joystickdivision.com — Attack of the Show has had its ups and downs on its way to 1,000 episodes. Kevin Rose's departure and later Sarah Lane's departure were some sad moments for old-school TechTV fans. However, Olivia Munn's arrival marked a whole new era in the show's history; an era of hotness (which by the way is shown extremely well in this video).

I've seen better acting in porn. Nothing about Olivia Munn is good except her attractiveness. Even her attempts at acting flirty are just insulting to anyone who has actually talked to an actual woman.
  • christoast, on 07/12/2009, -5/+152***** yes we're bitter, TechTV was the only channel I've ever loved or cared about. I spent a good part of my mid-late teens watching techtv. Then G4 came rolling in with their bad taste and shamless comercialism and ruined it all.

    Everything about it is horrible except x-play (and extended play was techtvs original idea)

    Olivia Munn represents what happened to a once great network. TechTV showed that Geeks are smart, funny, interesting, even attractive people. Then G4 bought them out and turned TSS to AOTS, tossed everyone who made the network great and brought in Munn, who is indeed attractive, but pretends to be a geek girl (which she clearly isn't). Watch any of her DVDuesday or Gadget Pron segments. Instead of actually asking knowledgeable questions she awkwardly reads (and stumbles) through her lines on the teleprompter. She asks questions a geek would want to know (because someone who actually cares wrote them) but she clearly doesn't care about the answers. It's actually quite painful.

    I do have to give Kevin Props though. I really disliked him at first, but he's proven to be someone who I could have seen on TSS back in the day.

Every time I turn on ATOS, it just seems like they're trying extremely hard to be cool, or trendy, or geeky or something...I can't put my finger on it, exactly. Screen Savers was just laid back with good information/content and authentically cool people. I still get a little peeved every time I turn on G4TV and think about the suits behind the change.

If I want to watch tech shows I'd like the person there to actually at least seem to know what they're talking about. Incidentally, I stopped watching before TechTV went off the air. It was pretty easy to see where it was headed.

G4TV only succeeds at reinforcing the awkward and unseemly stereotypes that gamers and some in the tech industry struggle to overcome. Most of this was accomplished by singlehandedly destroying two perfectly good, seperate TV channels. If you watch AOTS I dub you a poser geek.

This in turn is why they are bringing in "hot" chics as a last attempt to keep the station from going belly up. I say let it burn in hell!
