- mywhitenoise, on 12/13/2007, -8/+45Heavenly Sword. It's not a horrible game, but not worth the $60, I only have mine because I got it for $20.
- jdoe562, on 12/13/2007, -4/+38Halo 3 isn't a bad game, I mean it's not buggy and it's pretty fun to play. It's just WAY overhyped.
- kriegs, on 12/13/2007, -34/+64Halo3
- makemeweak, on 12/13/2007, -2/+28What makes them think Two Worlds had a big budget?
- bdub92, on 12/13/2007, -1/+24Did anyone really have that high of expectations for Two Worlds?
- cristz, on 12/13/2007, -4/+24I thought Kane & Lynch would have been a big hit.. unfortunately its not... waste of money :(
- inactive, on 12/13/2007, -4/+22Two Worlds has been removed after further research. Lair now takes the crown.
- Sornos, on 12/13/2007, -6/+22A little unfair, isn't it? By no measure is Halo 3 a "worst game" of 2007. Fanboyism aside, it still a very good game.
- DemonSpawn77, on 12/13/2007, -1/+17Tony Hawk number 10 000 is on there? I'm so shocked!
- quiznos, on 12/13/2007, -0/+15slowness.. mirror: http://tinyurl.com/2ha3uf
edit: it ended up loading, bury me if this isn't needed. - chayashida, on 12/13/2007, -0/+14It's the party mini-game sequel, not the original game.
- inactive, on 12/13/2007, -3/+16Yea, because all the worst games of 07 break presales and sales records for 170 mil on the first day on shelves...
- TailDrag, on 12/13/2007, -1/+14Most of them are multi-platform.
- imbob, on 12/13/2007, -1/+13LAIR was fun for the first 10 m/ts then you look at your wallet with such disappointment
- AwesomeMonster, on 12/13/2007, -2/+14Mario party isn't on any top ten list I've seen and the last game in the series got some pretty bad reviews. Thats the only party game i can think of that you'd be talking about.
- staticneuron, on 12/13/2007, -1/+12All but one are multiplatform titles..... just maybe... that was done on purpose so people like you can say something that idiotic.
- exomni, on 12/13/2007, -0/+11This thread is useless if they don't list the game's budgets.
I highly doubt most of those were "big budget" games. I know for a fact many of them listed were just rushed shovel-ware. - mrfreeziexp, on 12/13/2007, -4/+15dugg for kane and lynch.
- dansmeek, on 12/13/2007, -3/+13blacksite: area51, kane & lynch, bladestorm, and jericho are all available for 360. i know the author tries to make it sound like the ps3 is the home of all these games by showing the ps3 box package on these (and not the xbox360, except when the game is only available for it)... likely since the majority of people from digg hate the ps3, but after reading stupid comments of people saying "hmm... lots of ps3 games, figures." i figured i'd let you all know.
the only ps3 exclusive on that list is lair (which I believe we all expected)
ironically, lair and viva pinata (i never played) i've both heard good things about. just that they didn't meat expectations. and i have no idea if any of these are big budget other than lair, viva (duh since it was a Rare game), and Kane & Lynch (which I assume because of insane advertising).
I also would have liked the authors opinion on why these games sucked, or atleast more than a single "sound-byte" quote from a source.
but overall an above average list. - inactive, on 12/13/2007, -3/+11Bioshock was even more over-hyped...at least to PC gamers.
- adwarereport, on 12/13/2007, -2/+10Halo 3 rocked. It beat my expectations and it has huge replay value. I'd give it an 8.
Surprisingly fun game of the year: Beautiful Katamari ... - snugglebear, on 12/13/2007, -1/+9Viva Pinata and Pokemon are BIG BUDGET now? Haaaaa.
- xsidekick409, on 12/13/2007, -0/+8While i see the point that AC isn't a great game, its still certainly an enjoyable game. That is, if you enjoy sneaking around and killing silently. If you are playing solely for the storyline and trying to beat it, its incredibly linear. But if you take your time and run around every once, and kill just for the fun of it, its pretty entertaining.
Certainly the game is very dull if you kill the main bosses with a sword, the key is trying to approach them without them noticing. The game should have punished you for not sneaking in, then it would have been more challenging. - kcfreels, on 12/13/2007, -0/+6You don't appreciate how hard it is to make computer graphics look "dirty," I mean really dirty. Everything in rapture looked mildewed and water damaged. I completely disagree with your logic. I did find the game too short and lacking in good replay value though.
- KungFuJesus, on 12/13/2007, -4/+10plenty of crap movies dominate the box office, games are no different.
fanboyism aside, however, halo 3 is by no means a crap game. Good game but people overhype it - Hellman109, on 12/13/2007, -0/+5Bladestorm I actually enjoy allot. But then again the idea of the Dynasty warriors series was always good, just not quite there. Bladestorm can get boring after a bit but then Ill use a different type of troop and have fun with that.
