This is stupid as hell. - TalkingBanana, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19Whoever wrote this needs to take a chill-pill
- grandturismo, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16that's really ***** of them to go after roger ebert for being a fatty
firstly, it's just a low blow to begin with
secondly, he's lost a considerable amount of weight over the last several years so if for nothing else, his is an inaccurate diss
thirdly, the extent of the physical damage he's endured as a result of the chemotherapy he's received for thyroid cancer has rendered him physically hideous and unable to so much as speak out loud
and fourthly, if you show me a video game journalist that's won a pulitzer prize for his writings, i'll quit stumping for the Rog
fifthly this is my first post on digg, hi - emjaymj, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Interesting that they mentioned Robin Williams without pointing out the fact that he freaking named his daughter Zelda.
- hassanchop13, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Damn, he really hates Sony (on the last page). Kinda kills the credibility when he just starts going hardcore fanboy, but it was decent otherwise.
- TheDanderson, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Ridiculously biased, he gives little to no evidence on a lot of his points, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised that he's exaggerating. Buried.
- TheMangler, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9This article was disturbingly angry, but interesting.
- yobbo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Buried for unnecessary Playstation 3 bashing, and racist attack on the French. Whoever wrote that article, don't repeat something just because your government said it.
- FatherG, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6"Jack Thompson is actually made entirely of used condoms, duct tape, and the feet of pigeons that have that f**ked up foot deformity thing where there's no toes, only gross, scaly red nubbin."
It is now my mission to work "scaly red nubbin" into every conversation today. - nublet, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5"You see, thanks to Steve and Bill's deep pockets, the public at large can purchase $700 worth of gaming hardware for around $400. Soon to be $350."
nice try. - DustinR, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Sorry the article was good but I had to bury since that gamerhelp site insisted on flash adds every page and broke it up into 4 parts.
- thinman1189, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Buried for the bad ads, page break ups, bias and censoring.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Walmart?
- felman87, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3No mention of hardware breakdowns? (I'd be pissed about constant hardware failure) Gee, I wonder whose payroll they're on. ^_^
- PunishedOne, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I think this article was meant for more of a laugh than to actually be serious.
Oh I wish I can hit the digg button more than once. - fuzzynyanko, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I never knew that about Drew Carey. Pretty cool.
- SchnellFowVay, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2"French" isn't a race you moron.
- Gir53457, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Pfft. Yeah.
Sony is really stepping up with the PS3 as both a quality gaming machine and a Blu-Ray player. I'm even considering getting one for my new Hi-Def TV so I can watch some Blu-Ray movies, Which are most likely becoming the winning format this time. - emjaymj, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Sorry, I didn't feel like typing out a book initially. I'm aware the name has existed for longer, but it's a fact that he named his daughter after the princess in the game.
- FatherG, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2>>>singlehandedly turning the entire article weaboo >>>>
***** digg comments. Insert remark about irony, Chrono's avatar and the above comment. - maleki, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1QFT all around. I think this post was dead on.
- Gir53457, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1How the hell does a child get a hold kalashnikov?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I thought they would have unexpected allies not Shiggy. I know Shiggy is ally.
- tech42er, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Exaggerating a bit? Did you read the section on Jack Thompson?
- muka3d, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2This article (most of it) was written very well. There were a few rants, but past that, some quality analytical thinking/discussion.
Dugg. - Pinhedd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I saw the sims episode, it was surprising.
- felman87, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1buried article for the sole purpose of not mentioning will wright
- DFENS, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Not worth reading - just lame rants.
EA is the enemy of the gamer because of how badly they treat their employees? Everyone I know that works for them loves it there - they laugh about how stupid management can be, but they love their job. And they put out some of the best damn games that do change how games are played. For all the flack they get for using the same liscense to death, they also gave us the Battlefield series and such - games that changed up multiplayer quite a bit. And umm...SPORE, you *****. Bash EA's management, but don't knock their employees or product - they do a damn good job.
And really don't bash EA then turn around and applaud Lucasarts. Talk about using a liscense to death - Star Wars is the only reason games have sold from that company, since they haven't put anything decent out in years.
The article is little more then a rant, and certainly isn't well thought out. Someone should make a list of all the lame lists and all the good lists, so idiots who think they can make lists that are digg worthy can at least learn how to properly list things. - SchnellFowVay, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So let's see. He calls the Pope a Nazi. He calls Roger Ebert fat (who isn't fat anymore and who has been to hell and back with cancer treatment). He rips on a gaming company that produces some of the greatest games available (EA).
