- Koush, on 12/13/2008, -1/+130Do me a favour game community, buy this game.
- MCA2142, on 12/13/2008, -1/+75Just downloaded a SKIDROW release of the game via Torrent.
It has NO DRM PERIOD. I'm off to the store tomorrow to buy this. This needs support. - inactive, on 12/12/2008, -2/+66I, for one, applaud them. I won't be buying the game, or pirating, it's just not my cup of tea, but way to go Ubisoft none the less.
- XeroXenith, on 12/12/2008, -2/+62Watch and learn, EA.
- Thepirateking, on 12/12/2008, -1/+44The game looked interesting when I saw the video on my 360, but having never played the Prince of Persia games it wasn't really something I was going to pick up, just a hey that looks neat. but now, I might just have to buy it.
- inactive, on 12/13/2008, -2/+44BUY THE GAME!
- inactive, on 12/13/2008, -11/+44Assuming you want to play the game, will you buy it? Digg me up for "Yes", Digg me down for "No". I'm curious.
- Quaterni0n, on 12/12/2008, -1/+29"I am annoyed that companies test the waters with games nobody really plays."
LOL. You don't know much about games, do you? Price of Persia's been around since the 1989 and it's a pretty popular series of games.

Ubisoft is expecting 2.5 - 3 million sales with this game. - amishjim, on 12/13/2008, -1/+25DRM doesn't stop Piracy. SPORE was the most downloaded game this year and a piece of crap.
- benologist, on 12/13/2008, -1/+22I don't think the lesson's going to be what you're expecting... there's over 40,000 people pirating the game right this minute:

The only thing EA is going to learn from Ubisoft, and that Ubisoft is expecting to learn from the internet, is that piracy is about getting something for nothing. - smmakira, on 12/13/2008, -1/+21Never played a Prince of Persia game. I think I will start with this one.
- mindsnare, on 12/13/2008, -7/+24They won't. They/We talk the talk but we don't walk the walk.
- inactive, on 12/13/2008, -0/+14How about those of us who have no interest in the game, but if they did, they'd totally buy it? Should I digg you sideways?
- Spuy767, on 12/13/2008, -7/+21People who pirated the game likely would never have bought it in the first place. What companies fail to realize is that downloaded file != lost sale.
- sancho, on 12/13/2008, -2/+15I have no interest in playing Prince of Persia, but I plan on buying the game to support the no-DRM movement.
Honestly, though, piracy numbers shouldn't increase on this game. DRM only affects that first copy made; after that, that same rip gets hosted all over the place, and people can download pretty freely. Casual copying can't be detected by the publisher. What's really likely to happen here is that Prince of Persia sales will be low for a variety of reasons (the economy, bugs in the game, bad reviews/word of mouth) and it will be ATTRIBUTED to piracy. - inactive, on 12/13/2008, -0/+13Are you implying fewer people would've pirated the game if DRM had been in place?
- inactive, on 12/13/2008, -0/+13 Bart: Uh, say, are you guys crooks?
Tony: Bart, um, is it wrong to steal a loaf of bread to feed your starving
family?
Bart: No.
Tony: Well, suppose you got a large starving family. Is it wrong to steal
a truckload of bread to feed them?
Bart: Uh uh.
Tony: And, what if your family don't like bread? They like... cigarettes?
Bart: I guess that's okay. - VyRuZ, on 12/13/2008, -0/+11Because you wouldn't work for *****, now, would you?
You'll find out how it is once you're off mom & dad's payroll. - theaverageidiot, on 12/13/2008, -0/+11I had decided against buying this one, but now I'm going to.
- kingofnexus, on 12/13/2008, -1/+11I hope this is the first of many games without DRM.
- spookyttws, on 12/13/2008, -1/+10Although the game didn't quite blow me away (I love the POP series, and was really excited for this game) I did have a great time playing in on my 360. That said, I do quite often download movies and games (illegally). In the case of movies, I'll watch the movie once or twice and if I really like them, I go out and buy the DVD (Though most of the time, I download them because they come out WAY before the DVD release, thanks to R5s and DVD SCNRs and am able to view movie I otherwise wouldn't think of spending money on, thus buying movies I otherwise wouldn't even think about). In the case of games, I basically use them as demos, if available on both PC and 360, I'll download the PC version and play a few levels, if I really like it, I'll go out and buy a copy if not, I'll Gamefly it or just won't play it. Truthfully, if more companies put out demos or if the games were priced better (I'd gladly pay $40 for a pretty good game instead of $60 (or $100 for the poor souls in Australia) for a ***** game) I'd be more inclined not to pirate. But that's not going to happen, so all I have to say to developers putting out crap games and charging $60 is "ARRRRRRRR, Matey!"
- joey101010, on 12/13/2008, -1/+10cause it's a good game
- HorseloverFat8, on 12/13/2008, -1/+9Why the hell not? Prince of Persia has been on PC since 1989.
- Naidel, on 12/13/2008, -0/+7Thanks for helping ruin the PC gaming community, Zackinabox. Let us see them churn out yet another MMORPG.
Honestly, though, my experience is that it's easier to pirate any game than playing it legally. Always.
That said, I won't buy this new PoP game, unless it gets good reviews, DRM or not. Sands of Time was awesome, Warrior Within was decent, but the third game in that series was a waste of my money. - TheFuzzyOne, on 12/13/2008, -1/+8"In that case, digg me up and then down :P"
Done and done. - mohsenxp, on 12/13/2008, -1/+7^ Who can say if it's true for the majority of cases?
