had specially designed mechanical devices to do it for them.
- themastersb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25I'm am so badly going to download this when it comes out.
- boyasunder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22Goddamnit, Dave Foley. Why the ***** are you in this film? Must you completely ***** on the awesomeness that was the Kids in the Hall? Must you?
- joeware, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21@Junkyarddawg
Uwe Boll's scheme is nothing like that in The Producers. In The Producers, they basically acquired more capital than needed, by collecting capital from each investor who thought they were solely financing the movie. It had nothing to do with the investors expecting the production to fail to collect tax deductions. - SultanTravi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22Yeah, but I won't blame them. I don't have a problem with Osama saying "Uwe Boll is an infidel, but he made a funny movie."
That's funny.
I do have a problem with abusing ***** like this in order to sell a movie. Especially since it's the only way Uwe can hype his *****, since he's such a piss-poor director. - Sixcolors, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18"Why is this in the "Gaming News" section?"
Because Postal the movie is based on a video game from a studio called Running with Scissors. - Dayyve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17You don't understand! Uwe Boll is sooooooo awful is why he is famous. People couldn't make worse movies if they filmed themselves taking a dump. The simple fact that he is still here and making movies after years of awful crap has only proven the fact that he is, in fact, immortal and working for the devil.
- Junkyarddawg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16That is highly unlikely.
As long as people keep paying him to write, direct, and produce crap, he'll write, direct, and produce crap.
That's what he do. That's what he is. - tmbrwolf19, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19Countdown till FOXNews gets a-hold of this and the ***** storm starts... 3... 2.. 1..
- kcpwnsgman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15watch any of his movies, then you will see the problem
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Has anyone else noticed that YouTube commenters are idiots?
- ParanoiaAgent, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13What could he lose? Credibility? Respect? He might as well do it.
- robdazomba, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14> I will probably hurt myself laughing
Hopefully. - Dayyve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Yes, but only because Uwe Boll should only be laughed at, not with.
- Strangers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I have a problem with what Bin Laden said.
1) It's not true
2) Boll made him say it - robdazomba, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Hmm... who is Uwe Boll? Never heard of him. Search on IMDB. List of ***** movies I wouldn't force my dog to see. No wonder I have no idea who he is. No wonder he needs to play the piss-us-off card and pander to the lowest common denominator to get noticed.
Move along. Better ways to spend my time than playing this guy's game. - dmurray14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9And you're all giving him what he wants by advertising this...good work
- mtrip, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9And don't forget Newsradio. How the mighty have fallen.
- kevptim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Borat is good.
*High-Five!* - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -11/+19Why is this in the "Gaming News" section?
- Poco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I had never heard of this movie before, but everything I have read through the links just makes me want to see it. I feel dirty.
- howdareyou, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14So what if you uploaded the video to youtube? You didn't create the video, you just put it on your blog. It's blogspam. Everything you submit is from your crappy blog, just stop.
- daschupa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7nm Boll, what the heck happened to Dave Foley's career. What won't he do to supply his daily snort? I mean, robbing a liquor store;prostitution; murder; there are so many better options Dave!
- Wailord, on 10/12/2007, -8/+14Good Lord, his movies are bad enough without this crap.
- MeltedUFO, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Uwe?
- gcauthon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@Junkyarddawg
Maybe you didn't pay close enough attention to the director commentary on the Alone in the Dark DVD. He has a scheme going in Germany where even if he does not sell a single DVD or movie ticket, he personally still makes money. He choses video games simply because there's already a plot and he does not have to do hardly any work. Even if not a single person sees his next movie then he's still successful, get it? He's a scammer. - kcpwnsgman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5he is so awful, he got a celebrity to be filmed taking a dump on the camera
(no really, they got Dave Foley to ***** on a camera)
its going to be a movie so bad that you want to see it for the novelty of it, just like snakes on a plane, after all, thats what sold that movie - SlvrEagle23, on 10/12/2007, -10/+15Wow, never mind submitting this to Fox News, it seems every comment on this article so far that expresses absolutely any intent at all to see this out of curiosity has been buried into oblivion.
