- StickyShoez, on 10/12/2007, -1/+46I'm pretty sure Jesus has a Wii in his living room.
- gabrielwalker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+44Religious?
...What, does playing Nintendo's Wii bring you "closer to God" or something? - crgnetworks, on 10/12/2007, -3/+41Since when did religion have anything to do with Christmas? I though walmart made it to capitalize on sales....
- LycoLoco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Right, just like how we all got sick of the Nintendo DS. Oh, wait...
- zeptobyte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Woo! I love badminton!
- Sirocco, on 10/12/2007, -8/+28I thought liberals were supposed to be tolerant? Either way, you're a pathetic ass who needs to grow up.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17I just really hope that all this hype doesn't go to Nintendo's collective head.
They still have a lot to prove with the Wii. I know Nintendo can do it, but I hope that they don't get lazy and think that they can succeed on first-year accolades alone. Nintendo needs to keep pushing the Wii for many more years to come, instead of nearly abandoning it like they did with the GameCube.
The Wii is a great console, and I've been enjoying it since launch......but, there's always the outside chance that innovation in games will fall to cheap gimmicks instead of novel uses for the Wiimote. Of course, the same could have been said about the DS when it launched, so I think the Wii is in good hands. - geepee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14badminton is fun as hell. I'd buy that even if was just its own game.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17wow, you're the first person to ever point that out...
/sarcasm - Sabin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12No, Microsoft is in the ring with Sony and sucker punching them in the back of the head while Sony is looking around for Nintendo.
- jedikd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10how many times do we need to hear who the "winner" is the in the console war (ignoring the point that the war is about 1 month underway) ? Buy the console you like the most and find the most fun, screw the numbers
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I question the credibility of Times after declaring ME the person of the year.
- cell00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Not a chance that badminton wouldn't appear before the 44st edition. I CALL *****
- joelmole, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I don't know about that, though you're on the right track. I've struggled to come to terms with myself about whether this is just hyperbole or not, but I feel pretty strongly that Wii Sports is the most important game of the year, perhaps even the last several years, though it isn't ever considered the "best" game by any standard on its technical merits. I don't think people fully understand the magnitude of the ripples going through the consumer gaming market right now because of this game. It's opening up console gaming to millions upon millions of people who didn't care about and ignored console gaming before.
- Shaggy6ster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7microsoft is making a profit on their system right now.
- kirakun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5MERRY CHRISTMAS, everybody --- especially to you MacLiberal!
- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Well Nintendo is saying they arent even fighting this console war... but everyone seems to thnk the Wii is winning.
So its like Sony is in a boxing ring by itself... and it is losing? - Joga5000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5From the article: "...while Nintendogs attracts young girls."
As a 19 year old male, I resent that.
*hides his copy of Nintendogs: Dachshund and Friends* - PabloIV, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm lucky there aren't as many geeks down here in Puerto Rico, I got a Wii at Toys R' Us on launch day, without making a line or anything, and there were a bunch still left when I got mine. Also, though I didn't get one when I bought it, I've bought 2 Wiimotes since with no trouble or shortages, or a: come back when they're available. Also hooray for Wii, I love mine, graphics don't come near my 360's on any TV much less my HD one but it's so much fun to play. I tried out the PS3 at EBX where they had it hooked up to a 42" plasma, and it didn't look much better than what I get at home with my 360. So, with a larger game library and lower price point I think I'll stick with what I've got. If Sony doesn't do something and FAST they're never gonna hit 10 million units which is what they need to "win" this thing.
- Falldog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Just holiday.
- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm just waiting for ONE person who said that the PS3 was going to dominate from launch to admit they were wrong......no lame excuses. Just ONE person.
- dagamer34, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Profit doesn't include R&D and the fact that they lost money from selling the console last year too.
- cplkai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That's what I was referring to. The fact that "mainstream" publications are saying things like Wii Sports is the greatest game of all time. Even if it's not necessarily the greatest from (us) a gamers perspective, it very well might be from someone who isn't a gamer.
- MrStylz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4That article misspoke - according to several other sources, Microsoft is now turning a profit on 360 systems.
- Nudar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The Times, which is a British newspaper, is in no way affiliated with Time Magazine, an American magazine.
- SuperSloth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Bigotry: Not just for theists anymore!
- steveoco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I wonder how many people are gonna get a dick in a box...
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I wish I could digg you one hundred times
- mjpatey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just got Hand Painted Wooden Ball-In-A-Cup!
- mikev, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Surprise!
- justice7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2if this counts, i've seen a number of ps3's for sale and no one buying.
- artemus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"Buried, get rid of religious christmas ***** off of Digg".
The sooner we get ignorant bigots like you off of Digg, the better off we'll all be.
By the way, this is a story about the Wii- not Jesus, Mary or Joseph. You might want to read the headline a little closer before you hit the submit button.
Noob. - sardion2000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Happy Holidays then! Happy Kwanza! AND MERRY XMAS!
- cybersnafu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nintendo is, figuratively speaking, headbutting Sony in the crotch while Microsoft approaches from behind with the piano wire. Yoink!
- AlphAssassin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3You'll be waiting another 5 years for those official numbers, unless you are just referring to Holiday sales.
- schwegler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1effing mac user ass holes... this guy must be why the john hodgman character is so loveable.
- JimmyJJWalker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1People are referencing the same magazine that declared them the person of the year with a crappy mirror cover, oh ok...
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, thank you Nudar. I hereby revoke my mildly humorous comment and ask forgiveness for my folly. Thank you.
- lordmetroid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actualluy it is true. I saw this article some time ago. It demonstrated howthe companies doesn't gain anything from each other but rather compete over who to catch new audience. Expansion in the game market is still possible as it isnät saturated(not all are playing) so gaining a bigger share of the market is done by the means of expending your audience rather than stealing a competitor's audience.
- Sikon327, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A friend of mine says that the Wii and the PS3 should be in separate markets/are not the same. Stupid markets. He compares it to some SUV ad that says its better than some sedan. Just something to think about: Markets can really get too general.
This is a friend, by the way. Don't tell me, tell me to tell the friend. I'll probably never get around to it, though. - thejokker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ok, well now that times has declared a winner lets stop talking about who is selling more or who is more popular.
it has obviously been decided and it is time to move on. - OpCzar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just what I want to read about on christmas, sales numbers...
- razorsharp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Way to make liberal Mac users look like jackasses, *****. Do you think it should be taboo to discuss the most influential and important holiday in the western world because you are for some reason offended by religion? Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, who was a really good guy, and you would know that if you would take the time to read the most widely published book of all time, which incidently is also one of the oldest. You don't have to believe in God to have respect. Go rot in PC California with all your pseudo-liberal yuppy pretentious ***** friends while the rest of the world enjoys breathing fresh air that you'll never smell because you have your head up your own ass.
It's dickweeds like you that made America hate the Democratic party and elect George Bush. - chicbicyclist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No.
- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Liberal Mac fanboys?
*shudders* - b3mus3d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looking at your comments on this article, you're not in a position to call anybody immature...
- dagamer34, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2You can't enjoy something that doesn't have any decent games and are silly ports of games that look, play, and have better online on the Xbox 360 anyway.
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nonono. Wii Sports: Calvinball Edition!
- PlaidPhantom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sabin: like that guy who set himself and a Christmas tree on fire as a political statement?
