- ksgant, on 09/18/2009, -2/+23And only like 4 Customer Service Reps to cover all the servers.
But I jest... - Homerr, on 09/18/2009, -3/+20"But can it run Crysis?" seems so passé now.
"Can it host WoW?" may be the new question. - jokerslayer, on 09/18/2009, -4/+20And in three days you'll be playing WoW again.
- Mossman85, on 09/18/2009, -0/+10How many hours of music is 1.3 petabytes, Steve?
- Mujokan, on 09/18/2009, -0/+8Apparently the hamster is brown and white, and likes cucumbers.
- KZodron, on 09/18/2009, -0/+8God damnit, did the Gamasutra guy have to put "some" in front of every single number?
- wisedude, on 09/18/2009, -1/+9Why was it linked to the ***** blog summarizing the real story?
- magamiako, on 09/18/2009, -1/+9If they didn't have to answer questions related to: "How do I do X quest?" or "Can you kill someone for me?" or the huge rants involving class balance, or other equally retarded things--there would be more reps to go around.
- dshPls, on 09/18/2009, -1/+8I don't play either but this is interesting technology...
- Malarie, on 09/18/2009, -0/+7I would so like to know more stats about Wow.. I am ex player, (never played TBC)
But I am curious aboutthe folliwng:
* What OS is running everything?
* How many server does it takes to run a realm (specs too)
* How many time Boss X and Y have been killed?
* How many people have been killed by boss X and Y?
* How Many Gold in circulation?
How many dark iron was mined? etc.. - lilrabbit129, on 09/18/2009, -0/+6I hope everyone that says "It can't be that hard to keep the maintenance within the window" reads this.
- bigp3rm, on 09/18/2009, -0/+3I still hate maintenance.
- KirbyMorph, on 09/18/2009, -2/+5Nice blog spam instead of linking to the actual article. http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?st ... for the actual article on the numbers instead of cherry picked quotes.
- inactive, on 09/18/2009, -0/+3I'm sure the logs are there somewhere.
- inactive, on 09/18/2009, -0/+3wat
- Valyn, on 09/18/2009, -0/+2Years back i remember they talked about a couple stats like that. I only remember one of them though. The thing that killed the most players: "Cat"
As in the Hunter pet. - coldshuts, on 09/19/2009, -0/+2So nearly 2 centuries.
http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&safe=off& ... - IvenomI, on 09/18/2009, -0/+2a lot.
- inactive, on 09/18/2009, -0/+2I don't believe that's anywhere near the real question.
- ravedigger, on 09/18/2009, -2/+4I think that roughly 9 million people would disagree with you.
- penholder, on 09/18/2009, -0/+1I don't know why- but I can tell you by whom...

Source: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_people_play_Wor ... - Thuktun, on 09/18/2009, -0/+1Or rather, not surprising how many active users they have to support and keep from complaining about server downtime. Other than scheduled upgrades, I've never seen server downtime on the WoW servers I've used.
The fact that they're raking in money is because it's necessary to pay for that infrastructure, the infrastructure doesn't spring up because they've got lots of cash lying around. - ahac, on 09/19/2009, -0/+1Some stats for last days are here:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/toplist/
http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/gamestats/index. ... - xino, on 09/18/2009, -0/+1penholder is being dugg down because he is implying that World of Warcraft users are virgins. There are people that lost their virginity and play World of Warcraft.
- inactive, on 09/19/2009, -0/+1its Digg users that are mostly virgins, my friend got married because of World of Warcraft and has 2 kids now
- FredFredrickson, on 09/18/2009, -1/+2Does my ret pally count if he does prot part-time?
- xino, on 09/18/2009, -0/+1I am thinking more like 11 million. I am assuming you're talking about the number of World of Warcraft subscribers.
- Rell812, on 09/18/2009, -0/+1no, tanks are universally loved.
- spacebuddy, on 09/18/2009, -6/+5Screw WOW, in two days will be playing AION.
- indyGuy, on 09/18/2009, -5/+3No huge surprise considering how much money they're raking in every month
- ShiftyBizniss, on 09/18/2009, -5/+216,062,881 hours. Based on 86.9MB / 1 hour of music.
http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=1.3+petaby ... - kylere, on 09/18/2009, -6/+1Ooo sweet the world of warcraft losers showed up to digg me down, go ahead!
- penholder, on 09/18/2009, -7/+2Okay, okay, I see a lot of numbers, representing a lot of users. But can someone tell me the equation to show exactly how many virgins that is?
- djnforce9, on 09/18/2009, -6/+0With all those NPC's, spells, etc, one has to wonder how it's been emulated as well as it already is on applications like Mangos and Arcemu. Must be hard for those developers to keep up because Blizzard keeps updating and expanding the game.
- Rell812, on 09/18/2009, -13/+5But the real question here: How many asshat Ret Pallies are there?
- kylere, on 09/18/2009, -17/+3WoW is SOOOO kanye
- quixand, on 09/18/2009, -22/+6And the number one question is:
Why do we care? ***** WoW.

What is Digg?
