- danielgilbert, on 10/12/2007, -11/+129haha, 360 lappy. You may as well just market it as an oven.
- StarManta, on 10/12/2007, -6/+81"7 inches is just too small to be practical."
O RLY? - azrael13666, on 10/12/2007, -2/+52thats what she said!
- sacherjj, on 10/12/2007, -4/+42I don't. How can you play a game that involves standing away from the screen and moving, when your screen is 7"?
- FakeFakerson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32/me waits for a picture of the wiimote thrown through the wii laptop's screen
- wild, on 10/12/2007, -6/+32Its not financially responsible, but when is someone going to make one of these console laptops with a 17inch powerbook? That size screen would actually make it worth it.
7 inches is just too small to be practical.
[edit- sorry for comment inaccuracy, didnt mean to reply up here] - 98acura, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27The 'will it blend' comments will stop, when people start blending the objects.. If we already know, we dont have to ask..
- uberdesigner, on 10/12/2007, -3/+28He should go work for Sony. They need his help.
- doubleyoube, on 10/12/2007, -11/+31Not quite the same challenge as the 360 lappy but still freaking awesome nonetheless.
- rockforever, on 10/12/2007, -8/+28Ugly? To Small?? I think that thing was a work of art! As for to small... it scales with the external ports for A/V and the sensor bar. This thing is great considering you can play your old VC games or smash bros on the go!
- ModernTenshi, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24Can we stop with the, "will it blend," comments? It's rather old, and driven way too far into the ground at this point.

No, Wii's on a plane! - wounded625, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10or in a box with a fox
- Braingoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Its great and all but what is a laptop without a battery. Still very cool though.
- Nitro187, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8What a lot of people are forgetting, the wii plays gamecube games as well... which would make this an extremely portable gamecube as well.
Oh wait.... only ONE gamecube controller port? And NO memory slots? what the hell..... - AssProphet, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12It was funny to listen to him "trash talking" the npc character. I lost it when he wrapped it up by saying.. I guess I've shown you enough of my leet skillz.
What a dork. - RogerT1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7For shame, he's not using the safety strap. He might throw the remote through the screen.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9I love how he just throws the gamecube game
- patFX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7i logged in to digg you down, moron.
- Vampire, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6OK maybe a crazy question, but how did he not have that annoying warning at start up that makes you press A?
- rockforever, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Who says you have to? The Wii can play other games too.
- Tatsumaki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Bonus points for the Commodore 64 manual off to the side.
- TrueVox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6But will it run Linux?
_>
*runs* - scabbers, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Without battery power, this mod is completely ***** pointless.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sbU4sSlu7I - bigstinky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I for one would love to see one of these made by Nintendo...Kinda like a giant DS. It would have to have at least a 17" screen though. Imagine a Nintendo i-book. The lines for something like that would be ridiculous, especially if served with a tasty price point.
- airship, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Even better, it's not just the C64 manual, it's the "Commodore 64 Programmer's Reference Manual", which cost extra buck$. I've still got one on the shelf.
- MobbyG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah, I thought was was kinda cool too! C=64 rocks!

You know what? I _am_ a Wii owner. I like the Wii and I've been playing it quite a bit. I'm also someone who likes to take his ***** apart and apply them elswhere. I believe they're called hackers, but I don't think of myself as one.... Which probably makes me one.
But I digress, I like the Wii a lot. I also like most of Ben's work as well. I have a lot of respect for him. However, I agree with you on this. WTF is this crap? What kind of design choice is a 7" screen? Why didn't Ben at least hit up eBay and get one of the scads of 15"+ replacement screens floating around there? Why didn't anybody donate a bigger screen? And what's with the rest of the design choices. ie only one GCN port and no GCN memory slot (unless I've missed it)? The Wii is a beautiful simple and elegant design and Ben mashes it up to make it look more industrial? Bleh.
djdole brings up a really good point, Ben should've waited and finished the "how-to" before posting this. Then we'd have a better idea of the design choices Ben made. But until then, I'll wait for the Wii Laptop 2. - scrimaxinc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@sacherjj
By making use of the A/V outputs. I doubt you'll be playing a lot of the games that require a lot of room in the car/bus/plane/etc. Now you have options....
....I think its pretty freakin amazing. - kevinmoore, on 06/13/2009, -1/+3Yeah, it's just horrible on my 32" television. No, wait a minute, it's a blast.
- donnikhan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Whats the point? I think that playing the wii on a tiny screen is lame, its really meant to be played on a big screen.
- sleepwalkers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No, that is the point. I understand that it's fun to just tinker with ***** and do what you can with it, but what the hell is the point of the Wii laptop (or the 360 laptop) if you CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU.
There's no point in making it portable with a screen if you can't use it without a power brick, where you'll more than likely be in a spot where there's a large TV to connect it to. - gardnmi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Wow I get to play the Wii on a tiny ass screen. GREAT!.....
- XISUPERMANIX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Was this dude reading a script? "Yeah, you're going down down this time" "Yeah, that's what I am talking about" anyone else hear the excitement in his voice?
- Tatsumaki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There's an edit between him releasing the power button on the Wiimote and the Wii menu appearing. You can see his hand magically jump forward a couple of inches.
- mcfly1204, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This just looks low rent.
- kylemech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I _still_ just wish that I could get a Wii at all :(
- orangekid13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2he's not wearing the wrist strap... i want to see the video of him taking out the screen by letting the wiimote fly...
- darkrabbi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1monitor = way too small
- mjordan4343, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I hate it when ***** *sigh*
- mattman561, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this is the Biggest joke ever lol rofl
how do u play Wii games on that screen!?!?1 - Rummey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ya'll need to wake up, I play on a 24" flatscreen TV and its great.
- charlescheese, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It looks totally useless, but it's very cool nonetheless!
- Dhalgren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Did he put a 360 power supply in that thing? It was pretty noisy...
- Zuggy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3The main thing to remember about the wii laptop, it's not about whether or not it's practical. It's about the fact that it can be done. Plus it would be really fun with Linux on it
- KillerLettuce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That would give me a headache to try to figure out how to build.
- kirakun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not too sure how well the concept of swinging the control that is the Wiimote works with a laptop that requires you to be physically close in order to see the tiny screen well. In the video, I was waiting for him to smack that Wii-laptop across the room.
