"Plugs directly into the GameCube ports"
it says nothing about usb - Alphateam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26"Shipping Jan 2007: Add a NES port to your Wii!""
- alcimedes, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14It's an NES or SNES to GC controller pinout.
There are four GC controller inputs on every Wii. - undershirt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1219 gold coins, not bucks.
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12"Or I can just go to my storage room and dig out my NES and not worry about paying for the Virtual Console"
Except that you can no longer buy games for it and it most likely doesn't work anymore - Alphateam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10If you search the rest of their site you will see that they just reused those pictures from other products.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11What you realy need is an N64 controller, because of the unique button layout.
- somunny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9retrousb has been around for quite a while. They make usb controller conversion kits and finished units mainly for PC based emulation.
- whoisKeel, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11But you need the NES/SNES controller for a decent D-pad.
- arkonrubik, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11It says GC port, but look at the picture...kinda confusing!!
- scratched, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8The N64 has a pretty decent D-pad
I'd like to see the N64 controller adapted to fit in the gamecube ports. It obviously would work well for N64 games and the button layout is also almost perfect for the NES & SNES (besides the lack of the select button, which could be assigned to a few different unused buttons...) - zephc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Hi, my friend Brian runs Retrozone, and I can guarantee they work. I played Soul Caliber 2 on a GameCube with a pre-production NES->Will/GC controller a few weeks ago - pretty hard to do :-) The actual retail controllers are in production now.
- tidu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Why do people keep saying the Wii is just another gamecube? Have these people seen the controller? The Wii is farther from the gamecube than the PS3 and 360 are (to their predecessors) combined!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6My guess is they would have to have some sort of software bundled... personally, I'm hoping for USB-based storage much more than usb-based controllers
- Namtaru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Or, you bought a gamecube to play gamecube games. And rather than digging up old hardware and trying to find cartridges, you simply spend a few bucks and buy an adapter for the controllers.
- skywake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7personally, I don't see the point of getting a NES pad for the Wii
doesn't the Wii-mote have the same button layout as the NES anyway?
SNES I can understand (and I would probably get)
but the fact that you can get a VC controller that works for all VC games
.......
yeah..... - csfreakazoid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Yep, since old electronics last forever. Personally, im looking forward to this because my SNES is starting to have some problems because of a flakey power connector. If i could just play it on a Wii, along with my favorite NES and gamecube games, then I would be very intrested in buying the Wii. Its good for nintendo to allow this and id be willing to bet you see a software / firmware update released for the Wii shortly with support for usb controllers.
p.s. I will be buying a Wii as soon as my finances allow. - jaz677, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The n64 controller, in my opinion, is the greatest controller of all time!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Dudeee.....Powerglove with "Full access to all 3 axis, rotation, fingers, and buttons" Imagine the possibilities.

Yeah, good luck with that, gxcdesign. - zephc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Very nicely - as well as they would on their respective native platforms. FWIW, I have one of the SuperAdvantage->USB controllers (awesome, so solid). Turbo works too, of course.
- sheitmar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Chrono404 -
I'm going refrain from having to type "You're an idiot" twice (due to your other post higher up), since you obviously didn't take a look at the site all that carefully. USB & (wait for it) gamecube adaptors!! BOTH! - whoisKeel, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I'm guessing it hooks up through the GameCube jack?
- NTolerance, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That's probably the best way to do it. * -> GCN controller adapters already exist, so some people know how to make a controller talk to the Gamecube. Since GCN controllers are supported for the Virtual Console, this shouldn't be hard to do.
- weedian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Pretty cool depending on how well they work. :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6LOL @ 7of7.
I love how big of a M$ fanboy you are, just looking at your profile.
"Why you should'nt Get a Mac", "Vista Beta 2: "Biggest Software Download Event In History"" - CherryTzors, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It probably didn't work because the Wii doesn't have the correct drivers to run it. If someone could make a website where you could download drivers designed for the Wii, that would be teh awesomes.
- carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2independent game shops sell nes games, you can order a new connector for your nes for like 7 bucks, and there are many games for nes that you'll probably never see on VC. that said, VC is a very refreshing, and i can't wait til they put mario world and mario 3 on it. tetris for nes would also kick ass.
