8 GB of Free Hard Drive Space - Cerberus047, on 10/13/2007, -1/+59I for one was shocked... when i saw the specs but then again look at the specs for ut 2004.... the UT series in my oppinion has been great with beinng able to work on a wide range of systems
- AwesomeMonster, on 10/13/2007, -3/+53*****, even my old rig i bought for HL2 can run this!
- saggygrandma, on 10/14/2007, -7/+47Cue fifty thousand comments using topic to brag about their rigs...
- erkokite, on 10/13/2007, -1/+41"NVIDIA 7800GTX+ or ATI x1300+ Video Card "
Is there not a huge discrepancy between these cards? - phaseblue, on 10/13/2007, -0/+35Easier to run than Bioshock, which is good news. UT games have scaled down pretty gracefully in the past, hopefully this is no different.
- screwzluse, on 10/13/2007, -1/+35Because it's not necessary.
- inactive, on 10/13/2007, -2/+33so tell me more about the ***** PC you bought last year.
- Roger, on 10/13/2007, -2/+30You got ripped off.
The computer I bought 5 years more than meets the minimum specs. - tidu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+28The Unreal games have always been really kind to older PC's without having to sacrifice too many video settings.
- h4mx0r, on 10/13/2007, -1/+25Clearly Epic games wants me to make love with them. Hoo ***** YEAH!
Unreal engine- the one engine I can trust to be optimized on every computer. - Darkhowling91, on 10/10/2007, -4/+25For once every spec on my computer is above the recommended levels. Short lived though, only thing console has over PC - every game will work fine.
- Splitt3rxx, on 10/13/2007, -1/+21I was shocked, i thought my 6600gt would have no chance of even running this.
- ahnonamis, on 10/10/2007, -3/+23Same thoughts I had. These specs were good for a moderate rig in 2004. Now, even a lot of "low end" gaming machines will be able to run this. Great optimization.
- suprxtragrav, on 12/09/2008, -4/+22zomg i didnt think i could run it but i totally can!
core 2 super extreme ultra OX9999 (OctoCore)
16GB DDR4 RAM
400TB HD
5x 8800ULTRA
100" Monitor - blatzkowitz, on 10/13/2007, -0/+17Can't wait to see it in HOLY *****! settings.
- Hindu_Wardrobe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Damn, I meet all the requirements except the graphics card. :( It's time for a new one!
- EmperorAwesome, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16They know what game they're making. An outstanding framerate is priority one.
- h4mx0r, on 10/15/2007, -1/+16... it IS dx10. What are you smoking?
Oh, I get it. Because they don't recommend a dx10 card? Guess what foo? Ya don't need dx10 to experience Unreal Tournament 3 (or any Unreal3 game) in great glory. Dx10 is just a nifty bonus.
Plus, if you've been paying attention, other Unreal3 Engine games have dx10 support. How could the flagship game not? - BritishGolgo13, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Searching on Digg is like searching for Waldo with your eyes closed.
- inactive, on 10/13/2007, -0/+12Next time you have the urge to say ANYTHING for us... please dont... thanks!
- MeruFM, on 10/14/2007, -2/+12wtf only 16GB DDR4?
Most of us are already in the 1TB DDR6 era. Get with the times. - h0m3styl3, on 10/14/2007, -1/+11ugh...
I'm sorry, but I have to call shenanigans on you.
This post is utter *****. - Lilbrittle, on 10/13/2007, -2/+12FYI The game is not pushed back until 2008 morons check previous digg submissions, they say their is a possability that it will be that does not mean it is.
Check your sources before posting stupid crap, dugg down for inaccurate. - defubar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9As long as they release a map creator/editor as they always have for previous UTs, PC will have plenty of maps.
- mooninite, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9They are releasing the Linux client on the DVD. That was on digg not too long ago. Search. :P
- MrSteamTank, on 10/13/2007, -1/+9I've played games before where I had the "recommended requirements" and the game would run at 20fps at 800 by 600 lowest settings. So I would honestly take these requirements with a grain of salt. I'm waiting until the game comes out before I even think of upgrading or not.
- Tejiant, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I thought UT3 was based off Open GL not Direct X, so DX10 wouldn't matter?
- xerigen, on 10/13/2007, -1/+9Oh man! My desktop computer is almost 6 years old and it can run it! Might have to upgrade the graphics card, though..
