- eastbeast314, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9The Xbox Duke controller has no place on that list. A good portion of Xbox owners still use it and refuse to use the smaller controller.
It's a real controller, whereas the Spiderman one is a...a.. - DrGamez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5How did the powerglove end up on that list? I mean sure it's a piece of ***** but come on... it's the freaking powerglove.
(And who didn't go see The Wizard just to watch SMB3?) - Lord_oftheTrons, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I second that comment about the fattie xbox controller. When I bought my xbox preowned it came with a small one, so I went out of my way to buy one of the originals.
- Threephaserebel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I can't stop laughing at the Spider-man joystick! It's so wrong and so funny!
- jediboytj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I love the original Xbox controller, it fits so comfortably in your hands (unless your hands are the size of an 8 yr old's)... just swap the spider man one with the Xbox one and you have a real "worst" list
- MikeZila, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I like the large Xbox controller. All you kids with tiny hands just whine too damn much.
- Dhalgren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The spiderman joystick wouldn't be as funny if the guy wasn't holding it at his crotch like it's some sort of spidey-erection
- 8bit_Hero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The Duke kicks ass. still one of my all time fav controllers (along with the dreamcast)
- TootsMutant, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Bring bat the fat duke.
That fat Xbox controller is one of the few contemporary game controllers out there that doesn't make my hands hurt (and I have relatively small hands).
Fifteen minutes of a standard PS/2 or Gamecube controller, and I can barely pick up a can of pop. - TokenUser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The powerglove on the list? WTF? I have one that I bought used, and hacked for my computer to do some VR work. Nothing like grabbing a box and dragging it across the screen.
It wasn't bad - just too far ahead of its time. - LatvianHedgehog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Spidermans Plug'n'Play - Girls Favourite Toy !
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yeah, I actually like the Xbox fatty controller.
Great listing, though. Dugg - afpunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Digg for including the TI-99 Home Computer controller. I'm probably alone in saying that that was my first gaming system, and despite what they say it had some really fun games. But that controller was absolutely horrible.
There was this one game called Parsec (a side scrolling space shooter) where you had to refuel your ship by flying through this rocky tunnel at the bottom of the screen. The problem was it was almost impossible to be precise enough to fly through the rocks with that horrible controller. I remember refueling successfully once--that's it. Even if I was 5 or 6 at the time, it was frustrating as hell. - Wantednz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I love my large xbox controller. It's way better and more comfortable than the small ones. Take it off the list.... now
- capn_crunch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OLD!!!!!!!! rip-off of an article in Gamepro
- EricG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I own a Turbo Touch 360, it wasn't that horrible (once you got used to it)..
- Outlawstar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe it was a concept, but The Playstation 3 Controller is the gayest of them all.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
(And who didn't go see The Wizard just to watch SMB3?)
Raises hand. - ardellin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OK, I usually hate list articles, but this is pretty damn funny.
I am actually surprised that so many of you liked the fat xbox controller. Coming from PS1 and PS2, the transistion to the S type was so much easier than that huge POS. I must admit though that I really wanted a touchpad back when Mortal Kombat first came out. I never got one, so I just gave up trying to do Kano's moves. - buss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hahahaha, dugg just for the spiderman honorable mention
- Bokista, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love the powerglove. It's so bad
- cbreaker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yea, I'm glad I'm not the only one that didn't mind the original Xbox controller.
Honestly, it's a little big LOOKING, but it's not actually that big compared to other controllers. And it's not heavy or anything. You don't have to "wrap your hands around it" - you held it on both sides. It left a comfortable position for your wrists and you could reach every button without stretching.
The Xbox 360 controllers aren't good, besides being wireless. Not only did they completely nerf the rear pull buttons by removing most of their distance, there's this extra set of buttons on the top of the controller that are pretty uncomfortable to reach (you have to bend your index fingers sideways? Great.) - Karyyk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The Jag controller shouldn't be there, much less be #1. It's not the most aesthetically pleasing controller, but it was fuctional, and responsive. The arguments are pretty weak (who cares if it uses a VGA connector...and the 3DO controller of that same period also had three buttons) and I imagine the person who put this together has rarely used one. Weak = no digg.
- KissTheRing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah back in the day I fell for the whole power glove craze. Total crap, it was impossible to play a game with it.
- Strangers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"The Spiderman one looks like a penis."
Wait... WHAT!
