- kingkilr, on 10/12/2007, -8/+21A plot that doesn't suck?
- airencracken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Online co-op would be awesome, regular co-op was my favorite mode for Halo.
- mjolnir334, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13Original Halo Pistol!
- PercyKittenz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10How would you do day/night cycles on a planet that's a ring? The nights would last about ten minutes, wouldn't they?
- tidu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7no more n00b combo! ;)
- ka0tic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Bots are a definite must because it would be an ideal way to train before going online. It helps you develop strategy.
- trapt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8i think most of those are spot on. interactive environments especially...the first two games were a might static for my taste.
- knightblade2oo4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6exactly
Imagine assault ending in a catostophic explosion, briinging down walls and *****. - deepvirus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5those are all excellent ideas
adding much or all of those suggestions would help prevent
Halo from gettting stale for most of us! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I agree, all of those are spot-on. In-fact its almost embarrasing that they havent had them in the past 2 games :)
- KissTheRing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I kind of like the idea of bots, but I think the bots should learn from fighting you and maybe even learn new tactics via online updates. These updates could be based on the tactics used by real people on xbox live.

the flood are just kinda like zombies, i dunno how that would work in story mode.
although here is an idea i toyed with for (online?) multiplayer:
team vs flood
imagine a level like blood gulch and coagulation (bloody coagulation in halo 3?), and you have to defend a base with fellow team members (8, 16?) from the onslaught of flood from a crashed covenant ship. that means lots of flood, and they are bringing lots of weapons - matt0817, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4most matches last 10 minutes...
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4How about a seperate online category for players under 16?

-Ralph Wiggum - foomojive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7I'm hoping Bungie takes notice of this as these are sorted by how many people suggested them. Let's digg it up so it can't be ignored!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3OHHHHHHHHHHHH YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
*chhk* sector clear *chhk* - Kinsbane, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6flyable Pelican ftw!
- shlemielo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3In the end, what determines the success and longevity of a game like Halo is the multiplayer aspect. For example, games like Max Payne had great singleplayer, but community quickly died down as people moved on to other games. I still LAN Halo 1 a few times a week, and I'm hoping that Bungie will make the multiplayer in Halo 3 more like the original Halo instead of Halo 2. Not holding my breath though.
- staticneuron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3A flyable Pelican is an awesome idea..... but chances are instead of transport I would use it as a weapon.
"Kamikaze!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" - foomojive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4these are the top ten most requested features for Halo 3 on the Podtacular podcast.
- Cannfodd3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3How about he takes his helmet off and he's really a girl!
Oh wait... different game. My bad. - ollj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3So all Halo 2 players basically want to play Tribes 2.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribes_2 - matt0817, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i wanna play as a grunt online.
- reeder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Good ideas, but I think they need massive multi-player whole scale battles, where hundreds (possibly thousands or more) of players sign up and play in a division sized war games against either other players, bots, or both. Run it like a huge battle. It would be a new step in gaming, and a killer experience.
- Jeebugorn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i'd like to see some terrorists....and counter-terrorists......and some VIPs to protect.....and a bomb in the building.
- LunarOcean, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Some fact. Where'd ya pull that number from, hmm?
A lot of the dislike for Halo comes from it being overrated. Digg me down, whatever, Halo is an overrated game. Don't get me wrong, I believe it's a great game and had good execution, but it wasn't as revolutionary as most made it out to be. It's similar to FFVII in some regards. From what I've observed, Halo was some gamers' first fps, much as VII was the first RPG for a fair share of people. I have to say it, I think that's because they both played on the 'cool' aspect moreso than similar games preceding them.
And for those who were playing their first great fps, or first great rpg, or first great whatever....they started praising it as beyond Godly. When the ones who have been playing games of that nature before see this, it's not too uncommon to see them get annoyed. I thought FFVII was one hell of a game, but I don't think it's leaps and bounds above every other one that's been made. However, it's got too many fanboys that shout out to the world how uber Sephiroth is. I tire of hearing it when it's pretty apparent that lots of those fans have never really played another RPG.
In the same way, Halo was great, but it's been praised too much. It's been called too revolutionary, when in reality it wasn't. It brought online fps to the console world, and did a damn good job of it. When I think about it, though, I'd have to say that Goldeneye did more for console FPS than Halo did.
Had there not been X-box live, it would not be nearly as popular as it is today. I tend to think it would be viewed as Goldeneye 007 for the 64 is. As such, I think that if Goldeneye had had some sort of online play that Halo wouldn't have been praised as much.
I'm one of those that hasn't played Halo online, I'll say it. Whether that negates my comment or not, up to you. When I was playing multiplayer, though, it didn't seem like anything super special. If simply allowing online gameplay is what makes it so badass...well, PC games have been doing that for quite awhile. - Rezzy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Digg user 3.0

- Redchannel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Halo is like, the ultimate game for the xbox. Not only can you use it as a fun multiplayer game, but you and your friends can do all kinds of recreational things like, take walks on Coagulation, play NASCAR with the Warthogs, and even play tag ! Halo Rocks !
Halo 2 > PS3 - appleswitch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I still play Marathon.
Aleph One open source engine :-) - BrentGamer, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6I can tell that this Nub guy got his name for a reason.
Little known fact: 99.9% of people that dislike Halo have never played it online before!
The thing that makes Halo so great is it's simplicity; The maps are easy to remember, you just go find whatever weapon you want to and fight your way over to the enemy base. So keep that in mind as you dream about the possibilities of Halo 3.
Do you really want to have to wait at a respawn screen, choose your weapon, go to the map screen and set a waypoint because you don't remember where anything is on the map, and then figure out how to get your 'Hog out of first gear because Bungie decided to go Manual with the driving setup, just to get sniped in the face every five seconds by a guy who respawns with a sniper? - isthisnametaken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I liked the bots you could have in Perfect Dark for the n64. They all had different personalities and difficulities.

