- EmitStop, on 04/14/2009, -4/+221Damn, what happened to his shades?
- GoKings, on 04/15/2009, -2/+174What's with the growing trend these days of making the characters out of control and unhumanly buff?
- zeebo, on 04/15/2009, -8/+149And yet despite the graphical updates the original is still the best.
You know what Epic, I could care less about UT3 on my main Linux PC at this point. Give me an updated version of the original optimized for running on my netbook. Or just release the source for the original so that the community can maintain it like they do for Quake 3. - ravage386, on 04/14/2009, -11/+129*ridiculous UT3 pelvic thrust*
- unlimit, on 04/15/2009, -2/+115hmmm... Didn't UT3 release back in 07? This picture is so old, saw it when it came out back then.
- ToastPop, on 04/17/2009, -10/+120Ever notice how when someone gets buried, they continue to get buried, until someone says "Why is this getting dugg down?" and then everyone starts digging it up again? It's like everyone is acting entirely on whatever the lead is.
- NinjaGod, on 04/15/2009, -3/+71Why is this guy getting dugg up? He saying you all are following mob mentality.
- Shaflugi, on 04/15/2009, -1/+66Unreal Engine 3 isn't nearly as powerful as Unreal Engine 1 or 2, so it can't render sunglasses.
- omenmedia, on 04/15/2009, -9/+74By Unreal Engine 3, Malcolm just accidentally his sunglasses.
- LimeParrot, on 04/15/2009, -0/+61This is an artist's rendition of what UT4 will look like:

- guerph, on 04/15/2009, -0/+60Gameplay of the original trumps any visual
- mjoe, on 04/15/2009, -0/+59if only the gameplay got better with each release...
- xpose, on 04/15/2009, -2/+59I can't help myself. Someone just tell me how to vote damnit!
- jakereilly, on 04/15/2009, -3/+46Please, please, please stop saying "I could care less".
It just makes you sound dumb. - einstrigger, on 04/15/2009, -1/+42gee, it sure is 2004 around here.
- inactive, on 04/15/2009, -3/+43UT99 is still the best. %@#$ graphics.
- petethepanda, on 04/15/2009, -3/+42Why is this getting downvoted? That ***** was hilarious in old school UT, I didn't even realize it was still in UT3
- jeexbit, on 04/15/2009, -4/+39Ask Laura Croft...
- Cockslap, on 04/15/2009, -9/+42One post above me is full of fail.
- wondertwins, on 04/15/2009, -1/+33digg should make rorr.im as part of digg.
on the side note, the dude seems to be injecting steroids more and more with each unreal engine - ShugNinx21, on 04/15/2009, -0/+32Michael Bay is that you?
- n0t0kayipr0mis3, on 04/15/2009, -0/+30I still play the original Game of the Year Edition on my computer, what an awesome game, after the original, the latter ones seem boring.
- StreetPreacher, on 04/15/2009, -0/+29The sad thing is that pic wasn't even released with the game ... it's a marketing piece from when it was still a distant dream in development. 2006 if I had to guess.
But I guess on Digg everything old is new again...
Edit: The copy on Wiki is dated Sept. '06. The pic itself is probably even older: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Unreal_Engine_Co ...
I also seem to recall that this was a "target render" of what they thought it would eventually be capable of; not an actual realtime shot from in-game (or at least "in-engine"). - smashem, on 04/15/2009, -3/+30Wow, this pic is older than UT2004.
- omenmedia, on 04/15/2009, -0/+27http://www.samchainsaw.de/bild/samuelljackson.jpg
- buddamus, on 04/14/2009, -5/+32Just give me more explosions and I'm happy
- Matsky, on 04/15/2009, -1/+25Agreed. Think about it. You could care less implies you have a higher than nothing care factor. I COULDN'T care less does not. Think people!
- ChinezePanda, on 04/15/2009, -3/+26Sooo... we are posting ***** from wikipedia now?
- sgyoung, on 04/15/2009, -0/+22Vote for Kerry! we can vote bush out!
- MrFisty, on 04/15/2009, -3/+25Look out, that last one has Vaginitis!
- DoodleMaster, on 04/15/2009, -4/+24The above username is fail.
:3 - inactive, on 04/15/2009, -12/+31but he's still black?
- alostreflection, on 04/15/2009, -0/+18UT engine progression seems to mimic Barry Bonds progression as well. With time, bigger, stronger, more of a wow factor, but some how less relevant and not as popular as the original.
- Jektal, on 04/15/2009, -0/+18You mean Lara?
- strictnein, on 04/15/2009, -0/+18But the visuals at the time it came out were stunning. Remember coming out of the crashed ship into that super lush outdoor area? The waterfall, the huge cliffs, all the different places to explore. The little critters that weren't there to try and kill you, but just to add to the ambiance. It was awesome. Kids these days would laugh at it though. You'd probably be able to play it on your iPhone.
Another fond memory: reading Cliffy B's personal site (what we'd all now call a blog, although we didn't have that stupid word in 1997) with him bitching about people who thought that all games should still be DOS based. Win95 was the future of gaming, he said.
And fingering John Carmack and all the other devs at id Software. Yes, that's right kids, we'd finger them.

- slimkevi, on 04/15/2009, -1/+18once you go black...
- stupidfilters, on 04/15/2009, -1/+18seeing that those games with the unhumanly buff characters are using the unreal engine.....
- Iwantawii, on 04/15/2009, -0/+16What? I think Laura Croft meets reasonable expectations of what a real woman can/should be.
- Neekolazz, on 04/15/2009, -0/+16down it 8 minutes...
HIGH SCORE - Digglu, on 04/15/2009, -0/+15Malcolm == Barry Bonds?
- jakereilly, on 04/15/2009, -1/+14Uh, this is at least 4 years old.
And uninteresting. - styromaniac, on 04/15/2009, -2/+15Wow! The first one is understandably crappy because of its generation, but the character model in UT 2004 does not look right at all. His arms are white and his body is too small for his head. I guess that's why Epic now puts emphasis on the importance that the artists and engine programmers meet in the middle. Whoever was the art director during the making of UT 2004 definitely let a sloppy job make it into the final game.
- KMartSheriff, on 04/15/2009, -1/+13Seriously. This pic was cool like 3 years ago. WTF is with all these old pics popping up on Digg lately?
- inactive, on 04/15/2009, -1/+13this is just in wikipedia
- sully213, on 04/15/2009, -1/+13Since the recently released patch, it is actually quite a good game. You should give it another try.
- pimpofpixels, on 04/15/2009, -1/+13Video games are all about stretching reality.
