- colto, on 12/20/2007, -19/+730Jack Thompson is going to have a field day with this.
- ursername180, on 12/20/2007, -41/+621I was going to insert a witty Mortal Kombat joke here...
But then I realised this isn't something people should joke about... :( - Christbait, on 12/20/2007, -5/+357Where is the actual proof that they tried to perform moves from MK? The media are ***** pathetic and these two monsters are just sick ***** and there's nothing more to it than that... stop looking for a scapegoat and face the facts, only people who act out video games are sick.
- busket, on 12/20/2007, -4/+290This isn't 1997, you can't use the mortal kombat defense anymore.
- IIIBTW, on 12/20/2007, -79/+356hang em both.
- KnockoutNerd, on 12/20/2007, -9/+283Why the ***** would they do something like that?
- ell0bo, on 12/20/2007, -19/+177The should have used the Friendship...
- twrife, on 12/20/2007, -17/+16548 years maximum? That's total *****.
- loganhid, on 12/20/2007, -42/+187Idiots - i hope they enjoy their time in jail. And please stop making jokes about this tragic story.
- inactive, on 12/20/2007, -10/+154Because they're stupid degenerates.
You can try and explain this with all kinds of social influences and bla, bla, bla, but the only difference between these two and everyone else that's been subjected to the same social influences is that they are degenerates. They are closer to an ape than they are to the human ideal (a reasonnable, social, kind, caring and intelligent being).
You need to be an animal to attack children. Humans are genetically programmed to care about children. Not in the sense of maternal instincts, but litterally in the sense that a child is supposed to cause an emotional response in humans that make them want to protect them. For example, if a stranger approaches you in the street or asks for help, you may or may not refuse to talk or help that person, because he's an adult and you don't feel at all responsible for him.
But if a child asks for help, you'll miss work to help the kid. You'll sacrifice your time and energy to help the kid just because it's a kid. If the kid is crying you'll feel compelled to comfort him.
These people kicked and punched a child to death. They are degenerates. - CrazedLeper, on 12/20/2007, -47/+172Really not funny.
- ndiderrich, on 12/20/2007, -9/+128I always knew Jax was a dumbass.
- Jangles, on 12/20/2007, -2/+119This whole thing smells fishy. A 16 and 17 year old use Mortal Combat/Game move on a 7 year old? I doubt that have even played the game, give me a break.
- Pimpalicious316, on 12/20/2007, -5/+117I'd just like to know how they learned to shoot blasts of ice. So far my efforts have failed.
- ItsMyWii, on 12/20/2007, -15/+124I can't believe I just dugg that comment...
- whiskeymb, on 12/20/2007, -3/+105When I first read the headline I thought someone ripped her head off or pulled her heart out of her chest. After reading it, I wonder why they aren't saying "Two teens kill 7 year old girl with WWE moves"... everyone wants to blame videogames...
- Enfilade, on 12/20/2007, -2/+88Where is the proof that this had anything to do with the video game?
- Johnny1337h4x0r, on 12/20/2007, -32/+117GET OVER HERE!
- danielsan1701, on 12/20/2007, -1/+79I agree...
1990 - Perp 1 is born
1991 - Perp 2 is born
1992 - Mortal Kombat is released
1993 - Mortal Kombat II is released
1995 - Mortal Kombat movie is released
1995 - MK3 is released
1997 - Entire Mortal Kombat series stops being popular or relevant
1997 - Perp 1 turns 7, Perp 2 turns 6 - waynethegreat, on 12/20/2007, -59/+135If you click into the story and look at the larger picture of the two (I don't know what to call them because I am so mad right now) you will see what looks like a tear in the sisters eye. I bet she is only crying because she knows that she will never see the light of day again. That tear is not for her poor 7 year old sister who was murdered, and for that reason alone I hope they both rot in hell.
- wardrox, on 12/20/2007, -6/+74He'll be on Fox news before you can say "frivolous lawsuit"
- blackinthmiddle, on 12/20/2007, -4/+69Yeah, when I read this article, I was upset that they linked Mortal Kombat to this. The reporter even mentioned, "Well we're not talking about the video game". Really? I thought "combat" was spelled with a "C". Wonder why anyone would link it to the game?
- oreonblade, on 12/20/2007, -1/+66This is stupid. To me, it looks like the morons are just using MK as a means of diverting the blame so they don't take the brunt of it themselves. If Mortal Kombat never existed, they'd probably just do the same thing but this time blame some Wrestlemania game.
- EBFoxbat, on 12/20/2007, -6/+71Good thing they didn't have drugs on them, then they'd be in for life
- manstein01, on 12/20/2007, -8/+70They beat a seven-year-old girl to death. At seven-years-old, your body is very elastic and still growing. It takes a great deal more abuse than you think to kill a child that young. Think about what they were body-slamming her against - it sure as hell wasn't an air mattress.
