- das7282, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15The demo is available in Steam too. (FYI)
- Travis182, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13I played the 360 demo and the game is absolutely amazing. Too much trouble to get on the PC as well, but ENJOY! :D
- mattatarms1507, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Only if you want to play the high school film strip version of the game
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11I have an E6600, 2 GB Ram, and an 8800 GTS and it runs perfect without ANY lag. Short Demo, but it was great. Better then expected. Awesome game...except you need around 500$ worth of PC upgrades to support it. But hey, its 2007...what do you expect...this aint no Windows ME.
- gonpost, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13You need a nvidia 6600 or radeon 1300 series or better to play the game (SM 3.0 essentially), just as a heads up.
- OJXs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Getting 500-700kbps on STEAM, will have it soon, can't wait for the slideshow...
- yohan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9You're supposed to play the game with 512MB of RAM on your GRAPHICS CARD! Ha!
- das7282, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9weels? Is that a new measure of time?
- hammersuit, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7getting 1.4MB/sec from gamedaily, no line/no reg http://www.gamedaily.com
- psg188, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Steam bitches!
- louiedog, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7If only there was a way you could try the game out for free and see for yourself...
- CaseyUCF, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6cry more. i have a core2duo 6400, 2 gig RAM, x1800xt 512 MB everything on high and i get 20-30 frames consistently.
- dpratt, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6It looks like there's a major bug present in both the Xbox and PC versions of BioShock dealing with setting the FOV in widescreen resolutions. Basically, the game is doing the reverse of pan-and-scan - it's zooming into the 4:3 image to create an artificial 16:9 image. Anybody that is playing this game in a non-4:3 resolution on either PC or xbox is not seeing a bunch of the possible image.
Even though this is most likely the game I've been looking forward the most to for years, this basically kills the experience for me. I thought it seemed a little strange and had a 'zoomed in' perspective when I played it on my xbox - lo and behold, I was right. I was all set to buy this on Steam, but it looks like I'm going to have to hold off until this is either fixed or I get an explanation as to why the designers explicitly desire this horrendously broken behavior.

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1 GB Ram
ATI Radeon 9550
Game looks like this:

Sounds OK though. :^) - yohan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6This is why I upgrade my computer constantly ...
- indicas, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9can some explain what the hype around this game is? honest question.
- das7282, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I didn't preload so Steam says my download is 1.8GB.
- hammersuit, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5dude, sorry digg me down this isn't meant to be spam but i was getting 1.4mb no lines no reg on gamedaily.com (i work for them, made sure the servers were speedy as hell tonight ;) )
- skyfire1, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8This is why I sold my Wii and bought a 360.
- BostonLow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Plus I think the demo size is hell of a lot less if you've already preloaded the full version. (~500mb vs 1.8gb)
- Roger, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Yeah, 2 x 0 is still 0.
- Scrappy1850, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4it's a good game, so people talk about it.
- hammersuit, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5http://www.gamedaily.com/games/bioshock/pc/game-downloads/bioshock-demo/4903/7007/
at least use this one, gives them the page view... sites need to know that NO REG, NO LINES and speedy downloads are what users want - shadokast, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Well...When you scroll though the menu options a piano plays erree random notes.. that's why I'm buying it.
- aidanr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5torrent: http://www.gameupdates.org/details.php?file=BioShockPCDemo.zip
- Sedako, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3What? 7900s aren't capable of DX10 features either...
- desistere, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Ran great @ 1024 x 768 on:
Pentium D 805
Radeon X1600XT 512mb
1 GB DDR2-800
I liked the demo, but I don't think I'll buy it because I'm not a big First Person Shooter fan. I do recommend people download it and try it though. Even if you don't play many FPSes, check this game out. - OJXs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4that sucks but 16:10 works right? RIIGHT?
- indicas, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5yeah i get that but why is it kick ass. it looks like another run of the mill FPS with a few gimmicks. the ign screnshots look pretty weird.
is there anything cutting edge or what? i'm not trying to be an ass or anything - Shirt, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4This game runs perfectly on my computer, 1280x1024, everything on high and all effects on. Absolutely no hitches to speak of so far.
Specs:
AMD 64 X2 3800+
2GB DDR (PC3200 on dual channel)
Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB
This game is absolutely beautiful. As soon as my head poked out of the water (and even before that) I was amazed. And those Big Daddies ***** people up... drill arms FTW. - crummer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I ran it on my core 2 duo 6800 extreme, 8800gtx, 2 gig of ram, and it ran just fine at 1920x1200 with all the bells and whistles turned on. This game is absolutely great!
- themastersb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I hope my wireless will hold at 100kb/s
- yohan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3No, unfortunately, it requires SM 3.0.
- indicas, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5if only someone could provide cliffnotes and spare us from a 2gb download...
- mhirons, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Anyone running it on a Radeon X850XT? Will it even run?
- yohan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3It's different because it's immersive, something very hard to do in a game. Play it!!
- gcnaddict, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2don't forget the updated 163.44 drivers from nvidia if you have an nvidia card and are running on Vista. It doubled my frames, though I was barely running the game to begin with.
- RawOysters, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2From what I've read so far there is more of a storyline in this one and you are more involved in outcomes. The characters are not predictable. They also show emotions which draw you in.
- yohan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Why did you even bother... :)
- xBBx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3This is the announcement for the actual release of the demo, not some torrent.
- IndigoMoss, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2www.fraps.com
- Cykaos, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You have to be kidding me!! I have Microsoft Sysinternals running as my default task manager and the demo securerom whatever thing won't run until I disable it and reboot my computer!
- dpratt, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Nope. Same problem.
I've been looking forward to this game for over a year now, and it feels like somebody has punched me in the gut. - Roger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I'm stuck with a X850XT too, which probably could run it if it only had SM3 support.
- Nobiting, on 10/10/2007, -1/+37600GT runs it fine
- OJXs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Runs alright on high @ 1024 x 768 on:
Pentium 4, 3GHZ
X1600Pro
1GB DDR2
Looks amazing, everything on high, except my video card feels like its on fire, I can't even touch the heat sink
going down from high to medium is a huge ***** difference - faizal5k, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4direct download link directly from GameDaily