- LocalDocal, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I'm, frankly, amazed that in this day and age where developers don't give half a damn whether you can keep up with specs or not, that UT still has minimum specs that are under my PC (which is about four years old).
I do find it kind of strange, however, that the specs shoot up to a 2.4GHZ dual core and 7800GTX from a 2.0GHZ single core and Nvidia 6200. If that is really the case, then I don't think I ever seen another game where the difference between the minimum specs and the recommended specs was that huge. - inactive, on 10/13/2007, -3/+10All hail the lord god of first person shooters Unreal Tournament 3, for he has found the PC gamer worthy of his glory and presence, and had deemed the console lover as minuscule and stupid. (harharharharharharharhahrahrahr...spam!)
- inactive, on 10/13/2007, -0/+7With all the Halo threads on digg, you have to discuss this here?
- iofthestorm, on 10/14/2007, -0/+7Cue thousands of comments proclaiming that consoles are better than PCs because you never have to worry about system requirements (and never have the option to get better graphics).
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Yeah, if only there was some kind of digital delivery system that 360/PS3 owners could plug a cable into in order to "down-load" any future content.
- Ligersinkenya, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I think they're all just surprised their old rigs will still support it.
- Azuroth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6And it's not like Bioshock has anything in common with this game. They don't run on the same Unreal 3 engine or anything.......
- Shorties, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I am confused Windows required? They are including the Linux version on the disk right? I thought epic usually did a dual release Mac and Windows/Linux, are they not doing that this time? I wont buy it until a Mac version is released. (As much as I love UT I dislike switching back and forth between OS's). I have UT 2k4 for OSX.
- TiMMY8765, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Awesome, I just barely have it.
- X18999, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Same here, I though i was going to have to upgrade ram and everything, looks like my ps3 is going to be missing this
*been looking for a reason to buy a new GFX card but I rarely play PC games* - FinalSight, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5They generally (as is the case here) put an Nvidia and an ATi graphics card side by side for recommended hardware. What I thought was interesting here is that they suggest a 7800gtx for nvidia, and a mere x1300 from ati... It's been my experience that the 7800 flattens the x1300. The 2 cards they offer should at least be comparable..
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5The Unreal community is massive. There have been tons of quality maps, weapons, mutators, total conversions and new gameplay modes (vehicular capture the flag, anyone?) created by them since the first Unreal game came out.
- shadowsword232, on 10/13/2007, -1/+6The minimum requirements are so low that if you don't have them on a computer you bought a year ago then you really try to save a buck or two and it is paying off now.
- greatblackowl, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8Yeah... My 2.5 year old Thinkpad will handle it just fine. In the laptop world, always buy the best system within your budget if you're a gamer. I can run Oblivion, this, Hellgate: London, and StarCraft 2 (I'm looking ahead), so I'm good for at least the next two years.
- pablo0713, on 10/13/2007, -0/+5Yes, must flame you. You sound like the paranoid IT dork everybody is always so tired of hearing. Honestly, I bet if you had XP all this time, nothing bad would have happened to you. You say that the only difference is some security features but I bet those features aren't even required unless you're one of those paranoid types. Upgrade to XP. Windows 2000 (if I recall correctly) is no longer being supported. Look bro, nobody is going to think any lesser of you. Nobody is going to take away the IT Champion title from you. Besides, if you wanted to prove how uber geek you are, you wouldn't be running Windows 2000, you'd be running Linux bitching about how there is no Linux client yet.
- z3021017, on 10/13/2007, -3/+8What I would like to know is what are the specs required to get UT3 looking the same as the PS3 version.
- Bega, on 10/13/2007, -1/+6sweet! now...how about that demo to let us benchmark this epic? eh, eh?
- xerus, on 10/13/2007, -2/+7Man, you must suck at computers. My 2 year old PC can play well past the recommended specs.
- iofthestorm, on 10/13/2007, -1/+6Yeah, I don't see any reason for it either since the x1300 is the lowest ATI card supportign SM3.0 but nVidia cards since I think teh 6 series had SM3.0 support. Pretty big discrepancy between a radeon 9600 and a geforce 6200 too, but not as big.
- GSnake, on 10/13/2007, -0/+4Beastdole: Your spamming is getting lame on every topic.
According to the specs, I should be able to run this via the Recommended specs. The Crysis beta is a little flaky for me, even on all low settings, so hopefully UT3 is rocket fast (UT has always been fairly solid). -