dude your so right, my first fps was doom, i still play that game, i compare all other fps with it, and none of them come close in my opinion, doom was just 2 awesome to be true, you are on a moon base with demons form hell, and you went around blasting there guts out, the levels were all amazing, the game play was the best. but halo?? i don't know maybe if it was my first fps and stuff, i might have more respect for it
@Jeebugorn
same here - Jeebugorn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3you're upset about there not being sequels to games.....and claiming that not making those sequels is "death to originality"??????

i mean, it would be so awesome to be able to train up before going online, so that i wouldn't get completely OWND... which, as it is now, tends to happen... a lot - BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Armor that takes visible damage... that should be possible with geometry shaders.
""The traditional vertex shader takes in a single vertex, a single point, and it has to output a single vertex. It's impossible for the vertex shader to create or destroy triangles because it always has to output a vertex for each one it takes in. The geometry shader lets the game operate on entire geometry primitives, lines, triangles, and points as well as neighboring adjacent primitives. The geometry shader can also create new primitives, add new triangles, before sending them further down the pipe to the rasterizer and pixel shader." - foxhoundadmin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1how 'bout making nades and stickies count no matter if you die or not, getting rid of host shotgun, br, sniper, sword, beat down... how 'bout an energy meter for the sword in multiplayer, too, and better netcode--as to reduce or fully eliminate the amount of time players can stay in blue screen (no more standbying)!? how 'bout putting jump damage back in the game (no more super bouncing)!?
most of all, how 'bout a better system for detecting hard/soft modded xboxes (no more modding)!? microsoft already has a user-based system in place for detecting bad players. no, it's not called feedback (feedback doesn't work)! it's called "gamer rep." gamer reputation is great! too bad it's only for the 360. now, we just need an automated system in place for detecting bad xboxes!
i'd much rather see those things listed in my first paragraph combined with what's listed in my second paragraph than all of what's listed in that stupid article! - matt0817, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3pistol sniping was bitchy
- Jeebugorn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@lunarocean
man, if i could give your 2 thumbs up i would. i completely agree. i had been playing FPSs since doom and wolfenstein, so when halo came out, it wasn't all that to me. the only thing that i REALLY like was being able to play co-op with a friend of mine. we both bought and xbox and both got halo. then played co-op almost non-stop until completion.
in terms of a game that is a good FPS for online play, i'd have to pick CS: Source as being superior. more realistic than halo, not as buggy as BF2. guess what halo fanbois, i was playing original team fortress online back in 1997...halo's "online capabilities" do not impress me. - bignate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I am AMAZED that they didn't mention multiplayer map/game type filtering. The map rotations online SUCK half the time. You'll play the same three maps for HOURS before coming to one that you want. How come (like EVERY OTHER MULTIPLAYER GAME IN THE WORLD) I can't choose WHICH map I want to play on?
Also, what's up with HOST? Whenever I play a shotgun game, the guys with host tend to own, because there's a major advantage to it. Here's an idea, rather than host the game on my 360, why don't you do so on some damn servers, seeing as how I PAY for my Live subscription? There's no such thing as HOST in CSS or Battlefield, and its because it creates a major imbalance in the game. - jtt123, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1they forgot sharks with frickin lasers
- Jeebugorn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lol......well said ollj.
- Hermitwise, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Because they were very original compared to a game like Halo which just takes a safe formula and tweaks it a bit, I'm not saying Halo2 wasn't fun, but I don't like how video game companies are starting to market to the lowest common denominator because of how popular and mainstream it has become. You put more money into hyping a game and it sells better regardless of what it's like, the more money it makes the less they will alter the sequel. Which is why you have 5 Madden games that are almost identical and only one Psychonauts..
- rderveloy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wish they would fine tune the friendly AI so they they aren't completely useless when not sitting in a vehicle.
It's one thing to have smart and adaptive enemy AI, it's another to have the same thing for your own side as well. One thing that Bungie did in both HALO1 and 2 was to make the enemy AI smarter when you increased the difficulty level, which makes sense, but it also made your squad mates completely inept in the process, which meant that the friendly AI were only good for cannon fodder and ammo reloads.
Who knows, maybe the old Xbox didn't have enough juice to increase the enemy AI and maintain friendly AI simultaneously. - igraham09, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the hype was horrible
i expected Halo to be some OMGREVOLUTIONARY game. It wasn't.
don't get me wrong though, it was SWEET, just not "OMGREVOLUTIONARY"
btw: my first FPS was DOOM II :D - raindogmx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14. A map editor. Games such as Far Cry: Instincts already have this available on the Xbox.
I think this is a wonderful idea and I don't see any reason why the editor should be platform specific. Think of an editor you can use on your PC (which is a lot more suited for level editing) and then uploading your maps to Live, maybe single player missions too. A lot can be done this way, maybe create a very interesting community, and goes along with Microsoft's utopia of connecting everything together.
Plus someone could come up with a single player ending. -
