- Heroin6, on 02/05/2009, -6/+23***** YEAH NO MORE HEROES 2 YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- HalsMyPal, on 02/05/2009, -2/+172009 might actually be a good year for Nintendo. Plus the rumor of a possible new Zelda in a year or two, the ongoing rumor of a new Kid Icarus, Dead Space is coming for the Wii later this year, and Tenchu just came out. I am actually looking forward to a lot of these.
- alphega, on 02/05/2009, -6/+17Call me old fashioned, but the only game that's really attracting me here is Punch Out.
- cyprianoman, on 02/05/2009, -4/+14Yes, I can even wait for Punch-Out that is going to be the best game in a pretty long time.
- Pxtl, on 02/05/2009, -0/+9Nintendo needs to do more digging in their NES catalog for casual party games. Ice Climber, Balloon Fight, Mario Bros with a nice modern glitz and more players would be fun over drinks.
- Dumbledorito, on 02/05/2009, -3/+10Note to developers: See how none of these are ports from the more powerful consoles? Stick to making games for the Wii hardware and we won't have any more "Dead Rising" or "Force Unleashed" crapfests. The Wii isn't built for that kind of thing, and there's nothing wrong with leaving those titles to the 360 and PS3.
- Ryanw430, on 02/05/2009, -4/+11Dude, I'm sick of all these anti-Nintendo gamers who complain about the limited game selection even though many of them bought a PS3/360 when those systems FIRST CAME OUT. In reality, the wii has just about as much third-party support as the 360 now. EA sports is finally giving the wii as much effort as it does the other consoles, and Ubisoft stepped it up with Shuan White Snowboarding. Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band 2 are the same game on the wii with slightly scaled-down graphics, and the same could even be said of the new Call of Duty. Oh, and don't forget Capcom--how many wii owners own Zack and Wiki? Very few, even though it's a great game. Resident Evil 4 is another underrated, and CHEAP title that comes to mind. SEGA has been on the wii's side from the start--where's House of the Dead Overkill on this list? And believe me, wiimotion plus WILL be huge--especially for tennis games, golf games, etc. 2009 will be a fantastic year for the wii, especially if Nintendo finally gives the console a price cut for this Christmas.
- Ashkc88, on 02/06/2009, -0/+6I enjoy the Wii as well. I play it just as much as my 360 and PS3. ( I play PC games the most, though )
Most games are 20 dollars, great Wiiware titles, some virtual console titles are cheaper than buying used carts, around 20 GOOD games in my library, and great customer support.
I think most people bash the Wii because they want to justify selling it, or not owning one. - Shaflugi, on 02/05/2009, -3/+9Why is it Nintendo's fault? Most of those games aren't even MADE by Nintendo.
IMO, I thought it was a pretty nice list. I'm particularly interested in Final Fantasy, Mad World, and The Conduit. - Renton, on 02/05/2009, -2/+7Vgcharts has a couple more games this list missed. http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=2811
Tenchu 4 just came out yesterday in North America with some promising reviews, and Deadly Creatures comes out in 5 days. - tommyhat, on 02/05/2009, -4/+9Play sin and punishment, you apes!
- lbcjim, on 02/05/2009, -1/+5i'm glad i get a new version of this article every month in case i forget.
- purzzzell, on 02/05/2009, -0/+4GET OUT.
Bury, report. - crjunk, on 02/05/2009, -0/+3Just a guess, but is the MotionPlus hardware coming out before June? When you search Amazon for MotionPlus, The Conduit shows up in the listings with a release date of June 9, 2009.
- dustinjr1993, on 02/05/2009, -0/+3i would defiantly love to play a new ice climbers game pxtl! oh yeah and will the kid icarus rumor ever die? its just im sick of every thing that happens they mention "instead of kid icarus, we got this...." but yeah retro games are cool and they should bring them back with style and not *****
- Splutterbug, on 02/05/2009, -2/+5As expected that's a pretty short list ;-)
No More Heroes 2
Madworld
Fatal Frame 4
Possibly The Conduit, and Punchout
That's pretty much all the action my wii will see this year, unless we see a new Zelda game....... - error2k2, on 02/05/2009, -1/+4Sin and Punishment 2 was just made for the Wiimote, speaking of which, I hope Pikmin 3 is released this year. Just tried the first Pikmin(never played it on the Gamecube) and it's very addictive.
- SteveMax, on 02/05/2009, -0/+3If their goal is profit and they already profit like crazy, why would they have to follow the gnomes' plan? And it's even more complex than the one for underpants, lots of intermediate steps!
- h0ly, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2I don't think they will ever allow a downloaded binary patch to take place while running a game.
They have enough security holes to deal with right now. - crowbarred, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2Mutter mumble how long do i have to wait .... Wii cricket
- ButchersBoy, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2thank f**k for you for saying that. I have 360, hi-end PC, and Wii. I love the Wii. Keep the Wii specialized games coming, and I'll play hardcore FPS on y PC and on my 360, well err...actually I'm looking forward to SFIV on that.
- YellowSnowDemon, on 02/05/2009, -2/+4Force Unleashed got better reviews on the Wii.
- WhereAmI, on 02/05/2009, -3/+5Mad World is the most anticipated game for the Wii by the gamer community, but not the Wii community since they're still playing Wii fit.
