- meshman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+54It helps when the game names aren't stupid in the first place.
- TalkingBanana, on 10/11/2007, -2/+35Pokeyman FTW
- psevium, on 10/11/2007, -10/+43Well I've always pronounced it as Deuce-Ex
- degamad, on 10/11/2007, -0/+29I use to work at an EB and had some guy come in asking for Residential Evil.

Well, that's all I remember from my days as a game store clerk. - Zipko, on 10/11/2007, -1/+23As a caveman with a Masters in Speech Pathology I find this summary highly offensive
- Phil13, on 10/11/2007, -3/+25Dugg for Deus Ex. The number of times I've heard it referred to as "Day of Sex" is unbelievable, even seen parents get all up in arms about their own mispronunciation.
What makes it even funnier to me is the box art has the correct pronunciation right inside the flap, at least on the Mac version anyway. Either way, "Day of Sex" sounds like a great game to play. - bhowell, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21Here they all are, minus the commentary:
Faxanadu
Correct pronunciation: "Fah zan ah doo"

Incorrect pronunciations: Where to even begin?
Pokémon
Correct pronunciation: "Pokay mon"
Incorrect pronunciation: "Pookimun" "Pokemans" "Pokeyman" "Pokuhmoon" - Witchboy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18For Deus Ex (day-us ex), we heard so many funny variants during development and afterward it stopped being funny. Kids would twist up their faces and say, uncomfortably, "Douche X." Or "day of sex," "deuce ex," etc.
For a while, near the end, we considered changing the name to Illuminati Assassin (deemed too negative) or Majestic 12 (deemed too likely to make people think it was the 12th game in the series). - Jwoey, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17Yeah, its amazing how many people don't know it was actually "Seck - Ret" of Mana!
- andrewry, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17For PoPoLoCrois, it's pronounced /poh-poh-loh-kwoi/, but in a French accent. I wasn't sure how to spell the pronunciation, but I think that works fine.
- KyotoWolf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15Well I always went by the pronunciation of Deus Ex Machina but apparently it doesnt apply here
"Deh-oose ex ma-kee-nah"
But the guy says it's wrong so... - Frecklefoot, on 10/11/2007, -2/+17The top 6 games you've never heard of... and one overused franchise.
- boonecafe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14that site has the worst navigation
- DenTPuzz, on 10/11/2007, -3/+16They missed one. I still mispronounce 'daikatana' as piece of crap game
- DJCult, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14I prounounced it day-os ex. I remember trying to buy the game, and people were like "Sir, we do NOT carry titles like Day Of Sex." God that game is incredible.
- mrfreeziexp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9... arcooke is a dumb name.. >:(
- shlemielo, on 10/11/2007, -5/+13How is Ninja Gaiden not there? It's guy-den, not gay-den. And Ryu is ree-oo, not RYE-oo.
- unusualbob, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Well the main problem is that most of those no one has ever heard of so they just read the titles phonetically.
- kmadigan, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10These top lists are getting a bit ridiculous
- Ramble, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10It's pronounced day-us ex.
And what is with this stupid comment system. The comment box isn't in focus automatically. - SirBotchness, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11i couldn't care less about 6 of those. Apparently the title was the best part of the games.
- Ninjab3ar, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8I used to pronounce it as "Do Sex" (Same thing pretty much) when i was in middle school. As a matter of fact, all my friends used to say it like that.
I found out the correct pronunciation after a friend corrected me, he was laughing his ass off, though. - ngmcs8203, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6You mean you mispronounce it intentionally and your friend pronounces it correctly?
- spyrochaete, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6It's actually pronounce day-oos (rhymes with juice) ex
- tonicboy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Herzog Zwei anybody?
- AndrewJC, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Well, it's a matter of semantics. The guy says it's "Day-S", which I'm assuming he means is supposed to be "Day-Ess" but without stress on the second syllable. The proper pronunciation is something along the lines of "Day-oos" with accent all on the first syllable. You're as correct as he is.
- spyrochaete, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5What about Katamari Damacy? I have no clue how to say it properly. In the soundtracks they pronounce it like 3 different ways...
dah-mah-see
da-ma-shee
DAH-maSEE
Anyone know the proper pronunciation? - LiquidChimera, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5My favorite as a game clerk was always: Omi-mushi (Onimusha) and there were many other variants.
- sych0, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Minus seven individual pages too. Why they can't all be on one page is beyond me. Thanks.
- ChronicColonic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5There is a television show broadcasting in the Caribbean about a gay Jamaican...it's call "Poke Me Mon".
- anonymous6237, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Except in Latin "De" is pronounced "Day"
- tylerjames, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5you spelled Ikaruga wrong
- jasepower, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfULvnWVAv8&NR
- SurrealDream, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5For clarification, is Lumines pronounced "Loo-mines" or "Loo-minn-ess"?
- trentasaurus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Never heard of Pokemon?
- misfitpanda, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6I blame Bill Cosby for the pokemon misinterpretation....yet I Love him for it.
"Pokeyman?! Pokeyman with the pokey and the man and the thing where the guy comes out of the thing, and he likes to fall out of that whrr ah ah ah!"
Ah..Classic - DreamVsPs2, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Developers should not use stupid names for games. Problem solved.
- specialK16, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6"Day of Sex"
haha, pure ownage. - Optimaximal, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4...with the pokey and the man...
- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4With the pokey and the mon and the...
- Matri, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3What about Driv3r?
- spudnic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Shame the sequel sucked ass.
I'd vote that one of the most disappointing games ever, I had such high hopes after the original - AngryVoklav, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Well, then you'd be wrong.
- FortyCaliber, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4It's pronounced >day-oos ex< Like from Deus Ex Machina, a literay device used to drastically affect the climax and resolution of a story without intervention from Major characters (though they may be involved.) It is very commonly found in shows like "Lost" or "X-Files"
- juicebag, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3LET ME SHOW U MAI POGEYMANS
- skoles, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3We used to pronounce it "Dude Sex" as a joke.
- popltree2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I always thought it was pronounced "Meaty-ohs"
- HalFTW, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Cretin.
