"THANKS A LOT FOR THAT, GUYS" - opnickc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35". . . but its a big pain in the ass pointing with that damn remote."
Nope, actually it works great.
"That and at the end he states that you have to change the resolution to play any VC games and doesn't sound too happy."
It's not the resolution, it's the aspect ratio. This could be a TV issue - if the TV automatically stretches a 4:3 signal, then you will have to change the setting when you play a VC game. Of course, Nintendo could've automatically added black bars, so the TV could stay with the 16:9 signal. But I'm sure some people would've complained about that too. - Kahnza, on 10/12/2007, -2/+29If you can't wait 10 seconds you have a problem with patience.
- LesterKing, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Yeah, he sounds like a bitch.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Because it takes forever to transfer a few kb across broadband, you know.
- OpCzar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14He should have recorded that in the dark.
- jacobmp92, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11@se1zure: "I mean, if i own the game I can download the rom legally"
Wrong. It is illegal, whether you own the original game or not, to download a ROM (other than on VC). It is considered a "backup" or "archival" copy, and is still illegal. Read it in the back of any Nintendo game instruction booklet.
Plus, it's a lot better to play the game on a TV rather than a monitor IMO. - BenSerwa, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I love it. It's such cute 'shop' music. It feels like something from Animal Crossing.
- darkpulsaromega, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Checked on Wikipedia:
$20.00 = 2000 points
NES = 500 points ($5)
SNES = 800 points ($8)
N64 = 1000 points ($10)
Sega Genesis = 800 points ($8)
TurboGrafx-16 = 600 points ($6) - kevspace, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Heh, memory can be an interesting thing. The original F-Zero did not have any sort of multiplayer option. Trust me on this one. Not only do I still have my cart and play it every year or so, but back when the game came out and it was brand new, I got it for my birthday. At my birthday party, I set up a "tournament" that was little more than everybody taking turns trying to get the best time on Mute City 1. If you and your wife were taking turns, you were probably doing Time Trials.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Are games on XBOX Live and Playstation free? Just wondering.
- dirtyharry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9No kidding. He must of forgotten the Wii isn't targeted at people with pretty HDTV's. I would have to guess the majority of SDTV's in homes use 4:3 versus 16:9. Yes, I agree it should compensate, but let's not be too bitter. I'm sure they'll look into fixing that in a later update.
- fatalfury, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11DIgg me down
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I think Nintendo would be better off adding an option to turn on auto 4:3 scaling or not. If it's a question of whether people would want it or not, you can never go wrong giving them a choice.
- mtvkilledusall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7No one "expected" you to buy a DSLite if you already owned a DS.
Come to think of it, no one "expected" you to buy anything. - chaimpot0k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The music is awesome.
- LMN8R, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It's a few seconds here and there, big deal. It's going slow right now because almost a million people are suddenly connecting to their network when none were 12 hours ago. It'll pick up with time.
- manningbc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"notice how i don't have a girlfriend. pff. thanks a lot for that god."
- MonstersAGoGo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6It should be easy.. The Original Zelda should be like what 16 Kb?
- aboyd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@jacobmp92
Downloading a ROM image may be illegal, but the concept of space-shifting your games is not. So if a person wanted to rip a ROM to a CD for backup, so long as they did it themselves, and did it from the original copy they have, it's legal. Of course, most people wouldn't bother -- they'd download it and then just SAY that they ripped it off their copy (if anyone were to ever ask). The download and the rip would be digitally exactly the same, so one would be hard-pressed to tell the difference.
Nintendo can say anything they want about that -- "if you backup your ROM, you go to jail" or "you go to Hell" or "you die." Doesn't matter -- they can SAY anything, but they are not lawmakers, and cannot overrule the government. The government says space-shifting is legal. - Avogadro65, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You can suspend your current point (for going to the other channels and such), but once you come back to the game it clears that suspend point. Basically you can indefinitely pause it, but you can only reload from the same point once.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yeah, you are thinking of the wrong F Zero. The original F Zero on snes had no multiplayer. They wouldn't arbitrarily strip that out for no reason.
- ForlornHope, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Thanks! I figure it'll be fixed in a firmware.
