- techobo, on 10/20/2008, -3/+32I accidentally all the coins.
- RockinAmadeus, on 10/20/2008, -0/+27I don't recall anything about Mercenaries 2.
- joe7845, on 10/20/2008, -0/+25Or: Does OCD lead to kids playing video games obsessively?
- Roland1232, on 10/20/2008, -0/+20I played those games all the time, and I never had any problems.

7. Me too. - kevlar21, on 10/20/2008, -0/+13There was nothing. It was in the title and in an ad, but nowhere in the article.
- trixyfox, on 10/20/2008, -0/+12Someone else feels the same way about Pokemon I do.
But seriously, I need to catch them all. - inactive, on 10/20/2008, -0/+12Don't hold your breath for the, "Videogames cause dashing good looks and sex appeal" article.
- 8bitflu, on 10/20/2008, -0/+10I never played that version of Doom.
- albyliontk, on 10/19/2008, -1/+10dugg for Pac-Man fever and.... Mario!!!
- RMoore08, on 10/20/2008, -1/+10So video games lead to: obesity, violence, divorce, and now OCD?
Bull. - milkmit, on 10/20/2008, -0/+8I really think Tetris was created to prey on OCD people.
- AdeleMor, on 10/20/2008, -1/+9Hmmm. Blame the internet for OCD more than gaming!
- babyheadout, on 10/20/2008, -1/+9Then you have JRPG fans who attempt to get to LVL 99 without leaving the first area in Kingdom Hearts and FFVII
- Craftybadger, on 10/20/2008, -0/+7When I first looked at the title and description, I thought it said OGC instead of OCD;
"So, do video games really lead to OGC?"
Brilliant. - reddevild, on 10/20/2008, -0/+7Way to put Mercs 2 in the title then not mention it at all.
Side note about Mercs 2, it had so much potential, but too many glitches on the 360 version to make it worth playing through anymore, especially since it felt like they nerfed all of the weapons (i promptly booted up my ps2 just to have the gun actually feel more like im shooting something, i mean, come on, gunfire=subwoofer) - andoru, on 10/20/2008, -0/+7dugg for wanting to touch a fire flower exactly 140 times.
- evilesttoast, on 10/20/2008, -2/+9the whole coin?
- harharharhar, on 10/20/2008, -2/+9Dude Doom is responsible for so much OCD!
- bentrinh, on 10/20/2008, -0/+51up
- jonshipman, on 10/20/2008, -0/+4Honestly, sometimes I just love a game based on a movie/tv show. Something about a linear "do this until the game is over" is sometimes the right kind of medicine for anything.
Loved me some TMNT Turtles in Time. - KSUdesigner, on 10/20/2008, -0/+4I think you have OCD in regard to the English language.
- drzaeus, on 10/20/2008, -0/+4Q-Bert says "@!#?@!" this article.
- zeblith, on 10/20/2008, -0/+4Close: It's "always better" because it's only logical. This crap is hammered into anybody masochistic enough to get a degree in Stats. (I love pain.)
Correlation != Causation.
Showing correlation is easy, it just requires data.
Showing causation is difficult, it requires experimentation.
People will ALWAYS over-conclude.
Now go forth, and be skeptical! - Stregasusi, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3His new job, greeter at the Wal Mart.
- CoreyHalliwell, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3I think the brain can get addicted to the positive response that video games give and can cause an addiction. Also im sure the ritualistic movements in the game can influence how the player makes decisions while manipulating objects in real life. IE: tapping, touching, arranging.
- jehan60188, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3I guess "achievements" don't really help this issue...
- RanmaChan, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3Disgaea 3 = pure evilness! It never ends! Get to level 9999, get to Land of Carnage, level up your rank 39 armor to steal better rank 40 armor from the item god... dupe that and level it up for mage and fists and archer and sword and gun and then repeat for each weapon type...
... then capture enemies... and more powerful enemies... and magichanged weapons... then go through class world 70 times to max your affinities...
It never ends! - hmunkey, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2It's not even the bugginess, but the flow of the game in general. After playing Gears of War and GTA IV, I expect a lot more in character movements and animations. Mercs 2 looked old and sloppy.
- jamez, on 10/20/2008, -1/+3It's because everyone has their own ways of getting through those levels, and doing it time and time again the same way only reinforces those tendency. To say we all have OCD is just ***** ludicrous... we are all human and we are all ***** unsane.
- ThaDRD, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2If you have OCD and have average game playing abilities; trying to get every trophy/achievement must just be brutal torture.
- Khast, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2I think Digg is an OCD... I just had to place a comment here.
Though, dugg for Pacman Fever, and Q-Bert. - DaHuuuuuudge, on 10/20/2008, -1/+3Except for the fact that OCD is almost never used for anything else, and in this context the reader immediately knows what they are talking about. Also, it could not just as easily be "Orgasmic Cumming Deficiency" because that is just something you made up.
Do you complain when articles use radar, AIDS, or NASA without telling you what they mean? - Balanced, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2Might be a sign of an OCD of your own...
- galv0, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2See: Xbox Achievements.

Please continue. - SES133, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2It doesn't look like the study said anything specific about causation. It did show a correlation between OCD and video game play but that is more vague and open ended. than a study which addresses causation.
- stereoa, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2dude. that is bad.
- TheHammar, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2Pretty good explanation of us "completionist" video gamers.
- kdoig, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2This comment bothers me because I can't fix it
- kdoig, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2I can guide a missile by satellite
- Rapter09, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2Does PacMan cause OCD, or do people with OCD just naturally latch onto a game like PacMan, where - as stated by the author - a video game world is a perfect playground for somebody with OCD to control every aspect of whats going on? I don't understand how "People with OCD latch onto games like PacMan - where they can try to get *every* last pill" somehow loops around in on itself to become "Videogames cause OCD." Let's be honest: That's pretty ***** logic, and I can't imagine any university that has done a study would come to that conclusion if they really employ "scientists". I mean... fine, you have OCD and you have to do every little last thing in a game. Fine. So do I; I like to play games to completion too. I find it immensely enjoyable. But I certainly don't have OCD. Your situation is unique, and video games don't cause OCD.
It makes absolutely no sense to me. But then again, like I said, I don't have OCD and I don't understand it. So forgive my trespass. It seems to me like the author is saying something that completely contradicts the study, and he's the one with OCD, which doesn't really say much for the veracity of the Philadelphia Research Center's data. - lulzitsadigg, on 10/20/2008, -1/+3Can you even "turn" OCD?
"Much like Asperger's Syndrome, OCD is frequently self-diagnosed in attention whores. In modern filmography, certain character quirks are often accounted for by OCD (among other disorders), because the writers are usually too lazy to concoct an actual back story. You do not have OCD." - AnimaStomp, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2*****, no one tell Jack Thompson
- RetepNamenots, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2I had to stop playing Assassin's Creed - trying to collect all the flags from the levels was taking far too long.
Plus the game was crap. - captainanndor, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2The worst thing that has happened in my life so far is Blizzard implementing an achievement system in World of Warcraft.
- mattjameson, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2“[Compulsion for organization] is less likely because a video game based on Shaq has never had a clear objective.”
Haha zing! - JankHank, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1Lolz, yeah achievements are bittersweet. Maybe life needs achievements; perhaps that would entice more people to live better lives =P