+digg - Hozezero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I used to have the U-Force, it was horrible. On the plus side, i figured out sign language trying to make Mario jump!
- badfrog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Totally wrong on the Jaguar controller, I spent tons of time on the Jag and it's actually quite comfortable. And I have no idea where his problem of the controllers falling out came from, never seen that happen. Worse than a 5200 controller or an Intellivision disk? No way.
- Noelix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sad thing is, I've owned three of those! INCLUDING the spider man joystick plug n play! It looks like a spider-man-phallus! And get this, the top button on the joystick SHOOTS WEBBING in the game! Hahaha
- rimco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ha, I remember seeing the commercial for the Wizard and asking for SMB3 for Christmas that year (it didn't come out until after Christmas), thinking, "but Santa Clause could get it... he could do anything!"
And as for the Duke, well... you can seat a family of 4 on it! - loginname, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I owned a U-force, the best games to play with it on the NES were Puchout and Top-Gun. It pretty much sucked for everything else.
Neat concept though! - xodex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1where is that ps3 controler? [ ) ]
- Allanon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wonder why the Logitech Cyberman didn't make the list?
http://incolor.inebraska.com/bill_r/logitech_cyberman.htm - Silencer7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1there we go:

http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2001/11/28 - jpesicka2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1c'mon nes buckle!!! make me a belt buckle out of the spider man joystick
- hutchy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1good list, apart from #2, i prefer the bigger pad over the 'S' one.
- Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sorry for those of us between the age of 18-30 the good ol' Xbox Duke works perfectly well and is like a big comfy couch. To those of you with "carnie-hands" or fall into the Pokemon loving demographic I can see how a larger controller would not appeal to you.
- jpesicka2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hey ign, you forgot polland.
- Fentekreel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i must say the power glove didn't suck...anyone play face ball? that was an innovative game...still it wasn't useful yet...you couldn't pair it with you retro capt'n belt
I do believe it was way way way ahead of it's time...has no one thought of the revolution controller....and fps.....hmm seems like the mouse is obsolete possibly? hmmmmmm i know i can twitch my hand faster in the air with more accuracy than you can twitch a mouse :) still requiring a surface....just some food for thought.... - 8bit_Hero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0>>>I am actually surprised that so many of you liked the fat xbox controller. Coming from PS1 and PS2, the transistion to the S type was so much easier than that huge POS.
- knightblade2oo4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The xbox controller is at number 2?
What about some other 3rd party controllers like that madcatz airflow *****?
You can't spell ignorance without IGN. - Denver80203, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Say... Isn't this Wednesday?
- Cerberus047, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"WTF, the N64 controller didn't make the list?"
I LOOOVE THAT CONTROLER ive made love to it many times... we had little gameboys and gamegirls as our offspring - spectre_25gt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's a shame that turbo touch didn't work out. Done well it could have really improved the experience of fighting games.
- cybrauralninjuh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh... and ***** whoever is talking ***** about the 64 controller.... I'll throw down, right here, right now.
ftw - jonathanex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The power glove is the greatest controller ever. End of story.
- AJRiddle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok, The Duke (original xbox controller) should maybe be #10 if its even on the list. It is huge, and does not fit comfortable in the average adults hand. The controller S on the other hand is amazing, the move of the white and black buttons is much better since now you can press the white and A button at the same time instead of stretching for the A. I like The Duke, but the S is a much better improvement, and if you chubby-chasers like the original and don't like the S, just give it a week to grow on you and you will realize it is better. Also, it was much harder to go from the average controller to the fatty than from the fatty to the S.
- beedun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0About my post on the NES MAX, I will go back in time and call myself a n00b, never knew you could use the black ring to control it. Yes the turbos were great, but the red disc thing sucked ass and until today I thought that was the only way it worked.
- dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I still have my U-Force.... I bought it because the commercial made it look SOOO COOL for playing Mike Tyson's Punch Out. (but yes, it sucked)
- LemonHerb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I had a CDi and I actually liked it, you could figure out the controller after a while. I just loved that "Lords of the Rising Sun" game
- gcauthon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0None of those were as bad as the controller that came with Mogul Maniac for the Atari 2600. I used it one time before permanently shelving it in the closet. For those that never played the game, it was a big platform that you stood on to simulate skis. Leaning forward/backwards made your player go faster/slower and leaning left/right made your player turn.
