- doshindude, on 10/27/2007, -2/+407Nintendo supported the NES till now?????????? Why haven't I known this????
- ChromaVita, on 10/27/2007, -1/+352In other news: Nintendo sees a 2300% peak in broken NES's being sent in for repair after digg users realize they are still supported until the 31st. Numerous repair techs dead after blowing in nearly 10,000 cartridge slots.
- NeoOfTheSith, on 10/22/2007, -2/+196Wow, if I had known they still supported the NES I would have sent my old one in... :(
- rednaxela825, on 10/22/2007, -0/+185i think the real shock is that they still supported it. news to me.
- TinFoil209, on 10/22/2007, -0/+146NES Tech Support; *10/11/07*
Caller: "I'm trying to play Mario Brothers on the NES and just get this pure red screen. What can I do?"
Tech: "Remove the cartridge and do three really hard blows. Then re insert."
Caller: "Ok.... Great! The game is all pixel-ated and repeating the intro.. Now what?"
Tech: "Pull it out again and do two quick blows. Then wave up and down like a Polaroid picture!"
Caller: "Works! Your a savior!!! I hope you guys never stop this help!" - esteve, on 10/22/2007, -0/+106Greedy pigs, they want to force all of us to buy their shiny new console... the SNES.
- NeoOfTheSith, on 10/19/2007, -2/+95I pray to God that you aren't serious...
- keozen, on 10/22/2007, -3/+77And as we lay thee down to rest,
I thank thee NES for thy test,
thy mario and donky kong,
they made my eyes bleed less than pong.
And as ye sail into the sun,
We thank ye, the old number one - otatop, on 10/22/2007, -0/+53This is Nintendo of Japan dropping support for the Famicom. I believe NOA dropped NES support in 2003.
- zizzy, on 10/19/2007, -0/+49You know there's a reply button for a reason...
- RxDaniel, on 10/22/2007, -0/+49*****, my NES just got red ring of death.
- CyberInferno, on 10/19/2007, -3/+51This is the ultimate in irony. You insult a guy for setting himself up, he then gets (currently) +84 diggs whereas you get nailed with -41. I love this site.
And don't even pretend you knew that Nintendo still supported the NES. - MarkOfTheDead, on 10/19/2007, -1/+46Yeah he's an idiot for not knowing nintendo still supports hardware they made 22 years ago. Ass.
- PFinn, on 10/22/2007, -2/+46/holds glass in the air/ The king is dead. Long live the king.
- backoff34, on 10/19/2007, -4/+48I sat and reminisced on those days with my NES, playing and beating Super Mario 3 for the first time WITHOUT those pussy whistles. Good times those were... None of the ***** consoles these days (which I own many of) will ever be remembered like the NES.
- Iwantawii, on 10/28/2007, -1/+45Just blow in the cardridge, it's self repairing
- jimmick, on 10/19/2007, -1/+42Ah well, etleast we get guilt free ROMs now
- Acqua206, on 10/19/2007, -0/+38You have to simultaneously hold down the reset button and power button, stick in the cartridge, insert another cartridge on top of the cartridge to hold it down and do the rain dance.
- andrewcsayer, on 10/22/2007, -1/+36As long as my Commodore 64 is still supported by Commodore International, I can live.
- rivalius13, on 10/22/2007, -0/+32I just know the second they stop supporting it mine will stop working.
- Hazardc, on 10/19/2007, -0/+30im 25
i got a NES for my 5th birthday, and played the crap out of it for years
so yes, 20's works. - squeaker, on 10/19/2007, -9/+39A.) You're an idiot.
B.) Serious or not, you're blocked.
C.) Neither Sony nor Nintendo revolutionized the gaming industry--Atari nearly-singlehandedly created it, before they got lost their minds and decided to make crappy computers instead of consoles. - Tenlow, on 10/19/2007, -2/+32Also sony was contracted by nintendo to make the psx. Meaning Nintendo is to thank for the playstation.
- munkyxtc, on 10/19/2007, -0/+28Besides your comment being completely accurate; I find it even more amazing that days before the modern internet we all managed to find the same solution to get our games working again via word of mouth or trial and error. Man, I miss 1987 sometimes.
- badassninja, on 10/19/2007, -0/+28You would sell your NES?.... have you no soul man?
- vault, on 10/19/2007, -0/+27Crazy it's been 22 years, but RIP.