- KingGoonie, on 02/05/2009, -5/+7It has the highest first party attach rate... and a higher attach rate then the PS3... and 3 of the top 5 best selling games of 2008 were Wii games... Including Mario Kart taking the #1 spot...
So yea... keep going with that attach rate nonsense. - LostOverThere, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2*We're* fanboys? How ironic.
Also, if you actually read the list you'd know the there are tons of hardcore titles coming out this year. Go eat some rocks. - mr138, on 02/06/2009, -1/+3If you can't tell why people are digging you down, it's because you're an idiot.
- Pxtl, on 02/05/2009, -10/+11Wow. Apparently I need to buy a PS3 or something, because I'm not going to have anything to do once I finish playing Boom Blox. That list is friggin' weak. Punch out could be good, and Mad World looks cool... but most of those games (Mad World included) look like the same thing - a brawler/platformer involving franticly waving the wiimote as a sword or chainsaw or whatever. Button mashers with motion sensing.
- partypoker, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1I have not managed to get over WII sports yet! No mind mastering the Soccer... Playing the tennis seems to give me loads of aches and pains... Anyone else feeling this?
- Meocross, on 02/05/2009, -1/+2I can only imagine how pissed your sister would be if she happened to be in the way of your a Superpunch combo as she was passed by.
- Ashkc88, on 02/06/2009, -0/+1I second that revamp request of the original Mario Bros. Four players with new enemies, graphics, music, and level design would be awesome.
- doublsh0t, on 02/05/2009, -11/+12yawn
- ghall, on 02/05/2009, -4/+5Finally, some Wii games I can actually get excited about.
- NathanialBurrer, on 02/06/2009, -0/+1Sadly, No More Heroes 2 comes out in 2010.
- LostOverThere, on 02/06/2009, -0/+1Don't expect another Mario Game, historically speaking there's only ever been one per generation. Also, if history repeats itself, then we should get another Zelda by 2010.
- Akaziel, on 02/07/2009, -0/+1Gonna go ahead and disagree with you there sparky. The Wii has a LOT more games than the 360. The difference is, the 360 actually has more decent and well-thought out games. The Wii just has a ton of shovelware, like the bazillion Wii Sports clones, or the billions of party puzzle games, or Ubisoft's "Imagine" series, etc.
- aandreson, on 02/05/2009, -5/+6My guess is that many will be satisfied. Is that really so wrong? I think we have all learned that it's okay to have differing opinions. So just be happy with the games that you like to play! Cheers!
- SteveMax, on 02/05/2009, -1/+2I think lots of people (both "casual" and "hardcore gamers) have been waiting for a full boxing game on the Wii since they first tried it in Wii Sports. Punch-Out has the potential to please them; it's simple and something you remember from your childhood, it can be made more complex for advanced players, and they had almost three years to improve on the mechanics seen on Wii Sports. I'd say this is a much better idea than "Mario Party 25416548" or "Zelda for the new console".
- tacojohn48, on 02/06/2009, -3/+3Come to think of it the Wii itself could collect a lot of dust since you never need to touch it. I know my Wii gets a lot more playtime now that I have friends.
- antdude, on 02/06/2009, -2/+2BluRay?
- StormTroopr, on 02/06/2009, -1/+1Really? I seem to remember four for the Nintendo(five if you include SMB2 japan version).
- daridave, on 02/06/2009, -1/+1Actually, punch out is the ONLY game I'm looking forward to for Wii... and it makes me worry. That game looks fun but at the same time, umm... I hope they give it dept cuz if it's just some linear matches like the original game (since they're trying to make everything for grandma nowadays on the Wii), it's going to suck. I've been a Nintendo fan forever, but honestly I found 2008 boring for Wii and 2009 isn't looking any better. I'm not saying those games in that list don't look fun -- but I really don't have that "must play 1st day it comes out" feeling at all. :S Am I the only one feeling like this out there ???
- mattyboy555, on 02/06/2009, -1/+1Needs more Nintendo 64 VC titles :(
Wheres my Majoras Mask?? - mr138, on 02/06/2009, -1/+1Considering the 360 has a ***** more games released, it would seem the Wii has more games you like per capita.
- arock99, on 02/06/2009, -1/+1not much there...wheres the usual mario game or spinoff?
Looking forward to Klonoa fo the wii...it was an awesome game on the ps1
wii sports resort? Only for the fact that it will include a piece of hardware that will make the wii remote more sensitive - LostOverThere, on 02/06/2009, -1/+1Seriously, you must be sarcastic because this list is awesome.
- mr138, on 02/06/2009, -1/+1Dude you know Metal Gear and Final Fantasy are both like 20 year old IP's too right? There's plenty of other ancient IP's I bet you play and love also (Ninja Gaiden?). But I guess only old Nintendo IP's suck though huh...
- Elranzer, on 02/06/2009, -1/+1Each year has at least one major Nintendo first-party title. Our memories are so short. We complained about how bad a year 2008 was for the Wii, since we were spoiled with Super Smash Bros Brawl and Mario Kart Wii so early in the year, that the remainder of the year was disappointing (even though Wii Fit, also a 2008 release, was a huge seller).
Nintendo might have made a mistake releasing them too early, and too close to each other.
At least Wii Music is the last of Nintendo's planned Wii This-n-That series. Miyamoto can get back to work making a decent Mario and Zelda game (and not a spin-off party or crossbow training game, either). - js00343, on 05/07/2009, -0/+0looking for the best wii games? try this new torrent tracker!
