- mattcoady, on 10/16/2007, -2/+66Please people, actually buy this one.
- daeyeth, on 10/15/2007, -3/+41Tim Schafer is the Jack Black of the gaming industry. Jack Black is the Tim Schafer of Hollywood. Tim Schafer plus Jack Black equals....Jack Schafer...? A commercial real estate professional from Florida...?
- 3rnesto, on 10/14/2007, -7/+28It will have good reviews but nobody will buy it.
- Rotzooi, on 10/15/2007, -0/+18Dugg for actually having Googled Jack Schafer.
- ryllharu, on 10/16/2007, -1/+18"When [Eddie] plays a face melting guitar solo, it actually melts faces," Schafer relays.
DUGG and MUST BUY. - XandraX, on 10/16/2007, -0/+16Every time Schafer comes up with a new idea for a game, I fall in man-love all over again.
Just wish he'd make a full blown adventure game again instead of these action-adventures. His dialogue is his greatest gift. - Hinph, on 10/14/2007, -6/+20It's kind of sad in a way. The only way a talented game designer like Tim Schafer can get a publisher is by making a game starring Jack Black.
- Karmashock, on 10/14/2007, -0/+11And the Gaming Gods did smile upon their people and there was much rejoicing.
- Thater, on 10/14/2007, -2/+10Welcome to the future
- Sabretou, on 10/14/2007, -1/+9You know it's going to be another Tim Schafer masterpiece when you have an umlaut in its title.
- steveoco, on 10/15/2007, -1/+7Cable Guy? The most underrated movie EVER! It has such a deep and twisted plot, not to mention Jim's most diabolical character of his career.
- Giggy, on 10/14/2007, -0/+6That's not an option for Tim Schafer, it's entirely up to LucasArts. Regardless, it won't happen anytime soon.
- Rotzooi, on 10/15/2007, -2/+8I haven't played a computer game (apart from Solitaire) in over 15 years, but this looks AWESOME!
- PacoDG, on 10/14/2007, -0/+5Scans of the article are up. Enjoy your weekend folks.
- Millsee, on 10/14/2007, -1/+6A marriage made in heaven.
- LusikkaMage, on 10/15/2007, -1/+6I can't wait to get the magazine. >D~ I love Tim Schafer.
- numlok, on 10/16/2007, -0/+5Go Doublefine! http://www.doublefine.com
- stupergenius, on 10/14/2007, -0/+5It doesn't really "star" Jack Black, he just happens to be the voice actor for the main character.
- Rotzooi, on 10/15/2007, -2/+6Thank you, I'm very happy to be here, it looks like a great place.
- wageslaven, on 10/15/2007, -0/+4Here's a start: Like what you like, and stop judging other people.
- grifta67, on 10/13/2007, -1/+4Whee I can't wait!
I did however have to re-read that description 3 times before I could understand that wacky grammar... - cptn_cardboard, on 10/15/2007, -0/+3In the future you can eat a sausage on a stick thats wrapped in a chocolate pancake.
oh, brave new world, that has such people in it. - Vinterblod, on 10/13/2007, -0/+3Guitar solos that actually melt peoples faces off? Hell yeah! This is definitely going to rock your socks off!
- cmiller1, on 10/13/2007, -0/+2Yeah, when I think of Maureen I think of two things: asphalt and trouble.
- gk128, on 10/15/2007, -0/+2Tim Schafer = Win
This game sounds amazing. Need demo now. - daizaru, on 10/13/2007, -0/+2I hope this will be tasteful, Tim Schafer is amazing and I have loved pretty much every game to come out of that mind. Jack Black, my fondness for has been in a bit of a downward spiral. He's certainly talented, just when I listen to anything Tenacious D lately with it's crude humor it just doesn't have the same effect it did on me when I was 15. I always thought they could do so much more if they would finally find something other then "*****" to rhyme with "rock".
I'm excited for this game, I just hope it doesn't go too far in a Tenacious D style humor direction. - UglyShirts, on 10/16/2007, -1/+3It is criminal...CRIMINAL that Psychonauts, one of the best games (if not THE best) of the last 15 years, only sold 90,000 copies. NINETY-*****-THOUSAND. We keep saying as gamers that we value fun, deep gameplay, genuine originality, and awesome visuals. Then a phenomenal, mind-blowing game like Psychonauts tanks, while the latest fricking "Madden" sells eleventy-billion copies. Oooh...You can SEE the mesh in their JERSEYS. So ***** what?!? Pull your heads out of your asses and support Doublefine! Support Tim Schaefer! Buy this game when it comes out, or it could realistically be his last! Hell, I was worried Psychonauts was his swan song. I'm glad we get another game out of him at ALL, much less one that looks this blindingly ***** awesome.