- j3rm1981, on 10/19/2007, -1/+26Me: I've got a really old NES, and it's got that standard blinking screen problem every time I stick a cart into it. I've heard that replacing the 72-pin connector inside can often solve this issue and was wondering if I could order one from you. Is there any chance you stock this part?
Nintendo: Absolutely, sir. We can get one sent out to you in the mail today. What's your address?
Me: Really? Wow! Um...(insert address here)...what's the um...what's the cost of the connector?
Nintendo: Oh, no charge sir. You're planning on doing the repairs yourself, right?
Me: Um, yeah...is that a problem?
Nintendo: Not at all, sir.
Me: Surely there's a shipping cost or something?
Nintendo: No sir...you'll have your connector in about 2-3 business days. Is there anything else I can help you with?
Me: Yes...can you adopt me?
Nintendo: You wouldn't believe how often Nintendo gets asked that, sir. Have a super day! - cmorwhat, on 10/22/2007, -1/+25on off on off on off on off on off blow blow on off on off on off blow blow....*****....try the alcohol.....on off on off.... man those were the good ol days
- nullcodes, on 10/19/2007, -1/+24*****, Nintendo no longer supports NES? No more bug fixes or security updates? Dammit .. I guess there must still be free community based online support on forums?
I hooked up my NES to the TV .. but it seems pictures' Vertical sync is screwed up. Other TV channels and the VCR picture look,s ok. How do I fix this. Is there some setting?
Any suggestions appreciated .. thanks! - audaciousgenre, on 10/19/2007, -0/+22did you seriously just type all of that for the sole purpose of rebutting "you *****"?
- Bobbler, on 10/19/2007, -0/+20Well considering as its not the 31st yet you still can. So now you have no excuse at all
- fkr3, on 10/19/2007, -1/+21Why? You missing the earlier versions of dos?
- eihwaz, on 10/19/2007, -0/+20We really need The Angry Nintendo Nerd to do some kind of special episode about this.
- WernerCD, on 10/19/2007, -3/+22Apparently... the zingers on you. Hope your not allergic.
- CDRaff, on 10/19/2007, -0/+19Supporting and making parts for are two different things.
- ACrazyGerman, on 10/19/2007, -0/+18Can't forget you gotta wiggle that game around once it's in there only way to get paperboy working.
- Elranzer, on 10/19/2007, -2/+19Atari did not create the videogame industry. There were consoles before the Atari 2600. What you *can* give Atari credit for is nearly single-handedly destroying the videogame industry (see: ET the Game and Pac-Man). Nintendo came with the NES and single-handedly saved the industry and gave birth to the most influential videogames of all time.
- keozen, on 10/19/2007, -0/+17I'm 24 and I was an NES-aholic
- SuperCow1127, on 10/19/2007, -0/+17*sniff*
- inactive, on 10/19/2007, -0/+17dont' forget stuffing 2 cartgridges in (one to hold the other in place)
- squeaker, on 10/19/2007, -0/+16Wrong-o. I'm 26, and spent far too much of my childhood playing NES.
- f0rr3st, on 10/19/2007, -0/+15it's a cross between a strawberry shortcake and a glass bottom boat.
- Elranzer, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1525 here. Yep, played the NES since I was three. Basically blammed on Duck Hunt till I was able to understand the mechanics of Super Mario Bros.
- PFinn, on 10/19/2007, -0/+14im 22 and i had a NES when i was about 6, i loved that system. I remember going to a used video game store when i was 9 or 10 to sell my nes and all my games because i wanted some other stupid toy, and only getting around $18 for everything. Getting money felt great, but then a couple days later i really missed my nes and couldnt afford to buy another one. It was almost as sad as when my dog died.
- wattznext, on 10/19/2007, -0/+14Man, those are the two dirtiest comments i've ever read
- thomasprebble, on 10/19/2007, -3/+17What a ***** troll!
- melonhedd, on 10/19/2007, -2/+16what is a pussy whistle
- YamiJim, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1324 here, we got one when my little brother was born to keep us from thinking we were replaced, i never noticed/cared too busy with Mario/Commando/duck hunt. And blades of steel! First Hockey Game where you could fight, classic. i still fire up the emulators to get insanely frustrated at how hard games used to be, lol.
RIP Buddy you pwnd Atari and commodores asses (intellivision too). - zyklon, on 10/18/2007, -0/+13I wish they would just stay under their bridges.
- BearinG, on 10/19/2007, -1/+13That's why you're in the negative
