- YME1280, on 06/25/2009, -0/+19I think Blizzard and Activision should have been number one but a good list nonetheless.
- lnxfi, on 06/25/2009, -2/+18EB & GameStop
I can't go there anymore... I just can't put up with their don't give a damn attitude and the $54.99 USED price for a game that had a pizza eaten off of it.
I prefer to go to this local place (they only sell used games though) down the road from me instead. They give you more for the trade-in (and it's cash) and charge much less for used games. - Branchex, on 06/25/2009, -1/+13Microsoft should have bought Sega, they would probably be doing better in Japan with a native brand and franchises.
- DirtPile, on 06/25/2009, -1/+12Westwood and EA?
- Petmc, on 06/25/2009, -0/+8Rare merging with Microsoft
- DirtPile, on 06/25/2009, -0/+6Is there such thing as a Bottom 10 List?
- Khast, on 06/25/2009, -0/+6Sorry, but I play violent video games and there is nothing wrong with me. It only affects morons who can't tell the difference between reality and fantasy.
- Night0wl, on 06/25/2009, -0/+5I disagree with the article... Microsoft didn't buy Halo. Microsoft bought Marathon. And then turned into the frat boy circle jerk that became Halo.
How I miss you, Marathon. - alienufo, on 06/26/2009, -0/+5that was one of the most devestating mergers for anyone who actually liked the C&C series...
- Nydendarin, on 06/25/2009, -0/+5IGN merging with 404... now 'that' is a merger worth mentioning.
- Renian, on 06/25/2009, -1/+6Holy *****, Zenimax/Bethesda bought id?
Get ready for Doom in an open world using the Oblivion engine. - LoveClapham, on 06/25/2009, -0/+4Namco and Bandai still feels weird even now - I don't know why because it actually makes total sense.
- Fabbyfubz, on 06/25/2009, -0/+4Instead, play sports games and you'll be better at them in real life
- MiDri, on 06/25/2009, -0/+4I love when new games come out and they offer 20% more in trade for your games if you put the money towards the new game purchase... Because getting $9 instead of $7 is soooooooo much more tempting.
- Khast, on 06/25/2009, -0/+4Gamestop bought FuncoLand as well....FuncoLand was superior in every way to Gamestop/EB. Gamestop adopted the FuncoLand layout and various other aspects...but the aspects they long past forgotten was customer service.
- Elranzer, on 06/26/2009, -0/+4Super Mario 64 would have load times?
- Broodax, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3Uhh, Halo was being worked on prior to the Microsoft buyout. You don't remember the demo's in 1999 from E3 and MacWorld.
- Vallsurf, on 06/26/2009, -0/+3I am not too sure why you are being dugg down. Although technically, it was always a Japanese company, founded and ran by Americans.
- Night0wl, on 06/26/2009, -0/+3I refuse to believe! Marathon, Nooooo!!
- mrgreen371, on 06/27/2009, -0/+31. EA buys out company A.
2. EA buys out company B.
3. EA buys out company C.
...
10. EA buys out company J.
-------------------------------------------
Next list, top 10 great games no longer being made.
1. Great game from company A.
... - Minapan, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3sooo true, i only buy new/ very old used games at gamestop. otherwise i go to gamers
- Minapan, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3truth!
- gamerbambi, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3How would life be if Sony and Nintendo merged in the making of the Playstation?
- Khast, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3Actually RARE was still independent at last I recall. Microsoft bought a controlling percentage of stock. (Anyone can do that, if you have enough money to buy at least 25% of a company's stock.) Which is close to a merger, but not quite. The company can buy back the stock at any time, but it is kind of beneficial in a way for Rare.
Nintendo pulled out, most likely to prevent competitor from having advance knowledge of upcoming products. - Elranzer, on 06/26/2009, -1/+3Square and Enix... what a tragedy. Not a single good game has come out of that company after the merger. Funny too, since the two companies made awesome games when they were separate.
- Shawn4168, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2Amazon's trade-in game service is pretty good too. They offer better trade-in values than Gamestop and you get a pre-paid shipping label. Plus they offer specials all the time. For example, their current special is, trade in $75 worth of games and receive an additional $75 credit toward the purchase of a new console/handheld system.
- Minapan, on 06/25/2009, -1/+3Any Game store>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Gamestop
- constchar, on 06/26/2009, -0/+2What is funny about that is Sega is originally an American company that eventually got bought out by the Japanese.
- jaythewise, on 06/25/2009, -1/+2Good list other then the wacko number 1 pick
- jtf042, on 06/25/2009, -1/+2Or just.... 10 game industry mergers
- xreadx, on 06/29/2009, -0/+0true! =(
- DirtPile, on 06/25/2009, -4/+2Great story!
- lethal0r, on 06/25/2009, -3/+1since when has SEGA been good? before 1995 maybe, not since.
- ivan423, on 06/25/2009, -10/+4Some guy tried to sell me t-shirts for $5 each, and i was like no thank you.
- maxvette, on 06/25/2009, -12/+4Microsoft and Bungie? You put that in top 10? really? Bottom 10 is where it belongs.
Im suprised you didnt put the Sony/Nintendo Playstation on there. Sure it wasnt a merger, and it didnt go anywhere.
But that had as big an impact on the Gaming industry as Sega pulling out of the console business before it blew its load. - inactive, on 06/25/2009, -14/+0Don't play violent video games, it's brainwashing, desensitizes you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlKF_gwA2Jc