I would gladly wear the black mask and kick the box. - thetechkid, on 12/20/2007, -2/+63I heard if you go into the bathroom at midnight and say Jack Thompson 3 times, he'll come and sue you for video game violence.
- inactive, on 12/20/2007, -0/+59"Roberts said Zoe had told them to stop wrestling. According to the affidavit, when the witness asked why they didn't stop, he responded, 'I don't know; I was drunk.' "
- sweeneyowns, on 12/20/2007, -4/+62how the hell can anyone blame this on gaming industry. if you are a teenager of 16 or 17 you "should" know that games are not life and its the parents responsibility, if there kid in a complete fool, to teach them that... let that retarded chick cry. i besides if you are 16 you shouldn't be allowed in the house by yourself with your skeezy ass boyfriend anyway.
- Shakermaker, on 12/20/2007, -1/+5748 year in prison for killing a child will be like an eternity once the prison population finds out why they're in. Inmates don't tend to treat child killers with a lot of respect.
They deserve what they get. - unicronband, on 12/20/2007, -31/+83TOASTYYYY!!!
- Stettenbauer, on 12/20/2007, -17/+65 I agree with loganhid ,don't dumb us down by poking fun at this tragedy.......If i was the parent of this child (and I am a parent) these 2 teens would not make it to court .....call it what you will.
- DivisibleByZero, on 12/20/2007, -2/+49Well, among other things there were signs that the body had been frozen, struck by lightning, and dragged across the screen while the killer yelled "get over here".
The autopsy also revealed a distinctive bruise pattern from the blows: up up down down left right left right a b a b select start - inactive, on 12/20/2007, -11/+56A 16 year old girl and a 17 year old boy are left alone and unsupervised.
Someone in that trailer park wanted to be a grandma really bad. The whole "family" sounds like they're trash from the info I gleaned from this and other articles.
In the article I linked to below, the boy says he didn't stop because "I don't know; I was drunk".
http://www.pr-inside.com/us-teens-accused-of-killi ...
This is one of those cases where mama is culpable too. - Lancer383, on 12/20/2007, -2/+45Yeah, this all comes off as a load of bull. Unless the teens are trying to pull the classic "video games made me do it" defense, it sounds like there's some lawyer somewhere trying to grab headlines by linking this terrible murder to a fifteen year-old game.
- johnhummel, on 12/20/2007, -1/+44I find it odd that there's more focus on the Mortal Kombat issue, than the fact that a 16 and 17 year old were drunk while babysitting.
Nah - alcohol wouldn't have anything to do with why two teenagers did something stupid. - liljay2k, on 12/20/2007, -6/+49video games don't kill people, stupid people playing video games kill people
- josefresco, on 12/20/2007, -5/+43you win the thread
- DoodleMaster, on 12/20/2007, -17/+53I'd like to add that yes what they did is horrendous, and they should be held accountable for their actions and the choices they made before that affected their other actions. But I don't think it would be best to kill them.
- JudgeMonkey, on 12/20/2007, -2/+37Wow, you jump to conclusions and pass your judgment on that alone. Yeah, why am I not surprised. You could say you hope they rot for kiling a kid, but no, that's not good enough. You have to imagine things.
- ericrous, on 12/20/2007, -2/+34The same reason you blame a murder on Zoloft or a Twinkie--to get out of a prosecution.
- inactive, on 12/20/2007, -13/+45You may be just a tad too sensitive. You cannot save everyone.
- dezmo, on 12/20/2007, -2/+32something tells me your kids are gunna love college
- fleury29, on 12/20/2007, -8/+37A. What where they doing playing Mortal Kombat for?
2. ***** Jack Thompson!
D. There are no "team" fights in Mortal Kombat. - inactive, on 12/20/2007, -3/+30Poor 7 year old girl...stupid teens, wtf?
- Nobi-Wan, on 12/20/2007, -3/+29That's Killer Instinct, not Mortal Kombat.
- blahtastic, on 12/20/2007, -1/+26Digg up/down is acceptable for comments, I believe.
- inactive, on 12/20/2007, -17/+42I'll volunteer. Pussy.
- blackmage439, on 12/20/2007, -1/+26Uh, yeah. The floodgates have been opened with another set of kids trying to imitate something they should have known better not to do. The "Beavis and Butthead threw a bowling ball out a window; some stupid ass kids did the same and killed somebody" thing wasn't enough. This generation of morons has to continue the trend...
Parents: If your child has a disposition to violence or otherwise idiotic behavior, or you are a douchebag who is too busy to watch your kids because you're busy sniffing crack, keep them away from violence! You're only insulting the intelligence of the rest of the human race by thinking you actually know what's best for your children. Stop blaming the companies who produce this content. Stable, mature, and sane people like myself should be able to subject ourselves to violence all we want. Get a ***** clue and PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR KIDS! - inactive, on 12/20/2007, -0/+24"Roberts said Zoe had told them to stop wrestling. According to the affidavit, when the witness asked why they didn't stop, he responded, 'I don't know; I was drunk.' "