As was stated above, this is pure nerd-rage. NOTHING offends me, but this article (though I realize it's supposed to be sarcastic) ALMOST does... - jalexhall1989, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I'm pretty suprised will wright wasn't on the list, he's practically the whole defense we have against "all vidja games are violent". He's released tons of major titles that didn't have you (purposely) killing anyone or causing any harm at all. and by purposely i meant the sims haha..
- mattjumbo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This article is very childish but, if it were sensible and logical, that wouldn't matter. And there's the rub. The logic is horrible.
Joe Lieberman is an ass for censoring games but Shigeru Miyamoto makes the list of allies? Ha! Now I love Miyamoto but he is the front man for Nintendo (and I love them, too. I don't even own a PS3 or a 360...only a Wii and a DS), and Nintendo has censored more games with corporate strong-arming than Lieberman ever dreamed of! Especially back in the NES days when they were the only game in town. They would routinely sue companies right out of business (or simply not let them have a license and shut them down) for not adhering to their ethics guidelines in games. In fact, they never really stopped doing it until they no longer had the pull in the market to make it stick.
And Fox News? This is just some liberal making a political point. Fox doesn't blast games or gamers anymore than CNN, NBC, or any of the other major news nets. If you want to write an article called "Fox News is biased toward Conservatives", fine. But throwing them in here, again, just weakens the case he's trying to make.
And as DFENS said, Lucasarts!? They have at least 4 utterly crappy games to every one good game they make. At least these days. EA is ass, yes, but not much more than Lucasarts.
Yes, Japan makes some great games, but they aren't the dominant force they have been in the past. And they're society is so racist and insular they flat out refuse to buy a lot of American products. The xbox 360, you know the one that get MS listed as "an ally"? Microsoft can't *give* them away in Japan. Because its a rotten system? No. Because all the games suck? No. Because its an American company? Bingo!
Speaking of MS...MS an ally?! This is the same company that has waded into every market they have ever been involved with, killed off the competition and then stifled innovation through unfair (of not flat out illegal) business practices. They are an "ally" of gaming? Will that subsidized 360 still look good in ten years when MS has crushed everyone else and releases the same rehashed crap every five years. See: Windows and Office.
I realize the article is meant to be over the top, but I thought the writer was trying to make salient points while doing it. If so, he failed terribly. - therayven, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This screaming diatribe against Roger Ebert and Sony brought to you by... Fecal Jesus?
- Gir53457, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1So said the man with psoriasis.
- Goatmonkey48, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1f*ck anyone who thinks gaming causes children to play with ak-47s!
- monoloco, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Zelda was actually a name before the game came out, you know...the name was derived from Zelda Fitzgerald. That said, keeping in mind that he's apparently a gamer, he probably did pick it because of the games
- championchap, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Hell no, that article made me laugh hard!
Dugg as dugg can be! Hilarious! - enzo47, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Dugg purely for the Roger Ebert section.
- monoloco, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1"There's nothing you can do."
"Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor." - RobynG7, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2This article definitely needs to be buried as lame.
- gypsi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0jesus, ever been to digg.com?
- theotherdude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0All that matters is: Jack Thompson is a douche.
- GuyeNoir, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1136 - ffleming, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1That article was pure, condensed nerd rage. The dude needs to go outside and make friends or something, because online he's ***** pathetic.
- JuniorPurvis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0In all ranks of life the human heart yearns for the beautiful; and the beautiful things that God makes are his gift to all alike.
- Zcarp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Dugg down for calling Ebert fat. This guy is stupid.
- miraimatt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Go back to 4chan, where your kind of hypocrisy goes unnoticed. PS: It's usually spelled "weeaboo".
- theuthershow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0As a philosophy of art student, I have little time for any writing conceited enough to 'define art' either as an absolute unchageble thing or without discussion of any level. In an area so contenious as the very definition of 'art' for any writer to structure their arguement as "My opinion is correct and will be taken as read" does not deserve to be published on or in any media.
On the other hand - Games ARE art. - Gir53457, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1My Grandma said that once you get outside of Paris the people become a lot nicer and hospitable, She said they're a lot like Texans.
- Pake, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Obviously it's bias... It's a freaking gamer talking about people who either benefit or attempt to destroy gaming based on what gamers tend to agree on or joke about. What the ***** do you think you were about to read?