Kahnza-- I was mostly just curious. The Wii is something I'll definitely want eventually, but it's looking less and less like something I want enough to go out and get right away. I can wait for the one that will have DVD playback (yes, I already have a DVD player, but I don't want to have to change my cables when switching between game and DVD), and for the virtual console to have more games and be more streamlined. So far, the only Wii game I would want is Zelda, and the virtual console is still building it's back-catalog.
Looks like my playstation 2 will be my only console/entertainment center for a while longer. I wish the damn thing would break, so I could justify replacing it... - positron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I love Bossanova as much as the next reasonably cultured person, but... Man! That could get really annoying, really quickly. I hope the BGM is set via user preference and not simply streamed as part of the network experience.
- friend18, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I liked the music. I was just about to post how the music was a nice touch and makes it feel like your in an actual store.
- Kahnza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I for one can't wait to play some of the old classics. :D
- Boor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The whole atmosphere of the menu's reminded me of Mario Paint, the hands are similar too.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What about first gen PS2, XBOX, Game Boys, PSPs?
Yeah. - StarManta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Well, downloading a 32MB N64 game might get annoying if your connection isn't especially fast.
- aboyd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's so great guys, thanks for cluing me in. So what F-Zero did I play that had multiplayer? Or was it indeed time trials, taking turns?
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3If you have trouble pointing the remote, you must have limited motor functionality, which means you shouldn't be able to type very well.. so maybe it's just a user error.
- d00d, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Sure, it's an easy process until you get to the final stage of either buying Wii points or buying the game with those points. While the acceptance button is on the right during nearly the entire process, it's on the left on the final screen. The Cancel button is on the right, so if you're not paying VERY CAREFUL ATTENTION, your muscle memory takes over and you cancel the order over and over again.
Ok, call me an idiot for making the mistake 3 times in a row (swearing to keep more conscious each time), but it's a gigantic usability problem. The good news is that I now have my new credit card's number memorized. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I own original nintendo cartridges, but for some games, I'd rather play them on the computer...especially for Zelda II. It gets pretty hard near the end for those that made it through that thing...but then you have to start all over from the beginning of the HUGE over world map if you die....i hate that crap. Zelda II would have been the best game on NES period IMO if you could restart at the beginning of a dungeon at least. anyone know if the VC lets you save states????
- h4lofourt33n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That music is awesome.
- MikeMania, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2...You don't.
- XdigitalXdeathX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Eh.. buy the gamecube Zelda compliation disc :)
- Herffinator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2looks like the owner also has a 360 (note: the vision camera in the bottom corner). The Wii/360 combo seems to be the choice for plenty of gamers. Can't wait to play some old-school tetris and mario!!
- pbjorge12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah...Costs a whopping 5 bucks...

It's a real life comic-book-guy "Worst. Episode. Ever." kind of moment.
AA - DelMonte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Looks like a pretty easy process!"
Yeah, certainly easier for these guys than turning off the auto-focus and auto-brighness feature on a video-camera! - NikoKun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1for now, I have the NES Zelda on a GC disc... so i dont need this... but I did buy Sonic the Hedgehog! ^_^
- steveoco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah all I took away from the vid is how much a of a douche the dude who filmed it was. That and mario coins sound wicked.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That disc is pricey on ebay if I recall
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Most likely time trials. Thats what we do at the office with GT4 instead of play split screen, we just race with time trials.
- LiquidTim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sonic the Hedgehog is the only game worth buying if you don't already have it.
- GirSaysDoom13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Got a wii from future shop earlier today, and i'm basically used to pointing with the wiimote. It is a good comparison to say that it's like a mouse, just in 3D space. I downloaded sonic for genesis earlier tonight too, and it looks and plays great (even using the wiimote).
anyone know when Zelda: OoT is coming out on VC? - NikoKun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yah... wow, i've never had any problems... and its amazing how little my hand shakes... I havent notived any shaky movements with the on screen cursor.
Just make sure you have the sensitivity right, to keep interference down. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It should automatically do it
COME ON ITS THE FREAKING FUTURE - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That Wii mote looks like a bitch to get it exactly where you want it.
I wouldn't like to try and get a headshot on a game like halo with it - grrifiedducky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1anyone know how much the VC games cost on average? I can not find any numbers on it. Like how much are they charging for the original zelda for instance
