- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16My apologies for not stating before, but I wrote the article. In the past hour I have been frantically trying to get the word out on the site (which launched 45 minutes ago), so I didn't put too much thought into the digg. Now I feel like a total ass...
Thank you everybody for reading the article though. Christian and myself have put in an insane amount of work into thetanooki in the past 3 weeks in preparation of today, so it's a pretty crazy day for me. In the future I hope to actually get people going to the site so I don't have to resort to my own embarrassing digging :P - MrSidnet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15"Some of the choices are obvious, while some might be considered quite odd."
Gotta love how Mr. Alfpogs here, our submitter, was sure to cover all his bases saying that some are good choices and some are bad. Especially since he was probably the one that wrote the article. Looking at his profile, he has never submitted anything to digg or even dugg a single article.
Dude, dont be a wimp. Admit to writing the article, and say it rocks. Yea, you might get flamed, yes it might not make it to front page, but at least you stood up for something you believed in.
Oh, and congrats to Matt and Christian for opening your Nintendo fansite, thetanooki.com.
By the way, good article, some games I haven't heard of, but it would be nice to post or at least link to some screen shots or something. - jggr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Ahhh... You guys are gonna make me cry.
*Group hug* - frigginchris, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8haha bob ross painting. awesome.
- October, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Yup! The Wii control system BEGS for a good golf game! And don't give me that panga-anime-magic-pokemon-golf crap either.
The golf included with Wii Sports is some of the best golfing you can do without leaving the living room and while I'm not a big fan of the Tiger Woods series of games I will certainly buy it if that is all there is to choose from (using the Wii remote to swing, of course).
That said I really WAS looking forward to the Bob Ross painting game. My wife and I are both old enough to have some funny memories (flashbacks?) of the Bob Ross "Joy of Painting" show and thought that one would definately be a big hit in our household. Same with the Cooking one. Looks cool. - MrSidnet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Your comment made me smile.
You're not a total ass, just there on Digg, we dont take spamming and self promotion very lightly. I dont know why exactly, but i think it's because of the amount of people that spam and self promote. They send in tons of submitions to digg, hoping to get site traffic and money for the adds. The point of Digg is to "digg" around on the internet, and find the best articles on the internet. If you look at the profile here http://digg.com/users/krystalriggs/news/dugg you'll see that this person has about 10 pages worth of links they submitted to digg. Not because he or she thought they were "great games" but because he/she was shamelessly self promoting the site (a site which allowed about 5 minutes of free play, then forcing you to register to be able to play). Basically, I unfairly lumped you in with the ***** of digg, even though you probably arent.
Best of luck to your site Matt, I'll be sure to bookmark it myself, and check it out in the coming days.
~MrSidnet - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Thanks for the good wishes! I definitely am not the spamming type, and you will see that for the rest of my time around Digg. Digg is a great way to generate traffic to a site, but not if the only people digging are the webmasters. It defeats the purpose of the site and is just lame. I was just a bit excited today during the launch, but now the excitement has worn off. So now it's time to go back to working on additional content that people will hopefully "digg" in the future :)
- jedioniram, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The site is pretty nice, but I was under the impression that the Bob Ross games for the Wii and DS were basically put on hold forever, and most likely will not come out. If that has changed though I'd be happy - the game looked like a simple, good time.
- NiteTrip, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I agree, bob ross painting would get my money!
- Quix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"I'm going to be honest, those "top 7 games" he choose were bad."
I have to agree that Sadness doesn't belong on any "top games" list, period - not until enough actually materializes to qualify it as an actual game-in-the-making. For now this thing is pure vaporware. The video trailers on the Nibris website aren't even active anymore.
I'll be surprised if this ever actually becomes a real game at all, and I'll be even more surprised if it becomes a real game and doesn't completely suck.
Then again, I'm always a big fan of pleasant surprises... - m.sandstorm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Grats on launching the new site and much luck to ya in the future. As for the article, I liked it for the most part but was kinda disappointed that Battalion Wars 2 wasn't added. Other than that it was all good.
- DiggDagger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1*edit*
oops, i replied in the wrong topic. Digg this down. - reclusivemonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think he meant "Victorian". Unless Vicrotian is some time in the future where our Vicrot overlords rule supreme...
- PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It is coming still http://www.destructoid.com/bob-ross-rises-from-the-grave-to-bring-wii-game-28444.phtml
- TDR25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why Smash Brothers isn't at Num.1 or at least 2 is very surprising to me...but hey, I didn't make the list, so.