- DrakeTheRedEye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They might be working on a N64 version. I think I'm going to get one.

__--- If anyone tries it out, please post a review. TKS --- - zephc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@tenlow:
from the page (I told him about the digg article and all the doubting thomases, and he updated the page a bit)
"Authenticity of original controllers with the simplicity of Wii
Plugs directly into the GameCube ports
No drivers to install or update
Use with any Virtual Console or GameCube game" - smarch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I hope somebody makes these wireless.
- Sinizar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!
They will rip you off! Zero technical support! I ordered a bunch of different items from this company to use some old retro controllers with my PC. They do not work, the chips are faulty, and the company does not RMA, give refunds, or even email you!
This company is the worst company I have ever ordered from on the Internet! - BevansDesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Don't they make a "classic"-style Wii controller already? I'd be satisfied with that, and even just the sideways-wiimote for NES games.
But if you're going for the classic feel (CTS-inducing NES pad and everything), this is pretty cool. - zephc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The USB ones plug into computers for people who use emulators. The Wii ones use the GameCube ports on the Wii.
- Rooker156, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2they cost 19. for 20 you can get the newer one that Nintendo put out themselves. but, i think it is an awesome idea.
- unitedkronos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was hoping Nintendo would do this officially, but since it's looking more likely they won't get around to it I guess I'll just have to do with a third party product, but $19 for such a basic convertor? That's just taking the wii... erm, piss.
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The site is actually 'RetroZone', but retrozone.com is owned by an HVAC company, and since at the time he was only selling USB-based controllers, retrousb.com seemed the next best choice.
- Antialias, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5I tried plugging in a usb joystiq with my Wii just to see if it worked and got nothing. (Logitech dualshock style gamepad), so at least currently, the Wii doesn't support USB controllers.
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Exactly, just buy one of the adapters for the PC and use it to play every game, not just the ones available on Virtual Console (Damn you, where's sonic 3!?)
- carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i was so hoping that since it supports video, music, game saves over sd card, and has usb ports, that it would allow for usb mass storage like thumbdrives and usb hard drives. ohh well, here's to hoping for a magic update.
- latca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice but it would be better if it plugged into the wiimote like the classic controller.
- foobarfoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM!
They will accept your payment.
They will deliver.. nothing. (I've waited over a month)
They will not reply to your emails (I've waited over 10 days, and I've sent from several email addresses)
I've pressed my paypal panic button now. (They haven't replied to that either, by the way).
Don't let them scam you, too. - foobarfoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0... actually, the items finally appeared, delayed several weeks, and I also finally got a response from the customer service.
- chrono404, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Shipping Jan 2007: Add a NES port to your Wii!""
Last time i Checked a Wii isn't a Computer.
This will plug into the USB Ports on the Back of the Wii. - DrakeTheRedEye, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This says they will ignore you, in more words.
"If you do not receive a response within a week, either your email or the reply has been eaten by spam/virus filters somewhere along the line. Our spam and virus filters are in effect and addresses will be permanently blacklisted. Emails from spam laden domains like hotmail.com and yahoo.com are unlikely to make it." -FAQ- - PhoenixAvatar2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Still, there's things like the Optimus Keyboard to consider. It sounded amazing but the latest news is that it won't even be in color. Not to mention the Killzone 2 trailer which was billed as "in game". Until I see something like that actually working (via real life or youtube), I'd be very skeptical and I wouldn't put money down on it.
- ggko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Not a problem for this kid.
http://digg.com/videos_comedy/Hillarious_Super_Mario_Bros_prank_at_local_stores - giveer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Am I the only one that thinks that page looks as shady as hell?
- Numfar28, on 10/12/2007, -15/+15Interesting...so if these are USB-based, the Wii actually accepts controllers through its USB ports? Hmm. Would have made more sense to me to let the adapter plug into the GC ports.
- galador, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@Agret
I still have an NES, and it works quite well, actually. In fact, I pulled it out last weekend for some good 'ol nostalgia.
However, you do have a valid point about being able to get games for it... -
