- harrisbradley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25(sniff, sniff) I've been waiting YEARS for Hang 'em high. Brings me back to the Xbox Connect days. Agreed. LONG LIVE HANG EM HIGH!
- Normio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22You will not download through the marketplace if you have a 360 - you will download using the old Xbox interface and you will need a credit card.
- KrazyKoala, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25Sweetness, long live Hang 'Em High, now bring me Sidewinder 2.0 in Halo 3 please.
Also, looking at the screenshots, the third one looks like Terminal is slightly different. However I haven't played in so long, maybe I'm losing my mind. - DevinOlsen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16The maps look good... But they seem to have lost their Halo 'feel'. When I saw the two screen shots I felt like I was looking at a different game, something more like Unreal Tournament.
But good to see new maps, especially Hang 'em High and Derelict.... Although Chill Out and Damnation would have been a nice addition. - joeshlub, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Hang 'Em high was the *****. I love XBC as well, ever since it i've wanted them to just to an exact clone of halo 1 with live support. I'd rather play halo 1 on live than halo 2 anyday.
I hope that people who were around for the old days of massive halo lans feel the same, 2 has just never been as much fun to me as a 2 hour long 4v4 CTF on sidewinder - guitarh3ro, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16I hope Halo 3 has a remake of every Halo Map so far made, including Halo PC. I'm looking at you, Sidewinder and Death Island.
- joaob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I believe it's still in the Top 2 most played games on XBox Live...
- larsoncc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I think it's important to understand that the money is not going to Bungie here. The money is going to a START UP company called Certain Affinity (www.certainaffinity.com) - these folks have the most sterling of pedigrees, and given a chance, you can bet they're going to make some great games (or expansions). They're following a dream here, and the best part is, they're not selling out to VULTURE capitalists. They're using their own money to deliver cool stuff to us gamers.
I'm more than willing to throw (less than the cost of lunch) a "ton" of money at a company like this.
Think about it this way: These guys have founded their business model on the principle that this old game shouldn't be abandoned, and damn it, that's a good thing. These folks gotta eat, and I'm happy supporting them. - larsoncc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11As of my posting this, there are over 32,000 people online and playing Halo 2. At this very moment. So, yeah - I think that people are still playing Halo 2. (any page of Bungie's site tells you how many people are playing in that moment. I've seen it as low as 5,500 and as high as 40,000)
- crashingechelon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I remember when they orginally anounced they would be working on Halo 2 maps they said it would be xbox360 exclusive. I'm just glad that they decided not to leave the original xbox owners out in the cold. There are people out there like myself who still use the original Xbox and haven't purchased a 360 yet.
This is good news to me! - Hwessin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Yeah you have lost your marbles, there are only two maps. The other screenshot is from the previous map pack. Personally I am ready to get back into the kaos of a Derelict match.
- hokeywebb22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Yea I know what you mean. My school has a monthly LAN but other then me and about 6 other people no one else plays Halo 1. Everyone else either plays Halo 2 or Gears.
- SKOTTO, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11it's $4 for the pair
- worldsbestgamer, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Trash talking 12 year olds everywhere rejoice.
I will wait for 3 to come out so I can play it for a few months before the sugar addicted little timmys of the world get there hands on it. Luckily it takes most parents a special event to spend $60 on a game. - greatghandi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I love me some Hang em' High.
Would have been better two years ago, but two years ago is over. - joaob, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Chill Out for Halo 3 PLEASE!!!
- joaob, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10get off your computer from time to time nerd.
- marspidey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@ajent420
larsoncc is completely right. Max Hoberman one of the founders of Halo is the President of Certain Affinity and it's to help get the company going. If you can't spend $4 but you can buy a Live account then you sir are retarded. - theRIAA, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10hang 'em high is useless without halo 1 pistols...
- mavranos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Bungie didn't produce these maps. Certain Affinity created them.
- strabes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Never played Halo:CE competitively, did you. Derelict was THE map.
- TheFinestShadow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6My only question is what happened to this being 360 exclusive? I guess it doesn't matter too much but I'm just curious as to why the decided to release the maps on the Xbox, too.
- marspidey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@mcatrage
Wouldn't you liked to be paid for your work? Get over it it's only $4. - joeshlub, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8@nickgravelyn
Your pretty much just wrong, modding is almost extinct. What your seeing is standby-ing, which is done with your modem, or by using a bridge through your PC. xbox 1 and 360 are just as vulnerable
On top of that, I'd be pissed if they made 360 exclusive maps. It's an xbox 1 game, they shouldn't force gamers to upgrade their console to get content that would be perfectly functional on the console the game was sold for.