I agree that many people download a game/video/whatever because they would never have bought it anyway, but that doesn't mean there aren't even more people who would buy it if they didn't download it.
It's a hard statistic to try and pin down, so no wonder for the time being, publishers like to think that downloaded file = lost sale. - Optimaximal, on 12/13/2008, -1/+7I don't understand why you're supporting the no-DRM movement if you don't have interest in the game - surely 'simply not pirating it regardless' is a more sensible way to go about it.
Secondly, nobody will admit it, but they aren't trying to kill piracy with the latest SecuROM. They're trying to kill the second-hand market. - warriorscot, on 12/13/2008, -0/+6Because if its good you want more. To get more you need to give the developers money to keep supporting the game and making new stuff.
For those of us without allot of money having the option to download things try them and then pay for the stuff we really like is important. - ryansimbalist, on 12/13/2008, -0/+6"oh and i hate the people that argue that stealing software is wrong. Whether it is ethically, morally, religiously, spiritually, personally, or lawfully wrong, it will still happen. People will steal software no matter what."
Just because people do it doesn't make it right. - inactive, on 12/13/2008, -1/+7In that case, digg me up and then down :P
- GeckoSlayer, on 12/13/2008, -0/+6I'll be buying it.
- iceman0113, on 12/13/2008, -1/+6I love Prince of Persia and have played it religiously. All of them and I'm going to pick this one up also.
- amishjim, on 12/13/2008, -0/+5At first I loathed Steam, but after how many years now, can't live without it. .
- J-0-E, on 12/13/2008, -0/+5DRM doesn't prevent piracy. It just makes using the product more irritating for the legit customers.
- kdorf, on 12/13/2008, -0/+5True, but most aren't DRMed in the horrible way that Bioshock and Spore were. Most Steam games you can install on as many computers as you want, no worries. It's just that only one person can play at a time. I feel that is very fair.
- spiffyfitz, on 12/13/2008, -1/+6That's awesome! I use torrents to demo PC games. If I really like the game, I go buy it. If not, I usually trash the game before I finish it. It just makes more sense that way.
I made the mistake of pre-ordering GTA IV for PC before I found out there were multiple layers of DRM. I reccomend PC gamers stay away from GTA IV, unless you pirate it. (The pirated version removes the DRM). - Azerael, on 12/13/2008, -4/+9It's not stealing. Nobody has been deprived of anything. Stealing implies that someone has lost something, but you can't lose something (profits) that you werent going to make in the first place (from a broke teenager).
Now, if that teenager started selling duplicates of that pirated copy on a street corner, then that's reprehensible. Otherwise, it's a victimless crime and not worth crying about, let alone pissing off your legit customers over. - jermm, on 12/13/2008, -1/+6Prince of Persia is a game I'd play on console though. I'd be playing with a PS3 controller either way, so why not go all the way?
- Lordrust, on 12/13/2008, -3/+8its on steam just buy it there ...best user experience for getting PC games
- Ratteler, on 12/13/2008, -0/+4Dammit.... I had no interest in buying Prince of Persia. Now I HAVE to.
Positive reinforcement people. You want to send a message, make this the best selling game of the year. - metik, on 12/13/2008, -1/+5I would not have downloaded this game (not really into it). I bought it, in hopes it works out for them so other developers follow suit. That way when i buy a game i like it isn't riddled with drm and activations.
- Asrrin29, on 12/13/2008, -0/+4If I ever get my upgraded PC that I've been wanting for Christmas, this will be the first game I buy.
- ernasty10050, on 12/13/2008, -0/+4At the very least, they should see that no DRM does not have an effect on piracy. Therefore, DRM is unnecessary and a waste of money as well as giving the company a bad reputation.
- christinme, on 12/13/2008, -0/+4because they didn't put in DRM i will buy the game....as a way to reward good behavior. I was going to buy it before but if I had known it had some form of DRM i would have never bought it. Now I will buy it. Thanks for not putting DRM on this software.
- Valyn, on 12/13/2008, -0/+3True, but there is no corralation between the two. It was going to get pirated to hell and back even with the drm.
- Culyt, on 12/13/2008, -0/+3Well of course its going to get pirated, but it would have regardless of DRM.
Buying a game because it has no DRM isn't going to set the industry on some kind of glorious DRM free path, its just a token action, the number or people buying it because of no DRM is going to make a very small difference, although it is still some difference which would be slightly better than with DRM.
I guess it might offset the very small number of people who wouldn't have pirated it because of DRM (ie don't know how to download a crack or the fullgame).
Of course if DRM free becomes the norm, then the effect will wear of quickly, perhapses making good games might be the target for once rather than dumbing them down so much that little 2 year old Jimmy can play with his pet gold fish and great grandma who is trying to work out why the Victrola is making such odd sounds and strange lights.
☢ - voetsjoeba, on 12/13/2008, -0/+3Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a sentence with that much potential for error done right on the Internet before. A tip of the hat to your proper grammar and spelling, good sir.
- inactive, on 12/13/2008, -0/+3That doesn't make sense. If someone has cracked the DRM, how does that limit the number of people pirating it? You only need one cracked copy for DRM to fail completely. I'm just trying to understand the logic here - you say that 10th person would be prevented from pirating, but by what? The DRM's been cracked by the other nine.
- Optimaximal, on 12/13/2008, -0/+3Erm, the only advertising is on the content servers when you try to load a game that's updating.
Also, it's a lot more responsive than the ***** badly-coded download managers written in VB .Net that's pedalled by their rivals. - Narishma, on 12/13/2008, -0/+3Just bought it.
