      Now I'm not really anything. I have this tendency to not care about the games most people care about though. GTA 4? psssh. Rainbow Six Vegas 2? Nah. Ooh, House of the Dead came out for Wii? Swwweeet. Order me a Soul Calibur 4 and whatever the next MX vs whatever the hell is coming out too :D

      Oh, I have a new one. The game collector. I still have everything I've ever had, and I have a bunch of 360/Wii games that I've barely started. This happens far too often.

      Hopefully the end of the semester will change things. /Stupid College

I don't really have too much of a problem with console gamers its just that they have tried to rip of the PC with all the FPS games and never done as good of a job. Now that thats where the money is not as many developers will develop great PC games. Its just not what I think a console was designed to do, I have a Wii and have a lot of fun playing mini games and such with friends but there are not many games suited for that anymore.

They are mostly encountered in pc games due to the typing. It is hard to act this special kind of retarded while using your actual voice.

But the only reason they didn't put two of these on the same page or all on one is so you get extra page views and ad displays. You already have to scroll, so it's not to keep the page length short. Their internal ads on the left crawl way past the content length, so they didn't do it to fit in with their layout. They did it for page views.

            Fundamentals of web design my ass. One fundamental is to not ***** off your readers.

You will automatically go to page 2. In the firefox gestures, you have to have visited the page before the forward gesture will work.

            If there is a page 2 of XXXX, opera will find it, no matter where you are with the forward gesture, even without visiting.

        Anyhow, I don't inately hate consoles, but the 360 has a lot to hate about it. Red Ring of Death? Lack of USB-controls you find on PS3? Paying for your online access constantly, and being nickel and dimed constantly? ( Last time I checked, most good PC games are 30%-50% off the price of the 360 version. ) Why would I go through this type of pain? PS3 doesn't look half bad, but the games aren't there yet. I don't make direct comparisons with the Wii, as it seems like a different beast altogether.

A lot of the market is made up of people who want that kind of ease. I personally would rather hook my computer up to my TV rather than buy a whole other computer (console) but that's just me.

You might get a low-end HTPC for that, but you'll have to spend half again as much to give it a decent video card - and that's assuming the power supply can handle it (a highly unsafe assumption.)         Of course, you need a computer anyway, so it's stupid to appraise the cost of computer gaming from the ground up (rather like wrapping the HDTV and entertainment center in a console's price)

        Oh, and you are absolutely smoking crack if you think *any* console is a HTPC with a crappy graphics card - those things are basically graphics cards with a few other bits attached. They have to optimize in a lot of ways to make them as fast as PCs (if they were as fast in general, they'd cost as much.) One of those ways is making them incredibly graphics-heavy. The actual CPUs are usually surprisingly weak.

One is the HD3850 which costs $130 (a far cry from $300) and actually performs great on 720p, it makes little sense to spare $300 for sth that's not even twice as good as the $130 card (it's at most 1 and a half as fast). Second is the e2160 CPU which costs $70 and can be o'ced w/t special hardware to around 3GHz which is more than enough. And third is the lanbox of thermaltake, which is a $70 tower that is hardly bigger than X360 (it takes about the same room). All those components costs you $270 and you already have half the HTPC ready.

          No, you don't need $1000 for a decent HTPC from $600 onwards the law of decreasing returns kicks in and the more you give, the less you get (think it like the difference between a $20000 car and a $100000 one, the later is hardly 5 times as good), in other words you'll get around $200 worth of hardware with those last $400 which would enable you to jump from $600 to $1000. In fact that exactly was my point on why consoles are not needed ANYMORE, PCs are a lot cheaper than the 90s where there was a clear niche for consoles to fill in, it's not there anymore (again, that's my point), there's only customer inertia these days against which my rant was directed.

I'm talking about counter-strike in this case but I'm sure it's not much different with other games. I had to pay to travel to Texas from the EU to go to CPL while some girl team, who were terrible and came 73rd out of 75 teams (the other 2 probably being first time players from Texas) got the travel there for free. Thats what I consider to be unfair.

      When girls can compete with males in professional level competition and not just get walked on, then they should get these opportunities. They will also get a lot more respect this way too, imo.

    Also, they forgot the pirate gamer, who sits on his ass all day warezing and has +10 machines which serve as some kind of server (he knows ALL operating systems by heart.. yes, even freeBSD) , this gamer never actually plays a game, he simply downloads them and lets them sit on his HDD, however the pirate gamer probably has a girlfriend.. somewhere over IRC ... :P
