- chingy1788, on 12/11/2007, -22/+129Super Mario Galaxy is pretty crap, according to Sony Paid Reviewers
- AwesomeMonster, on 12/11/2007, -3/+57When you have that big of a control over the market you become a crap magnet. Look at the ps2 and gameboy color, for every good game there is at least 12 crappy ones.
- darkchild82, on 12/11/2007, -5/+54wuh ? someone actually made a game on Little Britain ?! and yes, the Wii (especially) a lot of trash this year !
- JohnDavis730, on 12/11/2007, -6/+50and yet, nintendo is swimming in bills
- charlescheese, on 12/11/2007, -3/+40It's sad really. A lot of unsuspecting people are buying a LOT of really bad games for the Wii this holiday season. Hopefully they have the brains to pick up Mario, but I'm guessing there will be a lot kids with a lot of bad games asking WTF on December 26th.
- benitojuarez, on 12/11/2007, -2/+29Thats the one thing I hate about the DS, sure its got some great games but goddamn they release some complete and utter crap on it. The sad thing is people buy the ***** games.
- Mrstupid7, on 12/11/2007, -1/+25It's the danger of being the popular system, or do you look at the PS2's library with rose tinted coke bottles?
- Tunguska, on 12/11/2007, -5/+29Playstation says no
- aquadoctorbob, on 12/11/2007, -0/+21This is how you commit Digg suicide.
- Syraxis, on 12/11/2007, -3/+23A review that bashes SMG and praises Ratchet and Clank, and makes unfair comparisons of the two in R&C's favor seems like a Sony paid review to me.
- zizzy, on 12/11/2007, -2/+20What about John Deere: Harvest in the Heartland:

- salmonmoose, on 12/11/2007, -3/+20Remember the Wii has a terrible attach rate, people are buying it for Wii Sports and leaving it there.
- jayfarer, on 12/11/2007, -1/+17The problem is that the developers are lazy/incompetent when it comes to utilizing the DS & Wii controllers. You can't just make a normal game and then throw in some weird, superfluous touch screen functionality.
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -0/+15Yeah, I understand the concept of attach rate. It's how many games you sell per console.
- SteelFrog, on 12/11/2007, -1/+15So what you're saying is, it's a kick-ass game, but sometimes the camera angle can be quirky when you're flowing around in 360 degrees, upside-down and flying all over the place? Sounds horrible.
They didn't give Galaxy a 9.7 because "Hey! It's mario!". Take a look at Luigi's Mansion or Mario Sunshine; I won't go as far as saying they were both failures, but they tried something different and it didn't catch on. This time, they got the formula right and gave gamers what they wanted, so of course we're going to give them good reviews, it's what we had been waiting for. I'll agree with you on the score however, 9.7 seems too high. It feels more like a solid 9.0 since there are some clipping, glitches and camera problems. - kufu91, on 12/11/2007, -0/+13metroid?
- doctordbx, on 12/11/2007, -0/+13Oh come on... portal is fantastic. I hope you're being sarcastic, or maybe you just haven't played it.
- wetard57, on 12/11/2007, -3/+15final fantasy III on the DS was a beautiful game it is fully 3D showing what the DS can really do i just wish there where more games that took advantage of the power of the hand held
- Hickeroar, on 12/11/2007, -1/+11it scored in the 60s on average. Their highest game here is in the 30s...