Even if this scene was made by an irreputable filmmaker for pure shock value, it's a visualization of a perspective nobody here saw on 9/11 itself. Sure, it brings back a few painful emotions, but just imagining these things from a different view brings the whole chain of events down to an understandable level and away from this abstract concept where we remember more of the emotions than what actually happened. The same applies to the movies United 93 and World Trade Center, and I saw both only to have someone else show me a fully visualized version of what I had only imagined in my head until then. Sure, much of those movies (and this clip) were products of someone else's imagination, but seeing that in full vivid color helped to spark my own.
I consider that search for a greater degree of understanding of such important events to be a part of human nature...so it baffles me when people say, "Oh that's terrible! How can you say that?" when the curiosity isn't malevolent at all, but instead is a feeble attempt at empathy, something that could do nothing more than strengthen our emotional response to 9/11 as a country.
Seeing a clip like this doesn't desensitize me from the idea of 9/11; much to the contrary, it ignites a fierce desire to try to see events like that from different and as-of-yet-unseen viewpoints. We should all be so passionate in our search for knowledge, for it makes us a stronger people if we are. So, long story short...don't bury people who want to see more of this, because all we really want to do is imagine it more clearly. - bitteroldmann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Most of these comments are negative... so why are you people digging this and giving it more attention than it deserves?
- teethman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5One of the things some people cant grasp the concept of, is the fact that offensive things have the potential to be funny, but things are never funny just for the sake of being offensive. When you have a joke that crosses the line but is funny, it enhances the humor. But if something lacks substance, is not clever or humorous, you just are a dickwad.
- loganhid, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9This is quite clever of him. Create negative publicity = more awarness of the movie
But i totally think its wrong. - TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8AOW GAUD!!! LOL
Seriously, ***** happens all of the time. There were far worse instances than the WTC collapse, yet people continue to use it as a point of bitching and moaning when people bring it up. - jackhole, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6You have a fine eye for cinematic quality.
- macbookpromat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@burke
No *****, they're the type who believe those ***** chain mail messages. God I want to kill people that stupid. - desistyle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Uwe Boll is ridiculous, what a sorry person. He makes horrible films and then uses 9/11 to advertise his latest? I'm sure it'll be a piece of sh*t movie like alone in the dark, house of the dead, and bloodrayne.
- exaltedfox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You will feel down right filthy if you see any of his movies. But I admit, my curiosity is begging me to wallow in the *****-hole one more time.
- Conwaysb0718, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4At first I was in the line of thinking "This chump is using cheap ploys to get the public to see his movie, thats amoral and wrong. grrrr." and then I thought "ya know, this is America, and if crap like this doesnt work, it folds in on itself and fails anyway." Is this guy a douche for trying to get notariety for a film by using negative publicity? Sure is. Should he be allowed to do it? Sure should. Should the media admonish him for doing so? Hell no. all they would be doing is playing right into his trap. He is a crap director who unfortunately loves destroying the video game and fantasy fiction I love by making it into ***** movies. My only hope is that eventually he will just fade away. And should he read my 2cents here and want to challenge me to a boxing match, I would gladly accept.
As for Dave Foley.... well, I really liked Kids in the Hall. But that was then, this is now... - ErinIsADrunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3think of the bright side, now some theaters won't carry this sad excuse for a movie.
- IpodCrazy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I could never be a window cleaner, just too high up there for me.
- Konrad9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"No such thing as bad press"
- JayBorn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3*****, I was there when it happened theres nothing funny about it....
- MeltedUFO, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There wasn't really a joke in it.
I'm sure if it was funny, I'd laugh. - Daedalus275, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You know what I think? I think we should kill Uwe, destroy this film, and get someone with talent to make it.
- malonesm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Absolutely tasteless and despicable.