- tastethevenom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Aha, good job MrSidnet. Keeping with your advocation of honesty... I'm not digging this article out of appreciation, but out of lust... for more truly immersive games to justify the cost of this console. And just the TITLE of the article alone inspires me to... wait longer on my ass for the killer selection that has been only a mere fantasy through this point.
- PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sadness looks fantastic, Im surprised there is so much negativity from people, it really seems like a great idea for a game (taking elements from Eternal Darkness, mixed with a lot of originality).
About Bob Ross game: http://www.digg.com/gaming_news/Bob_Ross_Painting_for_Wii_NOT_DEAD - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm going to be honest, those "top 7 games" he choose were bad. I agree with like 3 of them the other 5...WTF? 2007 has awesome games, not those.
- deadlikeoscar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For those that don't think Sadness exists, there is a trailer still up at IGN and 13 pics of the game. The last picture was added in August but that doesn't mean it was canceled. Looks like a promising title for the Wii. (the black and white is kind of cool as well) I'm not saying it WILL be released for sure but I haven't came across anything that says it was canceled. The site I looked at is here: http://wii.ign.com/objects/816/816122.html
edit: Just saw it won't be out until 4th quarter 07 - Anvilman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Yeah I wasnt too thrilled with the article, in fact few of the games sounded all that appealing, although that is unlikely to be the fault of the games themselves (although Wii Cooking sounds retarded anyway you describe it).
- VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21) What the hell kind of name is The Bigs for a baseball game?
2) I love how some people are still convinced that Sadness will ever see the light of day. IT DOESN'T EXIST, PEOPLE. - teamparadox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I am slightly interest in Brawl. I had SSBM and i enjoyed it but not for months and months like some people...a few weeks and i was over it. Im sure ill buy it but its not a game i NEED to own. Zelda and Metroid are Wii games that I need to own.
- ch28kid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1OMG
Cooking Mama is going to be really fun! I can't wait... - jggr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I /will/ digg you up, 'cause I agree with you.
- xSEED, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0star wars game for wii = pure and uber pwnage
- sirjimbob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Pretty sure Bob Ross is canceled.
- BenSerwa, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I /will/ digg you down, because you aren't interested in Brawl by that logic.
- billmccartney, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I just have one thing to say.... MARIO PARTY!!!
- countjedula, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@ VeganG
What makes you think that Sadness will never be made? - baddog121390, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Those are some pretty ***** games.
- kiiwii, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Unfortunately for Bob Ross: Joy of Painting, it's not in production anymore...
http://www.gamespot.com/news/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=25205086 - NsaneNoob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Mario.....CLASSIC
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Ummm, I edited my last post and changed from 2 to 3 games I agree with. And I forgot to change "the 5 other games" to 4 other games... now I look like I suck at math. LOL
- thxv45, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0In the Sadness description; what's "Vicrotian"?
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1No WarioWare? The game may come out next week, but it's still in 2007.
I hope Mario Galaxy turns out to be good. "Mario in space" sounds fun for maybe the first stage or two, but not the WHOLE game. If we're lucky, the space theme acts as a sorta world map or "Peach's Castle" between different worlds like a desert world, water world, etc. We did the "whole game has one theme" once before with Super Mario Sunshine and its every-stage-is-tropical motif.. - teamparadox, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5Im sorry but that list is pretty lame. I've had my Wii since launch, waited all night in the cold for it, bought Zelda and so far thats all I've enjoyed. I've rented every game from gamefly and I liked Elebits but not enough to buy.
The only game on that list that interests me is Metroid and maybe Mario. I hope this isnt what we really have to look forward to in the coming year, im all for new gameplay ideas but these all sound pretty stupid.
I am prepared to be dugg down..you may begin. - canewediggit, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5inaccurate- no tiger woods pga tour which (if done well in terms of swing representation) will be a monster
- westyvw, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0Might be a better site if it was standards compliant. Nope. You might want to fix that. I get a banner and thats it. Are you doing browser detection? Bad idea.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2How about 7 games that no one would be caught playing?
- Mewchu11, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0I'm not digging it because there's no warioware on there.
I'm burying it because all indications show that sadness will be one of the worst games to be released over the span of the Wii's life. - monkeycatDx, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Have the ever heard of Top 10?
