It's rad your school outfitted the short bus with Wiis. - expertninja, on 10/12/2007, -5/+26Why does this get so much press? It's a strap. Plenty of things have them. Enough already, just stop swinging the remote around like an idiot and you'll be fine.
- Hindu_Wardrobe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Dugg for "doohickey".
- foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15@hardcorecomb
Did you RTFA?
Did you even LATFA? (Look at the ***** article) or even GATFA? (Glance at the ***** article) - Klowner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9How the heck did you break two straps? Are you swinging the wiimote around by the strap like a nunchuck or something?
- erasei, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I've had my Wii for nearly two weeks, and while I've only played Wii Sports, Rayman and Excite Truck, I've never once even come remotely (wiimotely?) close to dropping much less throwing the remote. In fact, my wife actually took the strap off of her remote completely because it was annoying.
I mean, if you have kids that's one thing.. and maybe there's a game or two I haven't played that requires you to drop it.. but if not.. I just don't get it. - JesusDeluxe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4i got my 2nd gen straps a few weeks ago and im really glad i skirted these things. Who cares if the new ones will lessen the chances of breaking my tv, I like the wii shaped plastic end. :P
- Zarxrax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Jeez, what kind of morons are playing the wii? I've had mine since launch, took off my strap, and have never once come close to throwing it, and never will.
I suppose some kinds of people just prefer a strap-on... - cody50, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Coolio? who says that?
- ivanxivann, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'm still using the stock strap that came with my Wii, and it's working out great.
Maybe its just that I don't chuck my Wiimote to make the Bowling Ball go faster. - MeltedUFO, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4^stop posting those conspiracy videos in the comments!!!!^
If you want digg to see them post in videos section NOT COMMENTS. - achoo5000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I got 4 of these, I would much rather have ones with the Nintendo and Wii logos, as well as the "chopped rectangle" shape. I'll just stick with my originals. My guess is they are making these because they're free and cheaper to make. Does anyone know if recent Wiimotes come with these new ones in the package?
- Vironex, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6People actually use the straps? I make my retarded friends use them, but I never do.
- Markpdotcom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3How come kotaku.com keeps getting stories on Digg? Its an awful website!
- ArveeOnFire, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4It's SD card shaped...
- insomniac8400, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Those aren't branded, odds are they are a 3rd party strap.
- velvet396, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I ordered replacements on Thursday of last week and got them in the mail today.
They are the "3rd party" straps, and while much uglier, I hate constantly re-tightening the original strap. - Hindu_Wardrobe, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Let's see who you'll be calling a retard once your TV breaks.
;) - Lord_oftheTrons, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I agree with that re-tightening annoyance. It is nice when you are passing around the wii-mote but a pain when you are playing by yourself.
- Magunwarrior, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Jesus, they should just send some super glue with the strap that will solve all this.
- computermatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1so i can order more then once?
- Vibratic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, my strap has been off my remote for quite some time now.
Even if I do fling it, which I have never done (besides Wii Sports, none of my games require flinging movements), my TV is pretty solid and probably won't crack. And I've seen remotes take a ton of abuse and still work fine. Nothing bad will happen when I'm playing it, and nothing bad with my friends either, because I trust all of them and they all have Wii's as well. - ACrazyGerman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If you are swinging the remote so hard and so much you should take a 5 minute break, because you hyperactive.
- Alesir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is the best Wii strap.
http://www.rsci.com/uploads/images/18/duct-tape.jpg - Sifl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have these. I didn't know they were the "new, new" straps. The additional resistance in the clasp is a noticeable effort to keep the Wiimote from going airborne.
- CubexDE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dang, they got rid of that cool Wii shape on the end. The new one is just a stupid rounded thing.
- abohling, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It looks a lot like the strap on the DS only thicker. The end part is the same shape.
- TyrannousDotNet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1always something to bitch about, huh?
- doyama, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Not to be a stickler here, but I've noticed a huge absence of any such injuries in Japan. I can't find even a single report of anyone in Japan remotely hurting themselves. Is this a phenomenon only in America? Considering the population, it certainly would seem that way.
- hazza18, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm still using the first strap they brought out but i don't smack the ball so hard on tennis that it flies off my wrist but when i play rayman raving rabbids it looks like i have an Epileptic fit.
- MikeyisaFag, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Haha, penis joke. :)
- spitcoff, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3i got a Wii on sunday and it came with the original straps
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I don't use them but if they are free again ill get 4 like i did before.
- blahtastic, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3No it's not...Try it again :)
Btw, I got replacements last week, they were second gen. Glad I didn't get the el-cheapo looking ones. - dillonish, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6Honestly, I don't care what they look like. We broke both of our straps in the first two weeks of play, and I love the new thicker, tighter straps.
It's all fun and games until someone loses a wiimote. - Nodren, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2@Hindu_Wardrobe:
yes because a total of 5 TV's have been broken by drunken idiots playing tennis, his tv will just magically break too.
seriously, its not hard to hold onto the wii mote, its not hard to play the games properly with out getting sore. its also quite easy to pay the games with out burning any caleries... it cracks me up how so many people think just because they are standing up and swinging their arms around they are somehow burning all this fat, and risking the condition of valuable appliances in their living rooms.
woohoo i've done my work, and squashed three stupid wii rumors. - rickytan, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I got mine yesterday (sunday) as well. It came with the strap pictured to the far right in the article like yours.
Fake? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2o yes, now they are back up
just digg these comments down like i know you want to - johntwoods, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1long live the original 8-bit NES... never heard people bitching and moaning about their vaginas breaking while playing it.
- aminom, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Next on Digg: News just in! Nintendo slightly changed the formulation of the plastic of the Wii case so it no longer has the very subtle marbelization of the plastic from variations in dye color! Old Wiis are collector's items!
*Rolleyes times ten.* - nbcivic, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0*launch wii mote at enemy's face*
oh srry my strap broke. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Well the image is down, coral didn't catche it, nor did google, and duggmirror didn't get the the image
- triscuitbiscuit, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Sure you got a real Wii?
- Mo0man, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1I think you mean the other was around trons