- dansmeek, on 12/13/2007, -2/+7i really liked heavenly sword. i guess i bought it, I had no idea whether it was good or not, if it was hyped, or even if it got good reviews. i had also never played god of war (which i just got a few days ago).
anyway, great graphics and fun gameplay. when i first got the ps3, i got that game along with ninja gaiden. gaiden got great reviews as opposed to heavenly, but i thought HS was slightly better. since NG seemed like a PS2 game with a high framerate and updated textures. it was hard (and fun) but not a 9.6 or whatever reviews gave it. and HS was better than the 7.0-7.5 reviews gave it.
i wish it had been more polished though. - AmazingAndrex, on 12/13/2007, -0/+5Didn't load for me, thanks for the link.
- PedleZelnip, on 12/13/2007, -0/+5Because upgrading hardware every few months to play a game just isn't fun. Neither is having inconsistent framerates because the devs of the game like Nvidia better than ATI (or vice-versa). Neither is troubleshooting driver conflicts. etc etc etc.
- thebellmaster1x, on 12/13/2007, -0/+5Look out, here comes the GameSpot police.
- clarkec321, on 12/13/2007, -0/+5This has been turned into a 360 vs ps3 debate. just shut up, most of the games are cross platform, god knows why the writer chose images of ps3 boxes unless they're a fanboy themselves.
Lair wasn't the worst game of the year, it just failed to live up to expectations (like Assassin's)... anyone who says otherwise hasn't brought and played the game, they're just spreading blog hype - skyfire1, on 12/13/2007, -0/+5I did. :(
- johnnliu, on 12/13/2007, -0/+4I didn't think the sequel was 'big budget'. Wonder how much was spent.
- MrTito, on 12/13/2007, -1/+5Why do people keep digging "Top 10" crap from this blog-spam site?
- gmprunner, on 12/13/2007, -2/+6Everyone knows you buy Halo for the multiplayer, not the campaign.
- xXGeechXx, on 12/13/2007, -0/+3When was the last crap game you saw dominate game sales? Im not taking what you consider to be crap either but I cant remeber ever seeing a crappy game dominate game sells with the exception of that karoake game for PS2 or something.
- inactive, on 12/13/2007, -1/+4They are also all (but one) 360 titles. And there is more than 1 360-only titles listed, which would make 360 the worse offender of the 2.
- zdiggler, on 12/13/2007, -2/+5I tried Kane/Lynch I didn't even get pass the across the street part, I gave up and never looked back. Control really suck, especially after I just played hours of COD4 and Crysis.
- sp00nz, on 12/13/2007, -1/+4I liked Kane and Lynch. The endings were terrible and the plot went to hell later in havana but man some of the levels were pretty fun. Prison busts, Bank Robberies, Kidnapping. It was pretty damn fun.
- johnnliu, on 12/13/2007, -0/+3I think Viva Pinata was stuck in a bit of a limbo - it was trying to be a game both children and adult could enjoy. I think this identity confusion made it difficult for many people to buy it, even though it had really good reviews.
Viva Pinata: Party Animals was developed to target the children's game genre, you probably don't find it as much fun as the original because you aren't a "typical kiddy" (the target audience) :-) - smackhero, on 12/13/2007, -1/+4that's what happens when the marketing budget exceeds the cost of development.
- MillionsLivio, on 12/13/2007, -0/+3As a huge Clive Barker fan, Jericho was a major let down.
- PedleZelnip, on 12/13/2007, -0/+3The guys who made the original Viva Pinata didn't change the game into a kiddy party game. It was Rare who developed VP, and Krome Studios did VPPA. Two different dev studios, two different games.
- AntidoteSqrd, on 12/13/2007, -0/+3Ah I see, I don't see that qualifying as big budget though...
- shadowpr0ph3t, on 12/13/2007, -1/+3The single player was decent and the multiplayer is really solid. Overall it's a really fun and enjoyable game.
- inactive, on 12/13/2007, -0/+2But Bioshock delivered waaaaay more than AC
- shadowpr0ph3t, on 12/13/2007, -3/+5So it's a big waste of money basically.
- DeepSkyDiver, on 12/13/2007, -1/+3Crysis and Half Life 2's latest episode this year. As far as I played BS the weaponry was very lacking in any sense of tactile reward (best exemplified by something like Quake's rail gun). Over the years I can't remember a big title having such lifeless and insipid graphics. But the lighting in particular is awful - and I accept both that I'm in the minority and more heavily biased to the 'look' of a game than most.
- akatsuki, on 12/13/2007, -1/+3No Blue Dragon? That game was ridiculously boring. Harry Potter: OOP was crap too.
- DeepSkyDiver, on 12/13/2007, -0/+2It is hard, you're right - but it was a poor job. Gritty doesn't mean draining the definition out and flattening the colours. I know it's not a widespread opinion, but I was very disappointed.
