As a former Gamestop employee (I know, I know, I'll be burning in hell), we were required to at least get parental permission in order to sell a rated m game to minors. Not that that didn't do any good, the parents barely listened and bought the game anyway, then come back and complain that the game was too bloody for their kids and they wanted a refund. They usually didn't get it, seeing as we told them what it was like and it wasn't our fault they didn't listen.