Now, if we can just draft legislation that could force Lorne Lanning to get off of his stupid ass and ***** finish the Oddworld quintology, I could die happy. - acdcfanbill, on 10/15/2007, -1/+2So... Yahtzee's review of the 'bad bits' ought to be short then? :P
- NoQuarter, on 10/13/2007, -2/+3He's been in plenty of piss-poor movie cash-in games.
- MrNexus, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1I loved Grim Fandango but I think the adventure genre is dead. Grim Fandango was one of the last great ones.
- acdcfanbill, on 10/18/2007, -3/+4Well at least it should help get the average mongoloid halo loving twitch shooter interested, and if it has good gameplay (of course, its Schafer) maybe it will sell a lot of copies :)
- ZorboMan, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1High Fidelity.
Enough said. - lidong, on 10/13/2007, -1/+2I love Tim Schafer and his games! His masterpieces are kind of expressionism.
If he could work with another Tim , Tim Burton rather than Jack Black.... that will be fabulous - Apokalyptik, on 10/14/2007, -1/+2Amazing. I have precious few heroes in this world, and many of them stem from the gaming industry. Kojima, Miyamoto, Blezenski...
...but at the top of my list will always be Schafer. I knew I was a changed boy when I first played Monkey Island on my dad's Tandy orange screened laptop. lol - Godmil, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1I'm sure it's an ironic use of the umlaut ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_metal_umlaut )
But then I think Tim can do no wrong. - Tippis, on 10/13/2007, -0/+1...particularly around these parts, where those diacritic marks hold meaning and simply make the name look stupid. >_<
The word "brutal" exists in quite a few languages -- the word Brütal (which would be pronounced "brytal") does not.
Same mistake as Trojan did back in the day: they changed o to ö to look special, which turned their name into "Tröjan", which is the Swedish word for "the sweater", giving everyone the image that they were some kind of hippie band ;D - Synthesize, on 10/13/2007, -0/+1I haven't played Psychonauts, but I have heard great things about it and it's too bad it didn't sell well. Let's hope this does well as it sounds promising.
- etnlIcarus, on 10/13/2007, -0/+1This news just made my day. I don't really care one way or the other about Jack Black but I've been waiting on an announcement from Double Fine Productions for months. If I have to buy a new console just to play this, I will.
- acdcfanbill, on 10/18/2007, -1/+2Thanks for helping to make my point, I really appreciate it. ^_^
- JudgeMonkey, on 10/13/2007, -0/+1Funny, the incident that changed my life forever also involved a monkey. My therapist said I shouldn't mention it publicly though.
- JudgeMonkey, on 10/13/2007, -0/+1I love the crap out of Halo. I bought the legendary edition and did the whole waiting outside the store thing. having said that, I loved Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle, etc... a lot too. Great way to be prejudice.
- Puppetfunk, on 10/14/2007, -2/+3Tim Burton was cool until he became the idol to all emos. They ruined Nightmare! I loved that movie! But now I can't love it anymore or I'm an emo! WHY!?
- spooky07, on 10/14/2007, -0/+1I wonder if brutal legend has themes such as humor in it?
- cptn_cardboard, on 10/14/2007, -1/+2dugg for mongoloid.
- AwesomeMonster, on 10/14/2007, -1/+1a boy can dream can't he?
- kidcodea, on 10/13/2007, -1/+1grimfandango#1
- hollowex, on 10/14/2007, -2/+2Psst... I was making fun. They are both talented.
- KatanaLlama, on 10/15/2007, -0/+0Tim Schafer ROX! I loved psychonauts so much i played through it multiple times. its my favorite game of all time.
- ericrous, on 10/16/2007, -1/+1No, please don't! Every time you buy something involving Jack Black, you're postponing the day when that overrated hack disappears from entertainment forever. Seriously, not since Keanu Reeves has such a mediocre, unremarkable talent managed to stay so long past the point when everyone should have awakened to the fact that he sucks donkey balls. DON'T ENCOURAGE HIM!
- Avalonis, on 10/13/2007, -1/+1Oh crap! It says PS3 / XBOX 360 only. Hope Tim has a change of heart and releases it on the PC as well.