- Ventolin, on 12/11/2007, -0/+8Kinda surprised Hellgate isn't on there. But seriously, that list kinda blew. It's just some pics of game boxes followed by a comment that barely registers as a sentence.
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -1/+9Battle Amphibians, ***** yeah!
- Timmyftw, on 12/11/2007, -0/+8I made sure to skim the comments to find the ***** who wanted assasins creed in the list and here you are.
- chris9902, on 12/11/2007, -0/+8how did these game score 30%?
The way people review games is so ***** broken. - inactive, on 12/11/2007, -0/+7The Shield review was pretty funny, at least.
"If you keep killing enemies, your heat level will go up. If it fills up all the way, the game ends. Since Mackey's a cop, he's apparently not supposed to be going around on killing sprees, even though that's exactly what the game has you do. To bring down the heat meter, Mackey can arrest enemies after shooting them until they surrender (that doesn't make sense to us either), punching them a bunch of times, or grabbing them then punching them a bunch of times. After throwing them to the ground and slapping on cuffs, Mackey's heat meter cap is then freed up so he can kill at least another five to six people without worry. For those keeping track at home, that means one arrest legitimizes five to six kills." - Hickeroar, on 12/11/2007, -5/+12Yeah stores are already bombarded with racks upon racks of $10 terrible reject games for Wii that barely made it out the gate. That's the danger of an "everyones" system.
- Pxtl, on 12/11/2007, -0/+7How about the entire Game Factory DS line? So many companies are cranking out crappy assembly-line games that I weep for any kid whose mom goes and buys him a gift based on looking at the boxes.
- Pxtl, on 12/11/2007, -2/+9Not that they'll have a lot of choice - most companies are foisting $600+ bundles onto poor customers, and most of those bundles will contain the sort of unplayable crap that makes this article.
Looking at the list, too bad the Acme game sucked - it sounded like a fun concept, and Space Race was pretty good. Article was kinda disappointing in that the reasons _why_ the games sucked was pretty much left to other reviewers. This article was one step away from being an auto-generated script. - cheeseron, on 12/11/2007, -5/+12no lair?
- Grimdotdotdot, on 12/11/2007, -2/+8FYI - You're wrong.
- nicko68, on 12/11/2007, -2/+8What's next, a 20 button controller?
- nicko68, on 12/11/2007, -0/+6There were classic games released on much less powerful hardware. Too much technology can also be used as a crutch (beautiful eye-catching graphics, but boring, shallow, or already-been-done gameplay)
- saifatlast, on 12/11/2007, -1/+7I feel compelled to mention that although they're awash in a sea of crap (which is pretty typical), there have been a whole bunch of excellent games released this year. I don't think anyone could say it's been a bad year for gaming at all. (not that anyone seems to be saying that)
- CharlesSaint, on 12/11/2007, -14/+20Ok, I have to chime in here and just throw in my two cents. I have my copy of SMG sitting right in front of me and after spending considerable time on it (beat it and got most of the extras), yes it is arguably the best Mario game out there, but I think that's saying less and less as time goes on.
When Mario 64 came out it set the bar for 3D gaming, but a major complaint was that damn Lakitu never seemed to ever give you a proper angle. Fast forward some 11 years later and you find Nintendo still can't figure out how to work camera angles. Most of the difficulty (and there isn't much in Mario games) comes as follows: take a really easy task (jump from A to B or walk from A to B on a balance beam-like surface) and give you a ***** camera angle either by making sure you can't see in front of you, or making you do something diagonally. If the user would be able have free control of the camera, it would alleviate a lot of my complaints.
Yeah, I read the reviews and I had a great time playing the game, but that said, the experience faded quite quickly, and having to constantly stay on the ship made the game feel a lot less galaxy-like. A simple change of scenery would have been nice, instead of having the same rooms with different colors (observatories). Overall, giving it something like a 9.7 ( http://wii.ign.com/articles/833/833298p1.html ), on the same level as games like Mass Effect (9.4) and Bio-Shock (9.7) is saying too much IMO. Yeah, I know those games are like comparing apples and oranges as far as game genres, but saying something is really good "for a Mario game" says about as much as saying "you're good, for a girl". It's time to stop letting Mario tee off from the red, and have him step back to the pro tees like the rest of the field. - spawnfree, on 12/11/2007, -2/+8Lair may have been crippled by stupid control decisions but at least it took longer than 2 months to code.
I doubt everything on this list even saw that much attention. - dronkmunk, on 12/11/2007, -1/+7Are you daft?

Destination Software, Inc. - Ndiggnation, on 12/11/2007, -13/+18Look at the upcoming release list, it doesn't look much better..
- rwscold, on 12/11/2007, -2/+7I'd say 1 out of 50 games made are even half way decent.
- Murdats, on 12/11/2007, -1/+6are you kidding? my problem with the ds are there are too many games wanting to take my limited time and money.
- lennybird, on 12/11/2007, -2/+7It was a good year for game systems (PC included). Orange box, bioshock, crysis, world in conflict, Opposing Fronts, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, Halo 3... Just to name a few. I have never seen so many 9.0+'s on gamespot at one time. It wouldn't surprise me if no good games came out for a while, now that all (by all I mean most) of the major devs have released their game and will take at least six months to release an expansion pack; that's if they make one.
- skyfire1, on 12/11/2007, -2/+7It was mediocre.
- NightStryke, on 12/11/2007, -0/+5Didn’t the flood of poor quality games lead to the videogame market crash in the early 80's? Not saying it's that bad yet, but I think Nintendo should go back to having 'seal of quality' to help keep the crud in check. (And this time only put the seal on games that are high quality, the old quality seal had nothing to do with game quality)
- CharlesSaint, on 12/11/2007, -1/+6Wow, note to self never to buy anything from DSI Games. They have three out of ten on that list, and all of them are in the top five. Deal Or No Deal? Come on!
- renagadex2, on 12/11/2007, -0/+5Stop saying that.