AND matchmaking would suck because 360 users would play on different matchmaking types than xbox users, so they'd be alienated from each other, and why would we want that
They definitely made the right choice with releasing it for both. - EXElotus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3thank you. you took the words right out of my mouth. having to trick your xbox that its in a LAN party is old school. xbox connect was the *****. and i totally agree. Hang 'Em High was the *****. except when u fall from a ridiculous height. *splat*
- nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6@ DevinOlsen
That's probably because they weren't made by Bungie. Bungie hired a contract company to make them for them (Certain Afinity? - I can't remember the name, something like that)
@ guitarh3ro
I know, I'm kind of dissappointed. When I first read that it was only going to work on 360 I thought it was kind of bogus but then I realized that I have a 360, and the maps would look ***** awesome if they made them for 360. But at least this way, everyone gets to play. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I agree. What made Hang 'em High was that it was an all out pistol fight without any one person whoring the sniper. I hope Halo 3 has the pistol from Halo, but not as overpowered as it was.
- Paal, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5we'll see how long your self-righteous indignation lasts when all your friends are online playing these maps
- rocke86, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yes, current number...
32,938 Players Online in Halo 2 - bookishboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Perfect trash talk for the Derelict re-make.
"Why don't you dere-licte my balls?"
(crouch/crouch/crouch) - Paal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3there were over 50,000 at 11pm central time, just last night
- 2smooth4u, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Sweet! I'll be buying these.....it's been too long since they came out with new maps. I'll pay just because I'm tired of the same old maps.
- dodgyd55, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2no dice. im not paying for any thing even if it is $4 for an old games new maps, maybe if there was alot more content like old halo maps (from the pc as well)
- Wisgary, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Yeah, but the screenshots are really hard to find, you know, on the article digg points to.
- st3vo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3You can Derelict my balls, capi-tan.
- RoadDoggFL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, but it was also THE depressing map and THE map nobody asked for a remake of.
- dustysquareback, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2IT'S FOUR ***** DOLLARS PEOPLE. Christ, what a bunch of whining little bitches. $4 for *both* of them. This likely doesn't even cover the cost of disseminating the maps to the public.
But, on topic; Thank you, powers that be, for the glorious return of Hang em high. I can hardly wait. And personally, I always like Derelict - except for the oppressive color scheme. Now it's brighter, which is cool. And has MONKEYS!!
Yeah, I woulda loved to see Damnation, but that map is pretty complex. Woulda taken them a lot longer than something small and symetrical like DerelictMyBalls. - weister42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just sold my XBox...DAMN
Waiting for the 360 Elite... - strabes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I always wondered why they left out the best two (tournament) maps in Halo:CE from Halo 2.
- marspidey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@nreynolds
Ever heard of Max Hoberman?
http://www.certainaffinity.com/about.htm - P373Y, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1bitchface.
- marcomc2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1THANK YOU, for hang em high, thank you. the greatest halo map of all time. personally i never really though halo was special, even tho i waited for it for pc, then they announced the xboxness, then the only thing that made me think it was cool was multiplayer. many good hours of fun four playerness on hang em high. can these times return...? i hope so
- st3vo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Whaa? nobody gets it? cmon people, Zoolander? Anyone?..
- Derrekito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wanted hang em high two years ago, people still play this ***** online? I got sick of the glitches and the cheating.
- jonpirtle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i just downloaded them both and need somebody to play with......
xx scavenger xx send invites - duke_nate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Go choke on something.
- wwwdot1jesdotus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I'd rather play halo 1 on live than halo 2 anyday."
Get halo pc. I play it all the time. You can also mod an xbox controller to work on your pc:
1. Cut off the xbox end of a xbox controller dongle and strip the wires.
2. cut off the pc end of a usb cable and strip its wires.
3 connect the wires according to their color.
4. download a driver (http://homepage.mac.com/walisser/xboxhiddriver/)
5. Play Halo 1 online with an xbox controller and higher resolution than the xbox version. - jonpirtle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1and btw they maps looks awesome, i cant wait to replay some of the great ctf games on Hang em High
- LMN8R, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If I was 10 years old, I wouldn't be looking back on the days when I wasn't being ripped off for average content, now would I? I'm sorry that today's gamers have grown so used to being micro-transactioned up the ass for all their purchases nowadays.
At least this trend hasn't started with PC gaming outside of Oblivion yet....and even that stopped quickly. - mjpatey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Should *have* done.
